I mounted this Burris FastFire III on my shotgun I use for turkey hunting and it has been a game changer. I love it. The dot is crisp and easy to pick up, even in bright daylight, and the automatic brightness adjustment works very well. It holds a zero perfectly, even after hundreds of rounds, and the sight picture stays clean and uncluttered. I really like the top mounted battery. No need to remove the optic and re-zero just to swap batteries. Controls are intuitive, and the build quality feels rugged enough for real use, not just the range. For the price, reliability, and performance, the FastFire III is a fantastic optic that delivers far more than expected.

This is one solid holosight. It holds zero with no problems. I'm using it on a very unusual caliber. The pistol is an RIA 22TCM100. The rounds are all tactical. They are like small "necked down" .223. Same casing diameter as 9mm. Which this pistol will fire both 9mm and 22TCM. Comes w both barrels. The mags hold either rd. The muzzle flash is monster. But does not impede the shooter. I ran 400 rounds through the pistol with the Burris attached. No problems. You will need to tighten it down. I'm looking for a smaller footprint screw to do a more permanent retention on the pic rail which I had installed to accommodate the sight. Even after it got hot, and **first** time at the range, the ready screw loosened. I used a penny to tighten it back up. Stayed on zero. stayed tight from there on. I forgot to bring the screwdriver that comes with the sight to dial in the MOA. Had merely bore sighted it at home and it was already near zero. I need to dial it in with just a couple fine minor adjustments and it'll be dead on bullseye. Like others here have said, it takes a couple tries to get a quick acquisition getting used to using such a small holographic. But once you're used to it, the red dot will come right to your eye. And for rapid fire shots, it works very well. I dim it a bit and that's just personal preference. I tried a cheaper holosight and like the saying goes, you get what you pay for. One had the front glass pop right off. A friend used another brand that was NOT cheap and it fell apart. Burris warranties these and stands behind their products as I did go online to various forums. The dot, like others explained is not (perfectly) spherical. But it's close enough to drive nails and it's toughness is what counted for me. On a pistol with a super quick 1911 comp reset trigger, that slide will cycle 18 rounds flying/dumping. So that this sight holds up to such rigorous movement is why I gave it 5 stars. I have other high end larger holos on rifles. I almost put the small Trijicon on this but wow it would've killed my pocket book. I'm very happy I saved my hobby funds and went with this. Although this is not inexpensive by any means, it's not $650-$800 either. It's a perfect happy medium. The guys at the range call it the "RoboCop" as this pistol cal is similar to a 5.7. But the blast is massive while the recoil is nill. I get a lot of curious folk whom I let give her a whirl. All smiles. As a nut for 1911 frames, I went this route over the FN and it was quite a bit less of a price tag.. It's a great set up especially now with that Burris. Yes. It'll be a good addition to any pistol set up as far as I'm concerned if you are wanting to use (this type of sight). I'm planning on using this for competitive match. It's not something I meant to carry. Although again, that's personal preference for your specific needs. Good product, good company. I have no complaints. Certainly recommend πππΊπΈ *See photos*

I now own three of these. I got the first one for my turkey shotgun after having some focus issues with my eyes. I hate to admit it, but I am getting a bit older as far as my eyes and a couple of gobblers got out of Dodge when using my turkey scope and/or the vent rib. I researched forever trying to figure out if I wanted 8 or 3 moa and I am so glad I got the 3 as it doesn't cover up my target too much which forces me to aim a bit better. My turkey season last year was a lot more successful with it and after taking that pounding (my 12 gauge kicks like a mule) it still holds the first zero and I haven't adjusted it one bit. Next I decided I wanted to try one of these out on my new handgun; a Canik TP9SFX. Talk about quick to set up and zero, and start dinging the metal target I have. Before this pistol and this set up I couldn't hit the proverbial barn with any type of pistol. I don't know how many times I said I would never own a pistol cause I could never hit anything with em. The Canik and the FF3 sure changed that. That Canik came with just the right optics plate I needed and its just a sturdy, quality set up. I also just got a Taurus TX22 and after once again not being able to focus well on the rear, front, and target with the open sights it was just a no brainer to get the FF3 again. I mean you push the button once and it auto adjusts to the light outside. It has two other settings, but I have never needed them in any light, in any hunting situation, or any target shooting I have done. Hit the button three more times to turn it off. I like simple and dependable things. This is it. I have also never had a battery run out on me yet, but I do have some spares just in case. About the only thing I could ever say bad about it is to just be patient with putting the battery in it and tightening the lid as I can see how it would be easy to strip, but being able to not have to take the sight off the gun to put a new battery in it is well worth being careful putting the battery lid back on. And most sights I have seen like this have similar battery compartments if it is on the top of the sight. For me, this sight lets me continue to hunt and shoot the way I was taught; safely, accurately, and always in focus. I also never leave reviews so I hope that tells you something too!

