    • Chime has a distorted "fuzzy" sound
Nice clock, keeps perfect time but even with fresh brand new batteries, this chime has a slight distorted "fuzzy" sound. Other reviewers on here complained about how difficult this clock is to set up and they had to watch videos and so forth to get it set up. The instructions are quite clear and straight forward. Just remember when you replace batteries or remove them for some reason, you will need to re-program the chimes and the quiet hours feature so don't toss the manual. The chimes can be turned off completely or turned down to very low. The highest volume setting is very loud but that's also where we get the worst distortion from the chimes. ... show more

I think the directions to get the clock started should be a lot less confusing to understand. You really have to read them several times step by step. I also would like to have the area where the batteries are placed in an area of its own. Not where you need to take the clock off the wall to replace the batteries. With our new technology now a days "let's make it easier for the customer". ... show more

when it chimes it sounds like very low quality, cheap hollow sound. very unhappy with the clock. I is a replacement for a Seath Thomas that I bought 35 years ago.

Purchased this after passing on several antique key-wound mechanical Regulator-type clocks. This one certainly looks the part of vintage and was easy to set-up. I bought it during a sale on Amazon, so it was priced right too. Chimes are well done for an electronic clock and the volume control is appreciated. Lacks the tick-tock of a mechanical clock and the authentic chimes, but certainly seems to be a reliable timekeeper with adequate sounds and it looks great on my office wall.     • Perfect for me!
I absolutely adore this clock. I've been wanting to buy a clock with a Westminster chime that would remind me of the clocks in my grandparents' and in-laws' houses, but I was worried that the newer chimes would sound digital and tinny. I don't use the other two chime options, so I can't comment on them, but the Westminster option sounds beautiful. After the melody plays, when the clock strikes the number of hours, that strike tone is not as deep and resonant as old-fashioned clocks, but I don't care because of the loveliness of the Westminster melody. The instructions are badly written but as another reviewer advised, just read them through a few times to get the gist. After I did that, I was able to get it set up in no time, and I had zero problems. The chimes were synchronized correctly from the get-go (1 chime per hour in the Westminster setting) and all settings worked as they should. Absolutely seamless. I like that we can turn off the chimes at night -- an excellent feature -- but be aware that the "silent" time is preset and not adjustable: the chimes go off at 10:45 p.m. and come back on at 6 a.m. And I like that there is a volume control. It's a nice-looking clock, keeps perfect time, and has been a wonderful addition to our home. I just couldn't be happier. ... show more
