This exhaust fan is wonderful! Read the instructions before installing and installation will be smooth. I have installed several exhaust fans so thought I could charge in and do this one myself. After about an hour, I was ready to return it and then, sat down with a cup of coffee, and read the instructions. Thirty minutes later, it was in and working and I did not have to go into the attic! The instructions very clearly show how to take the side with electric and vent off. Put this in first with connections in place and the rest of the unit slides in smoothly. Hope this helps everyone.     • Hole in existing ceiling must be cut approx 2" too big.

The electrical box sticks out the side and with the overall height of the unit it will not fit into the opening instructed to cut. By the way the template is the exact size of the fan unit. For fitting into an existing ceiling you need to cut the hole about 2" bigger than the template. Then you have some drywall ceiling work to fix. I know, sounds like I did something wrong. Nope. You will need to cut the hole oversize and fix after installation. Think like a custom kitchen pantry built offsite the exact same height as the ceiling. When you try to rock it into position it will be too tall. With the electrical box on the side (not removable) you can't slide it straight up into the hole. I hope this makes sense... ... show more

Works great and the exhaust fan sound is at a minimum. When we had what we thought was a problem with the unit, they sent us a brand new one to replace, but eventually we found out it was an installation problem. Excellent product and excellent customer service.

(No Attic Access Required) - HA! Yes, I DID install the fan without access to above floor (attic) - but what a hassle! Page 7 of the factory instructions I received with the fan SPECIFICALLY SAYS: "...requires an accessible area (attic or crawl space) ..." (see pic attached with this review). ONE reason for the needed access is: without access there appears no way (at least I couldn't find a way) to install the required support brackets. Also, attaching the ductwork is difficult without above access. For the required support a separate scrap piece of wood was installed between the joists. The fan was then disassembled to separately install that part of the fan that includes the 4" ductwork connection. The fan box can now be attached to the ceiling using the included wood screws. Make sure the fan box has mated with the ductwork piece - it's a "blind" fit. Man, what a hassle. Did some electrical wiring changes also. Whew! Could there have been an easier way to install? I sure hope so. I would not recommend unless you have access above the fan OR you are an experienced handyman/carpenter. This listing should change. ... show more
