I've been using a Bunn for over 45 years. My last one was one of these and think it's about 15 years old. I still use an old 6 cup pot. The new pot, we both hate. The upside is this unit hold more hot more hot water and doesn't take as long to heat up for a second pot for someone not to be mentioned who makes their own coffee, so the 6 cups when made are mine. When your Bunn dies and starts leaking, it's like losing an old friend you've gotten up with every day for years. I love pouring in water and coffee comes out great and it's FAST! It makes perfect coffee, imo. ONE thing to remember- if you go on a trip- turn it off with the switch. Years ago you had to unplug it then Bunn added a switch. Mine never gets turned off. It's there ready to go every a.m. We just don't like the new pots. We give them away to the local swap shop. ... show more

We've had this for less than 2 months and it already started to leak from what we believe is the water reservoir in the back. Pitty, other than that this speed brewer was Awesome!!... but for the money we paid, this is absolutely unacceptable!! To bad, had high hopes for this machine... Update: Initially we gave this a 2 star rating because we thought it leaked. My bad, mystery solved. Turns out it was the faucet next to it that leaked and the water ran over to the machine giving the impression that it had leaked overnight. APOLOGIES to BUNN & Amazon. This speed brewer is Incredible!! We are very happy with our purchase. Would highly recommend... now we have to call the plumber for the faucet, bummer... but we have great tasting coffee!! Update #2: This isn't really an update as it is an observation. The 2 most common complaints I kept reading were 1: it's not hot enough and 2: the coffee keeps overflowing in the filter and makes a mess. I am very familiar with speed/quick brewing machines like this one. We have the commercial version at work and use it every day. This is my theory: answer to 1: this rapid brewer has only 2 buttons, the one on the front that turns on the heating element under the carafe to keep the coffee hot and the one towards the back that turns on the heating element to get the water hot and ready for brewing at ALL times, that's because once you turn it ON you LEAVE IT ON, all the time! This is how it brews your coffee so quickly. DON'T turn the switch off unless you're going to be away for a long period of time, like a long weekend or vacation. Once you're back turn it back on and give it about an hour to get the water in the reservoir nice and hot for your next pot. Answer to 2: it took me about an hour to figure out why it overflowed on me. Ready? This is Not a drip coffeemaker, it's a speed brewer. It can make a pot of coffee in under 2 minutes and standard coffee filters aren't porous enough to allow that much water to flow through it so quickly. You'll either have to purchase BUNN filters that are designed to work with their machines or do what I did and get one of those fancy stainless steel or gold colored ones. They both work great!! Great coffee maker, 10 cup capacity. Quality coffee every morning. Only drawback I've found is be very careful not to overfill the reservoir as it will run over an spill all over the counter. High quality with a brand name. The last Bunn coffeemaker I had lasted over 10 years.

    • I'm a BUNN convert - but call for the flow restrictor

I ordered this Bunn high altitude coffee maker after my husband and I grew increasingly disenchanted with the Cuisinart brand of coffee makers - our last Cuisinart was trouble almost from the very start, and we were looking for something different. I'd read many reviews about this Bunn machine, both positive and negative, and decided to give Bunn a try. I'm so glad I did - my husband and I are now enjoying a no fuss, easy, and generally stress-free coffee making experience every morning. Oh, and the Bunn brews a fast, hot, and delicious pot of coffee! We live at 5000 feet, so the high altitude version of this coffee maker was a good fit for us - the coffee comes out hotter than it would otherwise. A few things to keep in mind: There IS a learning curve using the Bunn. The prep process is slightly different than other coffee makers, but it's not hard to learn, and once you get the hang of how this machine works you CAN brew yourself a pot of coffee while half asleep, just like you did with other machines. Also, like other reviewers have noted, you'll probably want to call Bunn's 800 number and request that free "flow restrictor" part ... The part that they'll cheerfully and promptly mail to you upon request, and the part that they probably ought to just include in the box with the machine. I found that without it you run the risk of having a mess of water and coffee grounds all over the place when you try to brew a full pot of coffee, which is what happened to me. So upon the advice of of other reviewers I called Bunn customer service (yes, Bunn is a true "made in the USA" company, and their customer service folks are here in the USA, which I really appreciate) and had the flow restrictor part within 2 days. It was easy to swap out the existing part, and since then I've had no problems with my Bunn-O-Matic coffee maker. Finally, keep in mind that the Bunn doesn't have a bunch of bells and whistles - no clock, no timer, no automatic shut-off etc. But honestly, the Bunn brews a better cup of coffee, and I like the simplicity of it. I am a Bunn convert and encourage others to give Bunn a try. The overall quality of both the machine and the brewing experience are truly superior to other brands. ... show more

I purchased this as a replacement for our 40 yr old Bunn which was leaking. It will probably out live me. It will still give you hot coffee even if the power suddenly goes out due to its constant supply of hot water. Highly recommended!
