i bought this hotplate to do my canning with to save on my kitchen range. Even though the unit heats well and does work for with my pressure canner, The main issue is it takes sooooooooo long for it to get my canner up to temperature. I purchased this because we got an induction cooktop which i love...but which also will not work with my presto canner. First, I followed instructions that said to burn off the fumes from the cure on the burner....done. Then the next thing I did was whip out my presto. IT WORKS BEAUTIFULLY! Granted...it's a tad slower...but just a tad. No biggy at all. It was also easy to regulate. I had no problem getting the burner set to where the weighted pressure gauge gently rocked...and it stayed that way. I am SO GLAD I got this burner rather than the cheaper. I debated for over a week about it thinking that the cheaper burner would be just fine but knew instinctively that to can...you need a more substantial burner that can take the prolonged heat and the added weight of a full canner. I was right and this is the one that did the job perfectly. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Some of the reviews said that it took them about an hour to heat up water. Mine heated up very quickly. Works great for pressure canning. So glad I bought it.

This is a very high quality hot plate. I would have given all 5’s but the temperature control knob doesn’t feel sturdy. It does work perfectly though.

    • Great for Pressure cookers!
I needed a hot plate for a pressure cooker and saw reviews were good for this product. I have to agree. I've used it for a week now daily for a pressure cooker and it has done well. Once it reaches 15psi you need to turn it down a bit at a time before it settles there but that's the only negative. Heats up just as quick as my stove. Very sturdy. ... show more

I moved into a new place with a glass top stove. I do a lot of canning every year. I was worried the weight would break the stove top. I bought this hot plate to use with my water bath and pressure canners. The canners are stable when sitting on the hotplate.
