I had high hopes for the xTool M1 Ultra because on paper it seems like a very convenient all-in-one machine. The idea of combining multiple crafting functions in one device is great, especially for makers and small businesses who want to save space and streamline their workflow. Unfortunately, my experience with it was not very positive. The printing quality was the biggest issue for me. The results looked rough and inconsistent, with a lot of bleeding in the prints, which made finished projects look messy and unprofessional. I tried adjusting settings and testing different materials, but the output never reached the level of quality I expected from a machine in this price range. While the concept is appealing and the machine does seem convenient in theory, the actual performance didn’t meet my expectations. For creators who care about clean, precise results, this was frustrating. Overall, I’d give the xTool M1 Ultra 3 out of 5 stars. It has an interesting concept, but the execution—especially in print quality—left a lot to be desired.

I bought the xTool M1 Ultra as a Christmas gift for my wife, and she was thrilled at first. We added an exhaust port, and she dove in, but over 2–3 months and 60 sheets of 1/8" basswood, nothing worked reliably. Test cuts, adjusted settings—yet projects either caught fire or failed to cut through halfway. Frustration built until she gave up. Seven months later, at a school event, we met a pro crafter using the same machine. He said the Air Assist accessory would fix the fire and inconsistent cuts. That reignited her excitement, so it topped her next Christmas list. Installation was straightforward (just plugging in a hose), but we hit snags with outdated instructions and wrong YouTube videos—wasted time and a bit of money, though no damage. Cutting issues persisted even after cleaning the lens. Amazon's "call me" support led to a frustrating call with heavy-accent support that couldn't help. I left a harsh review... then real support (Wendy) reached out via email. Over 10 days of daily back-and-forth—photos, videos, details—she diagnosed a defective laser head. Despite owning it over a year, xTool replaced it free, reimbursed the Air Assist, and even compensated us for our install mistakes. The difference is night and day. My wife is now creating beautiful projects without issues. (attached photo) It's still 4 stars for me: the Air Assist feels essential for reliable performance and should be standard or clearly called out as required. That said, xTool's exceptional customer support turned a $2k disappointment into confidence—I’m now happy to buy more from them knowing they stand behind their products. Highly recommend if you're ready to invest in the full setup and appreciate top-tier service.

I love this machine—it's ready to go right out of the box, and you'll be up and running on day one. That said, regular maintenance is crucial. You'll need to clean it frequently—daily, or even more often depending on your projects. The included fan technically works, but it consistently triggered filter replacement errors after just 1–2 hours of use. I ended up replacing it with an inline fan, which added about $200 to the overall cost. While the original fan was functional, it didn’t ventilate well—I noticed more fumes and smoke, and one of my cats had an allergic reaction. The inline fan solved those issues, though it is significantly louder, it can be controlled manually to reduce the noise. Maintenance of the laser unit itself can be tedious. Cleaning the lens and cap is simple, but I didn’t expect to have to remove the housing to access the internal fan blades. That was a surprise and added more effort to the upkeep. Despite these maintenance demands, I truly enjoy using my M1 10W Ultra. Still, I wish I had done more research and opted for the 20W model. If I choose to upgrade— it costs $600+ more.

DO NOT PURCHASE ANYDOTHING FROM XTOOLS. Purchased the M1 Ultra a few months ago problem after problem. They give you no customer service at all. They just want your money and then go away even if their machine does not work. They make you contact them through e-mail which takes 24 to 48 hours to respond unless it is a weekend then it is longer. Then they say we will send you a new circuit board which you must replace yourself and it takes two weeks. Then you yourself install that circuit board which causes more issues making the machine inoperable. So now you have a really expensive paperweight that is garbage.
