I also recently had a new wooden fence installed around my property, and it helped locate the errant nails dropped by the installers. I’m not too sure if it’s really finding things in my yard or not. The first one I received didn’t work at all. Even when I touched it to metal poles, keys and other things. Seller did send a quick replacement and this at least beeps/vibrates around obvious metal objects. Not too sure about things hidden in the yard, but we’ll see. ... show more

This is good to detect metal when held close to the target. It's not a "treasure detector", unless you're down on the ground. When used to check people or items for metal, it works great and is more compact than the typical "wand". It comes with it's own holster so it can be kept on your person rather than having to put it down each time. ... show more

This is a fun little metal detector. You can take it on your trips to the beach and just kind of drag it through the sand. If you hear it chirp, then you have a metal item to dig up.     • It does what it says it does and no more
Ok, its pretty sensitive. I had it on walking from my rural mailbox up to my house. It beeped if I got it too close to my steel toed boot.... Once in a while it would indicate metal, probably pull tab or something. I didnt go digging for it to find out. You get real close to metal and it beeps much faster. Anyway I got to part of driveway with power line along it and it beeped continuously. No other metal or at most some old pull tab or bottle cap or something. But had to be the power line to do it constantly. Put it this way, the best use of this stud finder on steroids probably to find a dropped nut, bolt, screw, etc in grass when working on something. Its really only good in area without any serious amount metal in the environment. Oh and it did find a hidden nail in the drywall when I tried that. So guess it would probably work as a stud finder, though might be a wee bit too sensitive to be good at it. No adjustments other than on/off and whether you want beeping, vibration, or combination of beeping-vibration. It just automatically gets more frenetic and beeps much faster when very close to metal. ... show more

    • Good quality, unsure on price point because this is my first
I have used metal detectors and pinpointers in the past but they were all name brand, high quality items. I just bought an off brand, cheaper detector this year and have been looking for a pinpointer. I chose this one because of it being able to be submerged in water. I tested this while laying in bed and I was pleased with how well it seemed to work. It detected my phone from more than a foot away BUT for small objects, like my ring, the pinpointer had to be held much closer to detect it. Like 3-5 inches away. Or else it didn't pick it up. I only left1 star off for this because I'm not sure how to tell if this is typical or not considering I've only used 1 brand before and again, it was top of the line.
