  • Does what is intended!
Style: Standard 5.3-Gal Travel Toilet
For those of you who are embarrassed by the truth of going potty please don't read this. This will be descriptive within reason. Bought this recently so my wife didn't have to go dig a hole out in the wilderness to use the bathroom. She also has IBS so sitting there digging a hole is not fun when an episode kicks in. Before we went out to use it, I thought to take it myself and give it a go. Setup is easy and not very heavy even with the 3 gallons pre-filled before the trip. The two halves clamp together with no issues and from the dry testing I did it seems to have a good seal. Going #1 outside is a breeze for guys right so I sat in this thing to somewhat simulate a women going and well it wasn't to bad. All the waste goes where it should without splashing all over the place. If your a guy and would like to go in this rather than walking out of the tent then I would warn that you likely will get some splashing. To reduce this, flush it a couple times so water is filled into what I called the exit hole area. Then just aim right and it wont make much of a mess. For the ladies this should be no problem at all. Open the latch to the holding take and away the waste goes. Close the lid and ready for the next usage. Going #2 is fine so as long as it is a normal one. As recommended by another user, just pre-flush so the sides are lubed up a little to avoid sticking. If you are one of those power poopers who have those that crest the water normally then you might want to open up the latch to allow for room but it will stink up some obviously. If you have explosive then you might want to shower after cause there is no way that it will not splash up on you, sorry just the truth here. (Update 11/11/21: Works fine for the runs, just open the latch to prevent splashing.) This does seal up really good so no worries about smell while it is not in use. Obviously, once the latch is opened you will get a whiff of what is in there but typically you can just hold your breath while that happens until shut. Update 11/11/21: The black water tablets used for RVs work wonders in this. Breaks all down to liquid. Makes cleanup EASY but still gross. Cleanup was not hard but was pretty disgusting. The tablets included do a good job at breaking stuff up to a nice think liquid. I just dumped it all out in the toilet and all was well. I didn't have to use gloves as you can hold it in such a way that your hands will not be in the way of the dumping. Get it close to the toilet bowl to avoid splashing. You will need to put in fresh water a couple times to swirl around to clean up residual waste sticking around the wall of the inner holding tank. Once all that is done, you can go outside and use the hose to clean it up even better. Over all did what it was supposed to do and other than an easier way of dumping and cleaning will give this a 5 star. ... show more

  • Live in a garage w/o plumbing this is essential! Live in a garage w/o plumbing this is essential!
Style: Standard 5.3-Gal Travel Toilet
I live in a garage without plumbing so a toilet like this that works properly and doesn’t leak is essential. I was a little iffy after having bought four other toilets from other companies that all leaked and then I saw this one and I did read one comment with a complaint of leaking so I was excruciatingly worried going into this. However this is the best toilet by far! We use it daily and it does NOT leak at all! Also comparing to toilets of the past this one is amazing because so far having owned it a couple of months when you flush it does NOT spray water back at you which is amazing. (For people that do have that problem just keep the toilet seat down and don’t get a toilet cover and clean frequently) The other huge plus is that a toilet seat cover can also be fitted for comfort on this model as seen in pictures, a standard sized one, and it’s easy to remove and wash. Got one on vipon for a couple dollars using the amazon code from vipon. It really helps with the feel that this is a real toilet with plumbing. As for dumping I love this toilet, for how it doesn’t have a fold out spout which in my experience usually becomes a leaking problem in the future. This one is just a screw off cap for easy disposal of wastes. We do not go number two in this, but walk the distance to a house with plumbing for that. We do however go number one (pee) in this everyday for over two months and a family of three with guests every now and then and it works great! The seal that you push open to flush is just wonderful and that it doesn’t even leak through. With my old toilet the urine would drain down into the basin before I even opened the lever to flush it down and this one does not. It stays put only until you flush. That is very nice. The flusher on this toilet is really nice but if I had to think of one thing negative, it would be that this flusher doesn’t always adequately flush it on one flush. (Which is one pump pushing down) It’s a small Vice, but totally workable but basically you just have to flush or pump the flusher a couple of times especially if you did a small pee when there is more toilet paper than pee. **Advice to those that have never owned one of these: Make sure you thoroughly flush toilet paper down the hatch into the basin. Talk to your kids and make sure of this because speaking with experience it’s really bad for the toilet paper to get caught in the gasket and that’s when sometimes leaking or draining problems ensue. ** Just make sure all toilet paper is throughly flushed well.**. **Another tip is if using daily always dump on the third day. You don’t want it to get too full. In my experience that is another reason for leaking problems when letting the tank get too full. ** I will be giving an update if I have any issues. Highly recommend this toilet! Hope this helps someone, as I wish someone would of told me this. ... show more

