Description

ED glass, dielectric high-reflective mirror coating, and phase correction coating work together to deliver sharp, bright images. Taking full advantage of Nikon’s long successful history in optical technology, the Monarch 5 binoculars are evidence alone of the sophistication and expertise used to create such high performing sports optics. Designed to give lovers of the outdoors the chance to observe nature in all its spectacular glory, the Monarch 5 series reveal the smallest details, even under the most challenging light conditions. Whether you are stargazing, hiking up a rain swept mountain, or taking a voyage to spot marine life, these versatile, rugged binoculars will provide a clear view and captivate the moment perfectly.Highly Acclaimed PerformanceExceptional image quality is realised across the Monarch 5 range with an advanced lens and roof prism construction. The objective lens diameters of 42mm or 56mm, combined with magnifications from 8x to 20x suit an array of situations to ensure you get the best possible view. Employing Nikon’s legendary ED glass to minimise chromatic aberrations, images of superior contrast and outstanding resolution are delivered. For excellent light transmission across the visible range, dielectric high-reflective multilayer prism coatings offer bright, sharp images with natural colours even in poor light conditions. A phase-correction coating is also applied to guarantee high resolution images at any distance.Highly DurableMade for intense use even under formidable conditions, Monarch 5 binoculars are extremely practical with all models using waterproof and fog-free construction. With a robust housing, the binoculars are waterproof up to 1 metre for 10 minutes, and to prevent fog or mould from forming inside the optical system, Nikon have used nitrogen gas, so a sudden change in weather won’t cloud your view.Categories covered by the Monarch 5 SeriesOutdoors, Camping, Hiking Durability and portability are the perfect combination when enjoying rugged outdoor activities. With this in mind, features have been included to provide effortless operation ensuring you get the very best from these accomplished sports optics. So whether you wear glasses, contact lenses, or use your binoculars without either, you’ll have the perfect view of your chosen subject. • A great binocular for birding.
Style: Binoculars
Easy to focus, clear, waterproof and fogproof makes it ideal for birding and observing nature.

  • A solid starter for the Birder in your life
Style: Binoculars
I bought these bins for my friend Gail, who has started joining me on our Audubon Bird Walks here. She has a nice pair of travel binocs I recommended for her, but the aren’t that great for serious birdwatching. These are far better. Nice size exit pupil makes for simple easy use with a wide-angle view. Good strong color transmission thanks to some good coatings and larger objective lenses. It’s got a great strap, fast focus, easy to hold, and is waterproof. Nice! She is DELIGHTED. ... show more

  • Nice Binoculars For The Buck
Style: Binoculars
The Nikon Monarch 5 8x42 Binoculars are a good bang for the buck! Unless you are made out of money, I think these are “Everyman’s best choice. For years I’ve been using a very inexpensive set, and they worked, but this bird watching season, I wanted to upgrade and finally purchased this set. Set up is simple, as per any online instruction if you don’t know how. I like the fact that one doesn’t have to take off the objective and ocular covers and worry where to put them, as the objective lens covers are actually attached to the objective lens barrels, simply flip them down. The ocular (eyepiece) covers are attached via the lanyard. See the bird, and in two-seconds, lens caps are off and secure, and you are focusing on the bird,or whatever else you choose to view. Images are clear. Working on the big birds now, like ravens, which are easy to follow in flight with these binoculars. Good practice for when the warblers make their appearances. The Nikon Monarch 5 8x42 Binoculars are a nice binocular set. You can spend more, a lot more if you so choose, but the water proof Monarchs, which I recommend, beg to ask why the everyday birder would want to spend more. Focus in on the Milky Way with these for an added treat. ... show more

  • Fantastic pair of bins - Amazing warranty service
Style: Binoculars
I've had my pair for 10 years now and they are still the best pair of bins I've ever owned. I'm and avid birder and they are great for general purpose birding. Bright image. Very large field of view. Close focus is great! Comfortable, portable and light. I've put them through some rough treatment and they have held up incredibly well. Had to send twice over the years to Nikon for minor repairs and they honored the lifetime warranty, no questions asked, both times. I think the only negative to these is that there is no tripod mount but you don't really need to connect them to a tripod unless you want to do digiscoping. If you're looking for an upgrade to your intro pair of bins, these are worth it. ... show more
