Description

Prized for their ornate foliage patterns and colors and related to prayer plants (marantas), calatheas bring stunning beauty to home decor as tropical houseplants. This grower's choice calathea assortment is a hand-selected variety of fully rooted plants in 4" nursery pots, reflecting the gorgeous diversity of calathea foliage in size and shape. Our assorted collection of live foliage plants may include varieties such as Calathea ornata (pinstripe calathea) or Calathea makoyana (peacock plant). Pinstripe calathea features pink or white pinstripes on dark green leaves. The underside is maroon. The attractive patterns on peacock plant's leaves resemble a certain famous bird's tail feathers. Calathea lancifolia (rattlesnake plant) sports wavy blade- shaped leaves that are bright green on top and overlaid with alternating dark green leaf-like markings. Other possibilities include Calathea orbifolia, with its oval-shaped leaves and contrasting green stripes, and Calathea roseopicta ‘Purple Rose’ or purple prayer plant, which stands out with its dark pink color. These live plants in pots display well with air plants, aloe vera, flowers, a snake plant, a monstera plant, a spider plant, or pothos.Calatheas desire medium to bright, indirect light, but tolerate low light. Being tropical plants they prefer temps in the range of 65 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Avoid placing your calatheas next to drafty doors or windows during cold weather. To better mimic the humidity of their native habitat, consider using a humidifier or plant mister filled with filtered water or a pebble tray. Benefit from being planted in potting soil. You can feed them with a general houseplant fertilizer during the growing season.

Took a star off for that because it was a mess taking them out and the pot was way too big for the root balls and they were saturated. Had to repot a size down to prevent root rot. What do I do when my plant looks like this? The edges are crispy and it doesn't seem to be growing new leaves. I mist, I watch how much I water. None of my other calatheas look like this. Please help!

After reading all the reviews I was a little nervous if I was going to get plants in good or bad condition. From the moment I opened the box and peeked inside, I was impressed. They packaged them so well and secure. And I can't speak for the plants others have received but mine were pretty close to perfect and sooo beautiful!!! I got soo mad at myself when I accidently left them in the sun too long and kinda fried quite a few leaves on each plant which totally bummed me out. They're still pretty plants just marred a bit. These arrived in perfect condition, and I was so pleased with how beautiful they are. They are stunning, and I love the assortment. I took off one star, because one of the plants was clearly a 2 inch plug which looked like it had been hastily repotted into a 4 inch container. These Calathea prayer plants came today, and I was so excited to get them. I will say that they arrived exactly on time, and were packed perfectly!! I am absolutely thrilled with the first 2 in the photographs, but not so much with the other 2. I realize that some of the leaves are just brown, and can be removed, but particularly with the third plant, which might have been my favorite, the leaves appear to be rotting from the center of the plant, so I don’t know if removing all of that is going to help. But, on other positive notes, the variety was wonderful, and I am extremely happy with the condition and health of the first 2, and the fourth will probably be fine also, with a little tlc. Plant pit was covered with plastic, secured with an elastic band, loosely wrapped in butcher paper and put into a long thin box. WAY too much empty space for the plant to move around in. After unwrapping all of that, the plant was smaller than I expected, a lot of dirt had gone into the bag but it was healthy. I transplanted it into a bigger pot and it looks much better ... show more
