  • The nicest printer I've ever had
Style: New Model
Before I give this review, I want to disclose a couple of relevant things: I'm not using this printer professionally, I'm not in graphic design, and I really don't know a lot about printers! This printer was on such a nice sale that I bought it anyway! So far it functions just as advertised. The software from the Canon website sucks, NBD, just enter your wifi credentials on the touchscreen and it will be fine. My Windows experience with this thing has been good out of the box. I really wanted to talk about using this thing with Linux. It DOES work, but there may be quirks. I have only used it with Zorin, an offshoot of Ubuntu. I tried Libre Office, Gimp, and Freeplane. They all work as expected. The Text Editor app, provided by Zorin, is wonky with this printer. It WILL print, but each time I have to go to the touchscreen and confirm the paper size. It disrupts my hobby time "workflow." Canon provides a Linux driver that may help, IDK, I'm not smart enough to install it yet. I haven't tried the other features yet, so i can't say how they work, making this an incomplete review. I gave 5 stars because the documents I made have been very nice, spin up time to print is reasonable, printing is fast, and I got this on a really nice sale, so it was a good deal. Edit: My OS installed new drivers on it's own somehow, and now this thing works great with Zorin Linux every time, with every app I have tried. Also, I have recently used the scan to USB drive feature, and i was very pleased with the results. ... show more

  • Excellent Laser Printer
Style: New Model
After using the Canon MF665Cdw for a few days, I am thoroughly impressed. The setup process was remarkably swift and user-friendly, with Wi-Fi connectivity established on the initial attempt. Additionally, printing from my mobile device was seamless and error-free. The printer’s functionality encompasses printing, scanning, and copying, all of which are executed flawlessly. The color quality is exceptional, even when utilizing the temporary starter cartridges. A notable feature is the 50-sheet automatic document feeder, which enhances convenience. The printer exudes a sense of solidity and robust construction. However, its weight of approximately 60 pounds necessitates assistance for transportation, particularly when moving it upstairs. A significant advantage is the slightly lower cost of Canon original toner for this model compared to comparable HP original toner. Nevertheless, I believe that the original toner for both Canon and HP printers is excessively expensive. To mitigate this concern, I opted for a two-year extended warranty, which provided me with a total coverage period of five years. In summary, I am highly satisfied with this printer and wholeheartedly recommend it. ... show more

  • Don't Buy The Canon Color Image CLASS MF665Cdw or any Canon Printer
Style: New Model
I've been using this printer for a few weeks, and I can't stand it. The print quality is extremely light, the toner cartridges are overpriced, and the scanner is the worst part of the entire machine. I used an HP printer and scanner for years and had a much better experience. The print quality was bold and clear, the toner was more reasonably priced (although toner always seems overpriced, SCAM!!!), and scanning was quick and easy. The Canon scanning instructions are confusing and difficult to follow. Even after figuring them out, the scanner still doesn't work the way it should. Something as simple as scanning a document, saving it, and emailing it to a customer for signature is far more complicated than it needs to be. Canon should add a real quick and easy manual with the purchase. Not a downloadable manual. I would not recommend this printer. It has been an expensive and frustrating purchase, and in my opinion, it's not worth the money or the aggravation. ... show more

  • Great printer once set up. Great customer support. Lousy software and user interface.
Style: New Model
OK, well this printer was definitely a step up for me from my previous HP Laserjet. That printer worked well for years until it suddenly stopped, and no amount of uninstalling and reinstalling could get it to work for more than a few days at a time. Consumer Reports recommended the ImageClass, so I jumped right in. This is a BIG printer. It's heavy and it comes with a lot of bells and whistles. I had some mega issues getting it loaded with my computer. You might or might not run into the same trouble. The software is definitely lacking on Canon's end, as I followed each instruction, downloaded the apps, tried on PC and on phone, and it would not connect. I was so frustrated that I eventually called Canon's help line and they (unlike HP!) actually had a human help me. In the end, what worked for me was restarting my router (after updating its firmware) and the printer at the same time. Suddenly the PC could talk with it and all was merry and joyful in Mudville. You probably won't run into the same issue - this was a brand new router, but that's beside the point. The software was pretty bad, ending in circular logic (scan the QR code, select the printer, if no printer appears click here, scan the QR code, select the printer, etc). That's not a good look. BUT- Canon had actual humans help me through it! And they didn't charge me or upcharge me for the service. HP does not even bother with this, and their completely automated help is useless (and just wants to upsell you to service packages). The printer itself, once set up, is really good at the things you want it to do. It prints from PC or iPhone without losing any sleep. The image quality is OK- a little less vivid than HP, but it's plenty fast and I haven't run into any issues yet. I'm not a huge fan of the User Interface. It took me longer than I want to admit that I could scroll left and right to access more menus, but there is a surprising lack of customization possible. The interface is slow and clunky, and there's no true "preferences" menu. TL;DR - The printer itself works great. The quality is decent. The speed and ease is optimal. The user interface and software kind of suck. The customer support is fantastic. I bought it and I'm happy with my purchase. I'm not certain I'd do better with a different brand or model. ... show more

  • Great printer
Style: New Model
I work from a home office and then drive around delivering paperwork. I print about 2-3 reams of paper a week. Mostly black and white but some color. I don't print photos very often so can't comment on that quality. I have had the peinter 6 months now and blew through the suppoied toner quick. Non Canon brand toner works pretty good and I was impressed. Printer is not a quick printer vut ir does the job slow a steady. Text is sharp and not blurred or smudgy. This is my first laser printer i have owned and its heads above ink jets. The scanner is very fast pulls pages through straight. Even at 1200 dpi its pretty fast. Great printer works well. I run Windows 10 and no issues ... show more

  • Canon Color imageCLASS MF665Cdw
Style: New Model
This printer is great! Just received it today so haven't done a lot of printing but it did a great job on what I did print. It is heavy, well made and pretty easy to set up. It is a little loud which doesn't bother me. Color printing is good and I think it was a good value for the money (bought on sale). Compatible with my Mac Computer. Would highly recommend it to anyone! ... show more

  • The printer is wonderful. Setup really stinks.
Style: New Model
The printer is great. Installation and setup is an opaque nightmare. I had to get one of my top tech employees who deals with complex tech problems for hundreds or people every day to help me. He succeeded but it took a lot of effort and time. He said the setup process was very poorly designed and filled with all sorts of unnecessary roadblocks and dead ends. By no means a simple 1-2-3 and ready to go. ... show more

  • Going all in on Canon
Style: New Model
Very happy with this printer/scanner/copier. After replacing a small HP inkjet with a Canon inkjet for the kitchen printer, decided to buy into Canon ecosystem. This replaces a ~15 year old Brother MFC of same capabilities for home office. This Canon is faster, has better color reproduction on prints, scans and copies, and was cheaper (at least at purchase, we'll see when toner runs out). Fast duplex scans with no off center images makes me happy, and just noticed you can "extend" the hinges when doing glass top scans on thick materials, like books. Nice! Easy to set up on Mac and Linux Mint. Have not used the fax. Nice color status screen. Office lights don't dim and the UPS doesn't beep anymore when the printer starts up like before, and the printer itself is reasonably quiet. Default paper tray could be a bit larger. Overall very pleased. ... show more
