  • Slick little scope!
Got this scope just a few days ago. Took it out to the woods and sighted it in on my bench-rest within about 15 minutes (setup and sighting time total). Got to say that this is a nice sight. I took a few shots with it after sighting and seems to be dead-on accurate. My reticle is crisp and clear in the sight. Some reviewers mentioned a blurry reticle, mine was actually very clear. The sight came with a rain-guard tube extension and polarized sun lense (for high-light shooting). Brightness settings are very good in any light, in red and in green. So far its held its zero great. For an entry level priced sight it's actually of great quality and make. Props to Bushnell for putting together a great sight for the right price. (((Update: 1/31/13))) Still loving this scope. I've had it for about a year now. No malfunctions. No defects. It holds a zero just fine. Only gripe is that each reticule is positioned slightly off so you cannot truly switch between reticules and stay 100% accurate. Whatever setting you decide to use full-time though does seem to hold it's zero without issue or movement during switching reticules. Still love it and will continue to use it. Bushnell makes some good entry level products so far. ... show more

  • An MRO for a Bushnell price.
Size: One Size Color: Black
I was really surprised by the quality of this little optic. I mounted it up on my Stribog 9mm, did a rough zero and took it to the range for a quick 200 rounds. Pros: * Exceptional field of view * Good optical clarity * Daylight bright * Night vision settings * Auto shutoff feature * Remembers your last setting after it turns off, just bump a button to turn back on * Solid body and construction Cons: * No shake awake feature, you have to hit a button on the side after it shuts off * Cheap but serviceable mount. I will replace it, but it tightened up fine on my rail and is stable * No obvious way to screw in a kill flash * Bushnell logo and lots of white writing on the body and caps looks cheap All and all, easily worth the money. In my book, it is a better optic than any of the others near its price. If it holds up over the long haul I will be getting a couple more to replace my narrow body Holosun and Vortex dots. ... show more

  • Great product Great product
I purchased this item a couple years ago and put it on my mini-14. I did have to get Ruger scope rings, but that is typical for the mini-14 as it has it's own proprietary scope ring setup. It holds the zero just fine even with the couple of thousand rounds I have shot. I like how the battery lasts a long time, although I still carry extras. One time I left the battery on for a couple of days and it still worked. The next round that I shot conked out the batter, but even with a fresh battery it still held it's zero. I'm more of a hunter and not really a sharp shooter. It's one thing to go the range and sure, with my 16" barreled mini -14 I and this scope I can get a 3" grouping at 100 yards (the smallest red dot fills the paper at that distance, I'm sure that in the proper hands and with a lead slead the mini could probably do better). When I'm hunting sea otters I have about 2 seconds to aim and fire before they dive again (from a moving boat), and last year hunting I was still able to take many, many sea otters. The last one I hunted I shot at 120 yards, and with this scope the shot went right where I hoped it would. I got a 2nd mini-14 for backup and also to have on hand when I hunt with somebody else. I was so happy with my purchase from a couple years ago I went ahead and bought another one. I bought this for the fact that it has zero magnification (which allows for quick acquisition), and the fact that it is waterproof/fog proof (I hunt in a marine environment where it is often raining when I am hunting). This scope has not let me down. I highly recommend this product. Maybe it's not an EOTech, but it certainly is not in the EOTech price range. ... show more

  • Nice Dot - easy fix
Size: One Size Color: Black
The dot is solid, had some issues with the power shutting down after a few shots... the cap screws down fine... there must be a slight gap under the cap because the battery comes loose from the fitting inside where it sits. I put a wedge of paper under the cap to push the battery down and seat correctly, problem solved. I have other dots that have a spring underneath the cap. so should be an easy fix for Bushnell to correct. Meantime, my little wedge worked fine. The dot sighted fine and held. Not a fan of manual on/off and not shake awake, but for the money, it seems to do the job. I'll be interested to see how it performs under duress in training... still worth the money for the sight picture. ... show more