  • AWESOME addition to a one bathroom home!!!
Style: Standard 5.3-Gal Travel Toilet
My wife and I are always bitching about how we only have one bathroom in our little house. No children just us. Even with just 2 of us (can't imagine how anyone could live in a house with only one bathroom) one bathroom is ridiculous. I occasionally have a little IBS so sometimes I just need to go. One day I decided we needed to make a little more room in the house during the winter since my wife and I are always on top of each other and she is always in need of some study area. So after about a month the dingy old basement is now cleaned up and revamped into a little sitting area. That said, I thought one night to shop on Amazon and see what a little portable or porta potty would cost. I really never new these things actually existed. After much review I decided to order this one. HOLLY sh....t. I can't believe how cool this thing is. We now have a little extra toilet in the house. SO easy to use and ready to use out of the box. I told 2 friends about this and they both ordered one. I double up on the cleaner tab that goes on the bottom of the toilet with about an inch of water added( they don't actually tell you that part), and I purchased on Amazon a little toilet roller with dolly on the bottom for moist wipes and a spray bottle in which I add about a tablespoon of the liquid cleanser stuff, liquid form of the tablet I got on here. After we go I just give a little extra spritz into the bowl and push the plunger device for flushing. You can minimize flushing by using the spritzer bottle instead a couple of spritzes. Bought a tiny little foot operated waist basked to on here to use as kind of a diaper basket sorta thing to put toilet paper and wipes in as you really can't put that down into the toilet. When its full you just click apart the 2 parts, carry the bottom part thats designed kind of like a 5 gallon gas can, and pore out the waist into the "real" toilet. So far we have had it about 2 weeks or so and its only about 2 inches full from the bottom so about 2 months with just sporadic use gets you one full container to dump out. 5 gallons is a lot to fill with just 2 people unless you use it numerous times a day. Anyway, it works great and wish I had thought of it sooner. Don't waist time and just get this, it's a great little investment for so little money. ... show more

  • Everything you need to know
Style: Standard 5.3-Gal Travel Toilet
Due to rough circumstances, I ended up having to use this as a primary toilet for about a year. Here's the deal. You HAVE to use some kind of "deodorant" is what they're called at the store. The liquid ones do NOT work. I had the best success with Thetford Campa Chem in the powder form, available at walmart. I used two packets per week. Be careful not to get some of the dust in your eyes cause it burns worse than mace! You will have to rinse the tank out after dumping it. I used a pitcher full of hot water and dawn. Don't use a hose... it splashes back. It's definitely an adventure while learning to properly clean this thing but once you get the hang of it - it's easy. I Highly recommend you make sure the tank cap is on securely before using it. That was my first messy mistake. Two people using it full time will fill up about once every 6 days. I recommend you clean it once every 3 days until you get used to it. Keep your eye on the waste level because once it's full and you need to flush it - you're gonna have a bad time. It really does flush with water BUT the more you use - the faster it's going to fill. About 6 months in I noticed an issue with the seal/flush lever. It wouldn't completely lock back in without a battle and attempting to flush it once it was pushed all the way back in was a nightmare. It also started dripping (very small amount) fluid during the flush. We put a puppy pad under it to protect the floor. Size wise it's not far off from a standard toilet but the bowl is much shallower so be careful when wiping. Also it's super sturdy - we were able to stand on it like a stool when needed. Overall a good buy for the price, there's no smell and upkeep is fairly easy. I've heard great things about the composting toilets but they're around $1,000 so it was a nope for me. I recommend this for sure! ... show more