It's a very nice red dot that works fine. Easy to mount to a Springfield XD Mod 3 - 4" pistol. Comes with the mounting screws to mount to the Springfield #1 base. Also comes with a Picatinny mount for other mounting options. My only complaint is the battery cap. As others have said, It's a PITA to get started on straight. I plan to keep it though because of the warranty and the Burris reputation.

This is currently attached to my AR-15 300AAC (Blackout) 10.5" Pistol build. It is generally on my Ruger 22/45 Mk III, but that was recently stolen, so I've been testing it out on some different calibers to see how I like it. Normally I list the positives first then the negatives. In this case the negatives are so few I'll get them out of the way now. 1) THIS THING IS SMALL. 2) Thats about it. I got this for the purpose of being used on my Ruger 22/45 Mk III and Glock 22 Gen 3. I never got around to trying it on the Glock, but for the Ruger, there is no other red dot I would rather go with. I don't know how Burris is able to put out such a nice little red dot for the price they do. Its ridiculous. This is on par with some much more expensive dots I've seen. And the versatility of their different mounting options is awesome. I've shot a 10x12 silhouette at 100 yds with this tiny dot on my .22 Ruger with a close enough grouping to impress myself. I currently have it on a 300 AAC (Blackout) 10.5" pistol build mounted at 45 degrees. and I've tried it on two different 12ga. On the shotguns it was too low (waaay to small), but it held zero just fine. On the 300 AAC, it sits a little too low on the 45 degree offset mount I have for it, so I got a handful of different height picatinny risers to see how I like it. I've sighted it successfully for 50 yds and 100 yds on a variety of calibers, and am very impressed with the rugged, compact design. It comes with a weather guard/protector thing that I am VERY grateful for. (I really can't afford to scratch up my glass). The only downside of that, is it is just a little obtrusive when trying to activate the sight, but not unmanageable. I just use my fingernail to squeeze the button, but it would be a matter of seconds or minutes to file down the guard so its not in the way. I find that the auto brightness setting (the first of 4 power setting when turning on the red dot) is always just a tad lower then I feel comfortable shooting with, so I generally do it manually. All in all, I don't think there is a better compact red dot on the market for 2.5-3x the price. It works beautifully on handguns and can hold its own on larger platforms. I am very impressed and am going to Burris for future optics needs. Speaking of which, Midway currently has a sale on where if you buy one of the Burris AR-536 or AR-332 red dot sights it comes free with a Burris Fastfire III. I'm ordering one and can't wait to test out some new Burris glass and have another one of these little babies for a future pistol build.

I bought this for my Ruger 5.7 which meant I also had to buy a compatible optics plate from Ruger. I was very fortunate to catch this on sale. Installation was simple, remember to keep your blank screws in case you ever take the optic off. Zeroing was easy with my bore sighter and it required minimal adjustment at range time. I appreciate the different brightness settings, but I tend to go for something a more dim. It feels high quality as was exactly what I needed.

