I am so pleased that I found these lights for our recent camping trip. My girls loved them and we left them on during the night so it wasn't totally dark in the tent. They were nice and bright so I wore my sleep mask. The color change function was cool. We camped for 3 nights and I never had to recharge them, but we only used them after dark when we went to bed. They were easy to pull out to use and I LOVE that they rolled up to store inside of themselves. Very nice feature. Adding them to our tent made it magical for my girls and they were very affordable. I will likely buy a second one for use outside the tent next time we go camping.

I'm sure this isn't the best thing for the life of the built in battery, which is USB charged, but we've taken to just leaving these on and plugged in in our dining room, after initially buying them for an outdoor party as a one-off. The handle and retractor are slick! You just reel it in. So it makes for a really easy to use and portable quick party/accent light system, and the white lights are bright enough to provide low-level illumination -- you can't read to them, but you can eat to them, as it were. And the "fifth mode" is as a small camp light, which can be handy. I'm not going to put the waterproofing to the test, having been disappointed too many times by allegedly waterproof LED systems. The only nit I have is that the four light sequences are just white, flashing white, all colors, and all colors flashing (really kind of throbbing). It would be nice to be able to pick each of the four individual colors in turn or combine them.

We used these string lights while camping by attaching them to our tent's guy lines, making them much easier to see at night and helping prevent people from tripping over them. The lights are bright, easy to install and wind up for storage, and the battery life is impressive. A full charge lasted through two nights of camping without any issues.

In theory this is a good product: compact, spools nicely, and has a variety of settings. However this seems to be the quality control rejects from similar product batches because this light worked exactly once and then started having problems. Either it would not turn on, or it would turn on initially and then not change settings, or just appear dead even though it was just charged. After the first use I could not ever get it to work again Also a few weird design oddities. 1. when you first turn it on, the initial setting seems to be "extremely bright light shining right at your face" which is certainly not what you want when you are setting up lights in camp at night 2. the silicone cover/plug for the usb port is extremely hard to open and close. it is recessed into a tiny spot with no real way to grab it. so you will probably have to dig it out with something sharp and then leave it open forever, or rip it off and toss it; both of which defeat the purpose of having a cover for that port.
