I absolutely adore this clock. I've been wanting to buy a clock with a Westminster chime that would remind me of the clocks in my grandparents' and in-laws' houses, but I was worried that the newer chimes would sound digital and tinny. I don't use the other two chime options, so I can't comment on them, but the Westminster option sounds beautiful. After the melody plays, when the clock strikes the number of hours, that strike tone is not as deep and resonant as old-fashioned clocks, but I don't care because of the loveliness of the Westminster melody. The instructions are badly written but as another reviewer advised, just read them through a few times to get the gist. After I did that, I was able to get it set up in no time, and I had zero problems. The chimes were synchronized correctly from the get-go (1 chime per hour in the Westminster setting) and all settings worked as they should. Absolutely seamless. I like that we can turn off the chimes at night -- an excellent feature -- but be aware that the "silent" time is preset and not adjustable: the chimes go off at 10:45 p.m. and come back on at 6 a.m. And I like that there is a volume control. It's a nice-looking clock, keeps perfect time, and has been a wonderful addition to our home. I just couldn't be happier. ... show more

Purchased this after passing on several antique key-wound mechanical Regulator-type clocks. This one certainly looks the part of vintage and was easy to set-up. I bought it during a sale on Amazon, so it was priced right too. Chimes are well done for an electronic clock and the volume control is appreciated. Lacks the tick-tock of a mechanical clock and the authentic chimes, but certainly seems to be a reliable timekeeper with adequate sounds and it looks great on my office wall. Love the look of this clock and seems to keep time well. The chimes are another story. First, they always were 1 chime short of the time. Someone had posted to go to Bulova.com, and find a fix there. i looked, and could only find the same insert that came with the clock. Decided to start over. Took the batteries out and started from scratch. This time, the chimes would go off at whenever they wanted, when I had it set to be quiet at night. Started again. This time they rang when they were supposed to, but added 2 extra chimes to every hour! I gave up and turned them off. Still love the look of the clock. ... show more

It is a beautiful clock, very easy to set up. Love the chimes. The case is made of wood, but the clock face window and regulator see thru are made of plastic. I feel it is an excellent buy for the price. I replaced a broken 47-year-old clock with this, and the quality and workman ship are almost as good. A couple parts made with cheaper materials, but that's to be expected. ... show more

This clock was listed as "used-like new" - and I'm impressed! It arrived in perfect, unopened condition. It's bigger than I expected, but I'm not complaining - it's a fantastic value for the money - setting it up was easy and the instructions very clear. It's a sturdy, beautiful, substantial clock that seems to keep accurate time, and the chimes are a very classy touch. I like that the volume is easily adjusted and you can turn off the chimes at night. Make sure you have a nice strong hook to hang it with, and two "C" batteries (for the chimes) and one "AA" battery for the clock and pendulum. Very pleased with this future heirloom! ... show more

This is a hard review to write. It's a nice clock but we may be sending it back. We had hoped to get a clock that just counted the hour with a single chime. Watching the Bulova video it appeared that this one came closest to fitting the bill. In addition to the two tunes, which are followed by a simple hour count, it had a simple double chime that we assumed preceded the count. It doesn't work like that. In the Bim Bam mode Every hour is counted with a double chime. Twelve o'clock chimes 24 times while six o'clock chimes 12 times. Although many people turn off the chime at night I find it comforting to be able to count the hour if I'm lying awake in the dark. I find the double chime discomforting. We have the clock in the living room so the 16+ note tune is sometime annoying when watching television (don't mind it at night). A simple two notes followed by a count, which the video implied, would be OK but no such luck. It's a beautiful clock. The chime has a pleasing tone. We are torn because we'd like to keep it. Turning off the chime is not an option. We want a clock with a simple chime. We're going to try living with the Winchester chime turned down a bit. Hopefully we'll be able to hear it in the bedroom at night. Another problem is that the "glass" is plastic. ... show more
