This accessory was necessary for me. If you are sure you will need it and don't want to spend more for the larger EOS R, then this grip improved my shooting experience but I haven't tried it with my monopod yet. I also leave it on which makes a difference. If I needed to remove it for some situations, then I would likely buy the EOS R instead. Glad Canon provided this grip instead of nothing. ... show more

    • Perfect ergonomics
This is a great addition to an already great body. I like the small body in most situations, but it is nice to be able to add additional grip surface when needed. This grip extension fits the bill perfectly and looks great to boot.

    • Perfect, but not?
I hate that i even had to purchase this. I almost felt they should have just make the camera a little taller. However it's a great little piece that I'm glad is only modular. I put in on when taking photos. it allows me to grip like any pro dslr. When shooting video this comes off and i'm usually cradleing the camera by the lens and this extension gets in the way. theres a little whether sealing for some reason. nice touch. comes on and off in about 6 seconds. It ought to cost 50$ . It's missing a place to hold the removed battery door like all other canon battery grips provide. Still gets 5 stars ... show more

Great if the RP is too small for your hands. Durable quality but slightly heavy.

    • Great quality except for loose screw
Although this extension arrived on time, in perfect condition, and worked perfectly with the RP, I struggled to keep the screw from unscrewing when attaching a tripod plate. And when turning vertical it also rotated slightly loose. So I found I needed to apply semi-perm thread lock to hold tight. In the end, although the thread lock worked I felt I missed having the ability to sometimes attach a mic and other stuff to the camera so I replaced this with a SmallRig cage. Note: With this extension grip it won’t fit a cage so I had to remove it. ... show more

Maybe a must for the RP. Some people question why it even exists, but I understand Canon’s rationalization since it lets you pick what feels right for you and especially those of us with large hands who are used to bigger grips even on APS-C cameras. I got it to keep the screen elevated in order to clear my ancient tripod when opening, but it feels great using it handheld as well. ... show more
