    • Incredibly Nice Set of Pots and Pans

This set of 6 pots and pans with lids is very nice quality - exactly what I expected from Calphalon. First, the cookware is substantial and has very thick bottoms for even heating, and large metal handles for ease of hanging on to and sturdiness with flipping the items in the skillets. These handles are not going to unscrew themselves over time and require maintenance. They are riveted on very strongly to the sides of the pots and pans. The lids are all glass with metal handles and have steam holes on the deep sides of the lids in case you need to vent your pot. The sizes the pots come in are very convenient, though I did find the largest pot to be a bit on the short-walled side. But I can use it as a really big saucepan, and something else for bigger soups and batches of chili. The non-stick coating works like a dream and I had no problem frying up a block of tofu one day, or a sticky parmesan- coated pasta the next. The surface is slick and fries very nicely. The color of the set is a lovely green/grey that looks great in my kitchen and is scratch-proof (only time will tell there). There is only one drawback to this set of cookware, and that is hot very hot the handles get. You cannot touch them due to the conductivity of the high heat to the metal handles. There were 2 silicone trivets/pot holders included with the set and I'm guessing it's because Calphalon knows just how hot as blazes their handles get. I'm happy to use the potholders/handle holders because this set is above average in its performance. The instructions also recommend that the items be hand-washed, and I'm a bit worried about what will happen to the non-stick coating if I put them in the hot dishwasher, so I'll try to keep them out of there. But sometimes you just need to feel like a kitchen item is sanitized or you don't have the time or energy to hand wash. We'll see. Overall, this cookware set is really well put together, very sturdily built, and performs excellently on the stove and under the broiler. I'm very impressed! ... show more

We haven't purchased a new set of quality cookware for probably 20 years, other than practically disposable stick free frying pans from Homegoods. Decided to take a chance on these, and while only time will tell on how they hold up, we are so far very impressed. This set has a solid weight, distributing heat well from our propane stove top, and comes with a nice variety of size and lids (the pot lids have two vents in them), and we love the muted green color. So far everything I've thrown at it slides right out (swordfish, bacon, cheese burgers) so the ceramic coating is so far doing its job. The lack of PFAS materials is a HUGE bonus for us. If I was forced to pick a nit, it's that the handles get hotter than expected from similarly constructed sets. So treat them like you would cast iron cookware and have an oven mitt or pot handle cover handy. ... show more

This is an excellent set of pots and pans. Many years ago I got a full set of Calphalon stainless steel pots and pans and they have been great over the years. Very good quality. I figured these would be similar in quality, and for the most part that has been true. One issue I have with these, that was not an issue with the stainless steel set years ago is that these handles get hot. They don't get hot enough to burn your hands, but they can get mighty uncomfortable. I have some heat resistant soft gloves that I use for a small coffee roaster I have, and they will be used when I use these pots and pans. The handles are attached with rivets and should be secure as long as you own these. The weight of these is very nice, not too heavy, but heavy enough to provide even cooking. All the pots have a lid, and there is one for the large skillet as well. The lids for the pots reach down a bit into the pot and have a set of holes on opposite sides. These work great for straining, or venting heat. You can also rotate the lids so the holes are covered. The pots have a small pour spout and this will allow the straining or venting holes to work. This is a very nice feature. The non-stick is too an extreme. My word, this is slick. When washing them by hand (prefer not to use the dishwasher for these) after rinsing the soap off, there are only a couple small bubbles of water on the bottom, with the sides having more of the water bubbles. Be aware that using a spatula to turn something in the skillet might be a little challenging due to how slick the surface is. But, I'll gladly live with that "problem" to get clean-up that is very simple. I have no idea how long these will still non-stick. I've read that even the best non-stick pots and pans begin losing the slickness over time. So, crossing my fingers that is a long time down the road. Right now, I am very happy with this set. I love these pans. I wasn't sure about the color, but it's exactly as pictured, subtle and classy. I LOVE the lids. They are obvious quality and very unique. I like that they let you see the food you're cooking without lifting the lid. They have these deep tops with slits that line up with the pour spouts on the pan. Perfect for pouring off liquid and serves as ventilation. Twist the lid and it's sealed. Very cool! The little sauce pan has measurements marked right into the pan so a measuring cup isn't necessary. The spouts are great for pouring sauces and food without making a mess! Clean-up was a breeze; I could have wiped the pans clean with a paper towel. The eggs really demonstrate just how non-stick the pans were. They just rolled out-I only used a little butter. The pans also came with two hot pads for setting hot pans. These pans are a fantastic value! I highly recommend!!! ... show more
