Here are my findings after a week of playing with this engraver. It took nearly 2 weeks for the product to arrive after placing the order. It only took 2 or 3 days to arrive once it had shipped. The product came nicely packaged. All of the parts were individually wrapped and protected with nice foam padding. The bags with screws and such could've been labeled, but the pieces are easy to identify from the instructions. The instruction manual itself was a bit lacking, but still provided enough info to get it assembled, which took around 10 minutes. One of the M4 screw heads broke off while barely turning. I wasn't torqueing or tightening it. I was only about half-way in when it snapped (and, yes, I'm always careful). I think it was just a bad screw. Luckily I had a replacement. Once assembled, the laser engraver is very straightforward. There's a z-axis focus knob, a power switch, and a reset button - nothing more. It's extremely easy to home and use, regardless of what software you use. It does a great job at engraving wood of all types. Just make sure you test different wood with different settings before engraving anything of importance. And, write down your settings for the different wood as they do require different speeds & power. The attached image of the Marvel Mayan calendar came out a lot darker than shown here. But, it faded a bit after applying a couple coats of lacquer. The image of my company logo came out really nice on the sample wood provided in the box. The edges are a bit choppy, but that's only because I used an old raster image that had choppy edges already. I've since re-ran my logo on other wood using a clean SVG version which came out perfectly. I tried engraving the small metal coins that came with the engraver, but that didn't work. I first covered them with a black sharpie to give the laser something to focus on. Even after 10 passes at 100% power and 10% speed, there wasn't event a scratch on them. I also tried adding masking tape, and even colored it black, but that too didn't work. So, now I'm going to paint the coins and use the laser to remove the paint, revealing the metal underneath. I've ordered the rotary add-on, which will be here soon, to engrave tumblers which works using the same principle of removing the top-layer of paint to reveal the metal underneath. While I'm a bit disappointed this can't engrave metal, I mainly bought it for engraving wood, tumblers, leather, etc. I haven't tried to actually cut any wood yet, but I'll give that a shot soon enough just to see how it does. I'm giving this product 4-stars for 2 reasons. First is because after assembling the product and attempting to home it for the first time, I found out that the limit-switch on the y-axis does not come into contact with the stop-block on the left-side rail. Because of this, the laser doesn't know it has reached its home position and continues running the servos in attempt to find its origin. This causes the motor to keep grinding until I manually press the limit switch or turn off power to the engraver. I contacted the seller who told me to move the stop-block on the left-side rail to 50mm so that the limit switch will hit it and stop as expected. Instead of moving the stop-block, I simply designed and 3D printed a small saddle that sits over the top of the stop-block which provides just enough extension for the limit switch to hit it without losing any room on the y-axis. The second reason for 4-stars is because, even though the seller got back to me rather quickly regarding my question about the stop-block and limit switch, I had to jump through all kinds of hoops to contact them. The product description says to contact them if you have any questions or need help, but they don't provide any contact information on the product page or in the instruction manual. When I tried contacting them for help, I was sent to a bot that couldn't do anything except provide a link that took me right back to the same bot. When I contacted Amazon support, they too could only give me a link back to that same bot. After some digging, I was finally able to find a page that asked me several completely unrelated questions, but finally provided a text field for me to submit a question to the seller. They responded within 24 hours, but it still would've been a much more pleasant experience if they had simply provided an email address and/or phone number. Aside from the above, I'm rather pleased with the laser engraver so far, and I would recommend others to give it a try. For it's very low price, it's well worth it.

The media could not be loaded. So the laser works great on wood. Everything else it says it can engrave/etch is not a lie but they don't tell you that you either need laser paper or to paint the surface with a specific type of black paint. So if you are looking for a laser that can engrave/etch on glass, ceramic or metals without needing to add something else to the surface first this isn't for you. If you don't mind needing to add paint or laser paper and then add a clean up step then this one is great and you will love it. It comes in a bunch of pieces and I followed directions exactly and it took 15-20 minutes to put together. The issue is that it only moves smoothly for about 8 inches then it starts jerking the remaining way so you don't get a smooth burn/etch and the final product looks bad. So as long as it's centered and I don't have something over 8 inches it's amazing and works perfectly. I'm most likely going to add the extension just so I can make something the sizes the ad said it could do without the extension. When i make something in the area that works then the project looks great I attached a project I did for my son but I can only use a specific area. Hopefully the company can fix because they have been in contact with me about it.

It is a powerful laser, I have engraved wood and leather with it. The ultimate test is going to be when I try to engrave glass, When I do I will give an update.

Overall i was impressed with the unit. However, I believe one of the servos has some issues. Amazon has directed me to the manufacturer. My last attempt was through Amazon and resulted in an automated response from Amazon that I contact the manufacturer (back at square one). I would not buy again without locating (and verifying) a direct link to the manufacturer.

This is a amazing laser and great bang for the buck! I’ve made so many things with this laser. I also use lightburn software with this which is amazing. Will def buy again. I asked for the manual and they emailed it to me the next day.

I bought this laser for my hobby project because it was inexpensive and I didn't know if it was going to work yet but wow it really impresses me every time I use it. The shield is easy on the eyes and the focus is spot on. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants to engrave or cut with a laser.
