KNOW this: all of you having wireless trouble-a VPN must be turned off. Techs may not know that. Second-I am no shill for Canon- buy only Canon toner 072 or 072H. I have tried them all and I just did something that was uncomfortable this morning- I tossed $250 of various off brand toners used between 1% and 30%. that means I used them for a few days to a few months before failure. Wow! What you finally figure this thing out as far as hooking it up to your computer and finally getting Wi-Fi on it then you go to print something and I won’t print. It has to know the size of the paper, the weight of the paper the color of the paper this thing is a freaking joke. Don’t buy it. I can just return it like I am. Should be no stars. ... show more

Installing this printer was not an easy task for me. First I struggled with the install and when I tried to use printer wirelessly, I was told I had to use printer control panel to connect to wifi. The printer control panel asked me questions I did not know the answer to (ex. V4 or v6). This was not plug and play. Finally called Canon Support and was connected to two wonderful techs. The 1st walked me thru the I P connection to my wifi. I struggled with entering wifi password ( had to learn. How to select upper, and lower case letters and thd how to enter numbers. Failed entering pw 4 times and told tech I would call back later when I was connected too wifi. 2nd call connected me to this lovely, patient woman and 2 hours later I was able to print over wifi. This was my first color laser printer and when I decided that I was going to purchase one I did a lot of research on the different brands. One thing that I love is how easy it was to set it up and start using it. The print quality is amazing and while it is a little heavy, the size is perfect for the spot in our home office where we put it. Another thing that I absolutely love about this printer is that nowadays all printer companies seem to have subscription services that force you to buy your ink or toner from them. Some of the printer companies monitor how many pages you print and charge you a monthly fee. While Brother does have a subscription service, they don't force you to join. Now, I'm sure aftermarket toner would be cheaper to buy but in my experience you can't rely on the quality of aftermarket stuff, and most printer companies started the subscription services to prevent people from using aftermarket ink and toner. The Brother toner cartridges for this printer are very reasonably priced, so I have no interest in aftermarket anything, so it's a win-win situation for Brother and myself. It's been well worth my initial investment and from everything I've read and heard from people who own Brother equipment, their products last longer than most of their competitors. ... show more

It is a nice printer but. 1. The output tray access is hindered by the control panel. 2. The printer set up is complex and hard to follow and often confusing and not logical. 3. The online user manual is hard to follow and does not address the printer functions directly. There is no printed user manual that comes with the printer. 4. There is no single sheet feed tray and envelopes are inserted in the tray instead of the paper. 5. The printer constantly stops and wants the user to tell it the kind of paper in the tray. This interface is confusing and often frustrating. I tried buying a better Canon printer form Amazon and each time they sent me a broken printer. I returned both and then both this on. Wanted the better one but most of all I wanted one that worked. ... show more