  • Great Optic for the Money
I recently decided to take a different approach to my optics on a Ruger 10/22 that I built. I switched from a heavy bull barrel and thumbhole stock to a Hogue overmolded stock and Tactical Solutions lightweight aluminum barrel. My 3-9x40 RimFire scope from Nikon was a little out of place on the smaller, lighter rifle so I began researching red dots. I currently use an UltraDot on my Ruger 22/45 pistol and I love it. I didn't have the cash for another one so I started looking for something in the sub-$100 range. This optic came up time and time again as being a solid performer with a great price to performance ratio. Please note that I am not comparing this optic directly to the UltraDot (which cost about twice as much), but I am using the UltraDot as a benchmark for my expectations of what I think a quality red dot optic should be. Upon receiving this optic, I was immediately pleased with the build quality of the optic. It has a smooth matte finish with just a slight amount of texture. The knobs are sized well for easy manipulation. The caps on the elevation and windage adjustments fit securely and the slotted controls click into place with good detents. They're slightly mushier than those on my UltraDot and also on my Nikon RimFire Scope, but for the amount of money I paid, they are definitely acceptable and create positive feedback. The rings supplied are of good quality. In my opinion, they're slightly oversized for this optic and I don't care for the left/right split rings as they make mounting and alignment a little tricky, but they're certainly usable. I've got a replacement set on order and will swap them out when they come in. This is not as much a negative as it is a preference so I don't count against Bushnell for this. The reticle selector switch and the rheostat for controlling both the color and brightness of the reticle both click firmly and have good, solid detents. The included lens shade and polarizing filter are good to have, although I didn't use either on my outing with the optic, but plan to keep at least the polarizing filter in my bag for bright days. The optic itself is clear and bright. There is no magnification, but the glass gives me a bright, glare-free picture. The red reticles showed up well on the 4 and 5 setting when out shooting on a bright, clear day. The smallest dot is the hardest to see, but it is the most precise. The next dot up shows up very well as do the crosshairs and the circle/dot reticle. While I find the smallest dot to be the most precise, I love the circle/dot reticle for plinking. It's bright and still allows some precision. The green reticles are extremely hard to see in bright daylight. Trying them out in my home, I find the green to be pleasing to the eye and less fatiguing (red tends to glare pretty badly in low light situations). If I was going to be shooting at an indoor range or maybe at dusk, I'd probably switch over to the green. Otherwise, I'll stick with the red. I found no issues with the brightness or with glare. I also found that the point of aim didn't change by much when changing reticles. I wasn't shooting from a rest for all of my shooting so I can't say for sure, but for plinking at the range and shooting tin cans, you can switch reticles at will and you'll be on target for anything larger than a quarter. I found the build quality of this optic more than adequate. I also found the operability and quality of the electronics to be of acceptable quality. At half the price of my UltraDot, it definitely has significantly more value. I would rate this optic as one with a 50% higher price point. I personally don't mind a larger optic on a pistol, but for some, it might be too large so I would recommend this for lightweight rifles or an AR-style .22 rifle. I've seen reports of people using this on .223, 5.56 and .308 rifles, but I'll be limiting my use of this optic to the .22 cartridge. I have no reason to believe this optic wouldn't hold up to the repeated abuse from a larger caliber centerfire rifle, but I won't be testing it. Bushnell claims that it will work with shotguns as well as centerfire rifles. If you're looking for a sub-$100 optic, look no further. If you think you don't need the multi-reticle optic with dual colors, you might consider the version with just the red dot. I actually didn't see that one until after I ordered this one. I'm happy regardless but you may prefer something a little more limited in function. If you're doing any all-weather or desert run-and-gun competition, I'd suggest something a little more robust. But for kicking around at the local range or the family farm, this would compliment a .22LR build nicely. Please feel free to comment with questions or concerns and I'll try and get back to you if I can. ... show more

  • Buyer beware......mounting.... Buyer beware......mounting....
Size: One Size Color: Multi
1 Star isn't because the unit is bad, but because it may be unusable for many. Don't know if this is a recent change in production, but the mounting pattern isn't a match for a Glock #1 MOS plate (Docter/Vortex/Fastfire), or an RMR (Block MOS plate #2). Conflicting information in reviews and website/literature as to one of the two aforementioned, but it doesn't fit either. The registration pins in the corners are a match for a Vortex Viper, but the screw holes are in different places (see attached pic), and completely different from an RMR. Maybe this is a recent change in production, but if case someone screwed it up. Had to return as I can't use this with any mounting pattern. Edited to Add: ....I now see the issue. The Glock MOS plate #1 has two pairs of mounting holes. The ones that sit more 'forward' match the Vortex Venom and Viper, the ones more rearward will match the Bushnell. So on the factory Glock MOS plates, the Bushnell will mount. But if you have a sight cut or another mount that is intended for a Burris Fasftfire/Vortex, then the Bushnell's screw holes will not line up. For example, it looks like the adapter plates for the M&P Core that are intended for the Fastfire/Vortex only have one pair of mount holes. So beware to those who intend to buy this for a pistol. It seems that the Glock factory MOS plate #1 with two pairs of mount holes is the only one you can use this with....and with the rear mount holes I'd say that's an unwise choice by Bushnell but maybe they could only fit it that way with the battery compartment. ... show more

  • Loking for an accurate sight? Look thru this one!
Purchased this sight from Amazon.Com at a great price. Shipping was fast too. Now to the meat of the subject, the sight. Being older and with failing eyesight, I opted to use a red dot sight. This model was one of many I studied before I bought it. Now I'm very glad I did my homework and got this model. Mounted on a Marlin Guide Gun in .45-70, this sight is both strong and compact. Something that was needed on a stout recoiling weapon. Of the four reticles available in this model, I found that the 3MOA dot within the circle to be the fastest to get on target with, and gave the best contrast of sight-to-target of all four. Was zeroed in under five minutes and then went back to 50 yds where I begin to get serious. With a known accurate handload, I was able to shoot a three shot group at that range with all three touching. I could not better that with a scope at 4X. Further, going back to 100 yds, and the same dot in the circle setup, I was still keeping the rounds within an inch of each other. Again, could not better that with a scope. By having no magnification the ability to hold on target is actually an improvement as you have no "Scope Wiggle" as you strive to keep the crosshairs on target. With a red dot, you are able to concentrate on the target and not the sight. For me, this was great. Something else too, the sight has included with it, an extention/sunshade and a polarized lens that screws into the end to aid in harsh light. The extention will help if you need a slightly longer tube in mounting on some weapons with a wider base for attacment. A nice addition. Granted, along with many others, I am not impressed with splittop rings, but that is easily fixed by getting a good quality 30mm rings of your choice. QD rings from UTG were my choice as they are strong and afforadable. So, in closing, if you want a red dot sight that will give you accurate shots consistantly, provides the right amount of light for every lighting condition, and will take the punishment of a big bore rifle and stay right on target....get this sight. This is not a toy sight for some airgun that shoot little plastic bullets,(but I'm sure it would be great for one too) but it is designed and built for serious shooting. As I said, I could not have shot better if I had put a scope on this weapon, and I have, but find this sight much better. Good Hunting ... show more
