Very happy with this printer/scanner/copier. After replacing a small HP inkjet with a Canon inkjet for the kitchen printer, decided to buy into Canon ecosystem. This replaces a ~15 year old Brother MFC of same capabilities for home office. This Canon is faster, has better color reproduction on prints, scans and copies, and was cheaper (at least at purchase, we'll see when toner runs out). Fast duplex scans with no off center images makes me happy, and just noticed you can "extend" the hinges when doing glass top scans on thick materials, like books. Nice! Easy to set up on Mac and Linux Mint. Have not used the fax. Nice color status screen. Office lights don't dim and the UPS doesn't beep anymore when the printer starts up like before, and the printer itself is reasonably quiet. Default paper tray could be a bit larger. So far, so good. I’ll be honest, setting up this printer was a beast, so to rule out any confusion or missteps, I used AI, specifically ChatGPT. I gave ChatGPT the layout of my entire network first so it would understand what it was working with. Then I prompted it to give me the installation details step-by-step, and it laid everything out literally step-by-step for a flawless install. It works perfectly. I can honestly say that without the assistance of ChatGPT, there’s no way that I would’ve been able to get it installed the first time flawlessly just by reading the instructions and googling, because there’s way too many different nuances, depending on your current network and computer set up to have the printer, the scanner, the fax and copy all work, seamlessly out the gate. So I highly suggest anybody who plans on installing this printer and having it work seamlessly the way it was designed, with no hiccups and no issues the first time, to use an AI assistant via ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, or Claude- thank me later. ... show more

While it prints great if you can ever get it to print this has to be one of the sorriest purchases I've ever made. An utter disappointment. Actually ashamed to think OI actually used to work for Canon. Constantly loses communication, can never keep computer or mobile phone print platform connected. Have tried Windows drivers, Canon's own drivers. Nothing works. So I have a 75 pound paper weight. So wish I'd have listened to my instincts and returned this piece of garbage when I could have. Now I'm stuck with a $650 paperweight. Do yourself a favor. Get an HP or a Brother ANYTHING BUT THIS!!!! ... show more

I am leaving the text of my initial review because products like this should not be released in the state I purchased it. Like a lot of modern software the testing seems to be done by real paying customers. I bought on credit card points so returning was tricky. If I’d paid normally it would’ve been returned after the first couple of days My first 3 months were hell - I got to know the product very well and at times was literally reinstalling it every 10 minutes to get 2-3 scans done before it failed again. Printing was a bit better but still very flakey. Canon support is excellent and my initial long wait time turned out to be an anomaly. The reality wait time is more like 5 minutes - I’ve called them a lot. However, they may be excellent but the machine was unfixable and at the time - after a call - I might get half a day reasonable running before it started failing again. Then …. Earlier in 26 there seemed to be an Apple OS release and a Canon update and it now seems to work roughly as it should and I now like it. It is not perfect - hence 4 stars but it is good enough. The scanning is generally fine - the only issues is even on the slowest ‘get it right’ setting it can be at times too fast for previously folded paper in the autofeeder causing jams. The printing is good. I would change the software design and some of the clunky functionality but partly with the help of other pdf editing software I can get what I need done. INITIAL REVIEW So this maybe too early but the set up process says a lot about Canon and today (Oct 30 25) was my first experience with a Canon product. First I am a Mac user so Windows maybe a different experience. I unpacked the printer and went thru the set up process but when I went to download the drivers and software from the US website, it was an empty link. Trying to get help is very circular as you click on help and on the website and it takes you to the start point of the failure. So I cannot access the set up software and after much searching finally found a phone number. Had a frustrating conversation with the 'AI' answer machine that had never heard of the product but at least had the sense to put me thru to a human being who routed me to the 'right' department. There were 17 callers ahead of me and then I had to endure 30 - 40 minutes of 'musak' before finally a human came on the line. He was a godsend. Directed me from the US website to the Canadian site for the required downloads and they take some searching if you go in without a Canon guy on the line but the Canada site unlike the US at least has the software. I am used to with my previous Brother printer just downloading the software and installing and it working but not with Canon. I assumed that having been directed to the downloads that would be it and the call would end but no .... I thank him because he would not leave the call until I had working printer and scanner and there is good reason. There are quirks in the installation process that I would never have figured out on my own and require guidance from someone from Canon. It is mind blowing how many quirks have to be tweaked to make the printer / scanner work that are not intuitive. I truly think most of us need a Canon person to get this to work and I am not impressed. The whole aim of their US website seems geared to getting as much personal information as possible without helping you get their product working. The Canadian website at least gives you the software but not much else The first print I did on it was ok but was an image and certainly not mind-blowing. On the scanning side (most important for me) the Canon scan software will not allow the routing of an individual scan to a chosen folder but instead to a designated folder for everything for I assume later filing. I got rid of my Hewlett Packard 10 years ago for this and my latest now obsolete Brother software is much more flexible than the state of the art Canon. A few hours after the Canon guy left the call and I am getting errors stating the scanner is not recognized so I believe tomorrow there will be another call to Canon. ... show more

I work from a home office and then drive around delivering paperwork. I print about 2-3 reams of paper a week. Mostly black and white but some color. I don't print photos very often so can't comment on that quality. I have had the peinter 6 months now and blew through the suppoied toner quick. Non Canon brand toner works pretty good and I was impressed. Printer is not a quick printer vut ir does the job slow a steady. Text is sharp and not blurred or smudgy. This is my first laser printer i have owned and its heads above ink jets. The scanner is very fast pulls pages through straight. Even at 1200 dpi its pretty fast. Great printer works well. I run Windows 10 and no issues ... show more

My xerox just broke so i bought this on reading some good reviews. Printer is solid and pretty heavy compared to my old xerox. The led screen is nice and once i entered wifi info it downloaded the latest firmware. At first the driver dl was a pain, but you only need to load the ufr ii driver and i think it loaded the rest of the utilities like scanner and fax tools on my pc, so it was a little easier then i thought. The driver detected the printer and theres a canon print app for iphone as well that was easy to set up and print quality is good. It auto flips paper for both side printing saving a lot of paper. Print quality is clean and precise. Toner accessibility is great in one pullout tray, but they do look a little small. For now 5 stars, nothing to complain about at this price point. ... show more

2.5 stars PROS: it prints black and white beautifully, including pictures It prints colored words well (though not colored pictures) CONS: - pain to set up - frequently loses the Wi-Fi (maybe it has an old chip?) - overheats quickly. When completely cold, it can only print 90 papers double sided (i.e., 180 pages) before having to stop because it's overheating. Its tray holds 250. And when it does this, sometimes (often) it loses wi-fi and *restarts the job* - Since it gets hot, it keeps making my cartridges fail and start dusting their toner on everything. But it won't print without cartridges in every spot. This printer is IDEAL for: someone who prints a hundred pages at a time pages that include color text but, if images, only black and white. Oh, and wants the printer right next to their wi-fi, so they can plug it in. This printer is BAD for: someone who does book binding (because of course the paper curls), more than a hundred pages in a day, color images Recommendation: unless you print color text, have two printers: a monochrome laser printer for document printing and an inkjet for pictures. Tired of fighting with ink cartriges I opted for this great Canon laser printer. It's a beautiful machine and works great, but I had one issue. I recently acquired a new HP laptop with a Snapdragon processor that refused to accept the scan driver, however, I discovered a workaround with a scan app I found online that works well.