  • What you really want to know
Style: Standard 5.3-Gal Travel Toilet
I bought this toilet to add to my Sprinter van conversion for middle of night emergencies. While on the road I was very pleased to see that it worked efficiently and I waited to write this review until I had battle tested it, including emptying the black tank: - This toilet does NOT smell. I ended up deciding to see what it was like to use it for solid waste (see, that is what you really want to know about). I used it several times in that capacity and after several days I emptied the black water tank. - When I emptied the black water tank I gagged multiple times from the smell (holy sh*t! - literally). Which is a true testament to how well this toilet works, and yes, I put in the chemicals. - Septic friendly (single-ply) toilet paper seems to be the best option, so while it might not be luxurious, it will do better in the system. - Due to the aforementioned gagging I *really* recommend not using this for solid waste unless your olfactory senses are severely compromised and you won't care (or you just like gagging... we all have our things). - Should you need to use this for solid waste, consider emptying it at your earliest convenience. Overall, I couldn't be happier with this purchase and I hope you will be too. PS - every once in a while you see a review about this toilet that says that it leaks, or the seals aren't quite right. Be smart like I was and run water through the system and shake it around to make sure it's water tight. That way you can swap it unused if you get an imperfect one. ... show more

  • The Throne of the Wilderness
Style: Standard 5.3-Gal Travel Toilet
Let me tell you, this Camco portable toilet is the VIP seat of the great outdoors. I used to dread nature’s call while camping—squatting behind a bush like some kind of woodland goblin. But now? I sit like royalty. Setup was easy. I placed it in my tent like I was installing a luxury bidet in a palace. The seat? Surprisingly comfy. The flush? Manual, but satisfying—like sending your problems down a vortex of dignity. The 5.3-gallon tank holds more than my emotional baggage, and the seal is so tight it could keep secrets from the NSA. No smells, no spills, no regrets. I now refer to it as “The Porcelain Commander,” even though it’s plastic. My friends laughed—until they used it. Now they bow before it. If you camp, road trip, or just want a backup throne for when your home toilet is occupied, this is your golden ticket. Long live the Camco! ... show more

  • Best Little 'Personal' Portable Restroom! Best Little 'Personal' Portable Restroom!
Style: Standard 5.3-Gal Travel Toilet
This is the best thing I could have gotten for our camping trips aside from the tents. My kids made fun of me, 'Oh mom, what's the matter, can't walk to the restrooms at the campsite?'... No, I do not want to walk through the trees in the complete dark to the restrooms. Well, those nay sayers used my "Queen's Throne" as I call it, regularly. All night long too. Especially convenient for the little ones (6 & 7 years old). I filled the top half with clean water upon arrival. On the suggestion of a friend, I dropped one of the little waste dissolving pouches into the bottom with a large cup of water to 'get it started' & not have the 'first use' get stuck to the bottom so-to-speak. There were 2 children & 2 adults who used this on a regular basis Friday night, Saturday when we were at the campsite & night & Sunday morning. It did not need emptying until we left Sunday mid-morning & there was still a good amount of clean water in the top half. There was absolutely no odor at all!! I was very pleasantly surprised & pleased about this! Waste went cleanly down the opening & the 'flusher' rinsed everything all nice & clean. Disassembled, I will say that 5 gallon bottom 'waste' container is very, very heavy (well for me anyway), so my son had to get it into the car so I could take to the dump station. Very easy to empty into the station disposal 'opening' (I VERY STRONGLY suggest having a pair of rubber gloves on hand lol). Not to be gross, but everything was 'dissolved' & there was not that horrendous odor you'd think there would be. Those waste tablets that come with the unit work very well. Take the hose available at the dump station, rinse the bottom part out & done. I bought a small container of sanitizing hand wipes that I kept next to the unit so everyone could 'wash' their hands after use. Going tent camping, pontoon boat for the day, etc. - this is the unit to have for convenient, sanitary, odorless 'personal' restroom convenience. Very, very highly recommend it. We will get a lot of use out of this. Pictures are of the Queen's Throne positioned in my tent & the $1.99 wipes we used. ... show more

  • Functional until it became flawed
Style: Standard 5.3-Gal Travel Toilet
Worked great until the plastic latches deformed and it started leaking clean water during flushes. Used this as an emergency item in my van for 2 years and it recently started leaking. The latched lost their ability to hold the 2 pieces of the assembly together and the seal wa lost. A word of warning- if it's stored somewhere cool without temperature and elevation fluctuations it might hold up better. But if it's kept in a garage, attic of van it where temperature varies regularly, the plastic might warp over time like mine did. I'm going to try a thetford or dometic next. ... show more