I spent a half day sighting in and plinking at golf balls at the range and I am VERY happy with this red dot reflex. I'll provide a more complete review when I've spent more time testing it with a sand bag rest at longer ranges; right now, the variations in shot placement definitely reflect the quality of the shooter and not the sight! This package includes the rail mount base plate with thumbscrew and hardened alignment pins (perfectly tight fit between my flat top AR and the Fastfire III); Torx mounting screws with captive external tooth lock washers (no Loctite needed, with 1 spare screw/lockwasher thoughtfully included in case you lose one); Torx wrench to install the 2 semi-permanent screws; jeweler's screwdriver (nonslip matte finish tip, swivel top plastic handle, much better than needed for adjusting windage and elevation); battery; dust cover/sun shield (not pictured, nice bonus); soft fabric storage pouch for the sight + base + cover; and very minimal mouse-print instructions that experienced shooters won't read anyway. Get your reading glasses and take 1 minute. Before you tear up the battery cover like I did. Things I'd do differently next time: 1. Don't bother with a bore sight. I suspect the factory settings were just fine because I spent most of the day undoing the elevation and windage adjustments I'd made at home based on an admittedly cheap bore sight. Ammo is too expensive and rare to waste like I did. 2. Buy a Flat Top Riser Scope Mount. This sight is SO low profile I couldn't get a good cheek weld with muffs on, the red dot seemed to be at the very top of the lens. At times I thought I'd accidentally turned it off, or maybe the battery had died. No, just shooter error. Use plugs alone, or raise the sight about Β½β -3/4" with a riser rail. 3. Do NOT use the tiny jeweler's screwdriver to reinstall the battery cover. Yeah, it comes off with one... Use a big fat tip screwdriver that fills the slot. Or maybe a penny or nickel. The body of the sight is hardened aluminum; the battery cover may or may not be hardened, but you will definitely tear up the screwdriver slot on the battery cover if you get so excited about your new toy that you just can't bother making a trip to the garage for the correct size screwdriver. Buddy, listen to me, there is NO SENSE reading this review then repeating my mistake. You just spent $250, now treat it like a quality optic worth at least that much. Thank you. The soft rubbery black rectangular pushbutton on the left side is nearly flush with the sight and rotates through 5 settings: Automatic brightness, Hi, Medium, Lo, and Off. The pushbutton does not give any audible and only minimal tactile feedback, so watch the dot. I was shooting on a bright sunny day, standing in both shade and full sun, shooting in the afternoon toward the Sun and was able to find the dot even on the lowest setting. The Automatic brightness setting seemed to provide an even wider range of brightness than the manual settings, if that's possible. The bonus dust cover/glare shield cut the dot brightness just a bit (as expected) so you might experiment leaving it on if you find the dot still too bright for dim light as other reviewers on other websites have claimed. The dust cover has a generous relief cut to fit around the pushbutton but my fat fingers couldn't always press the button far enough with the cover on. I may take a Dremel to the relief cut to make the opening bigger, I suspect most of you won't need to. The elevation and windage screws seem to have a very wide range of adjustment. They do not have audible or tactile clicks, which should be unnecessary anyway. You cannot adjust these with bare hands (i.e., without a small screwdriver like the excellent one enclosed) but I cannot imagine needing to make frequent adjustments. NOTE that if you max out one adjustment screw all the way up or down, you cannot move the other. Don't force the second adjustment screw, just back off the first adjustment screw a tiny bit. Then use plugs not muffs. Or buy a sight riser. Because you didn't need to max out the elevation screw in the first place. I've owned a cheap (<$150) red dot reflex sight before, with plastic body and cheap mount. Don't waste your money on a lesser sight. This is a very high quality optic designed to withstand 1000 Gs, with hardened aluminum body and mount. If you need something even tougher, buy the optional Burris mount that surrounds and protects the entire Fastfire III.

I have the same complaint several others here have: The battery cap and fitting is absolutely worthless. During the initial unboxing, I had a lot of trouble installing the battery cap after placing the battery into the unit. Eventually, I thought I had it tightened sufficiently to work, and went onto the range for target practice. I got through a couple of magazines and then realized the red dot had disappeared. Looked at the unit and the cap had flown off. Thankfully, among the empty casings on the bench, I was able to find it. I removed the optic and placed it in my bag to tackle once more when I got home. When I got home, I got a larger screw driver, applied pressure directly down on the cap - as some had advised online - and promptly stripped the cheap screw driver grove, still unable to get the threads to align. As far as I could tell, the optic itself worked well, but this battery cap issue is a fatal flaw, in my opinion. Pass on this one.
