I bought this as it was on sale. The seller was decent and proactive and sent an email saying these rods were getting damaged during shipping. The rods barely hold together. I used jb weld to hold tight. The rods are hollow and thin-walled. The real sign of trouble was that the connector ends have a plastic collar. Seriously? This thing is getting jammed and poked into a hot fire. Granted it doesnt stay in there for long but it is really not a very good poker. I then bought a $10 solid poker as i dont expect this one to last long. I very rarely write negative reviews and i usually live by the reviews others write. The poker is a full 46 inches long when assembled, as it comes in three parts. You twist them together to get a sturdy feeling poker. Only the riveted end poker which is about 4 inches long is cast iron. The rest is hollow metal tubing with plastic connectors at approximately 15 and 30 inches from the poker end. I'm not certain the plastic will hold up over the heat but it should not be directly in the fire like the poker end. Handle is plastic. Feels strong enough for the task, give it a season and I can report on the longevity of it is use. Hard to pass by when similar fire pokers go for 2 or 3 times as much in price. ... show more

Thin walled metal tubing with a pot metal poker tip that’s pop-riveted in place, and PLASTIC collars that thread together the three sections - and a plastic handle. Light weight and 2 pc with PLASTIC joint cover. Isn't this supposed to be a FIRE POKER????? Most likely wouldn't have purchased if I had known how cheap it was, bit what did I expect for under $20. HAHAHAHAHA

This product comes in approximately 3 sections which are screwed together through plastic joints. The plastic handle seems comfortable but is hard to grip in cold weather. The sturdiest piece is about 6” of cast iron material.

I should have read the reviews. It has 2 plastic joints that screw together and a plastic handle. Most likely will melt in a hot outdoor fire pit. I thought it was fairly sturdy. It is hollow tubed. Customer service was friendly. Product not so good

I received this large, solid stainless steel hollow handle of fire pit porker. The hollow stainless steel pole divided into three sections, very thick and looks very firm. Last year I bought a similar fire pit porker from Walmart. Its a solid handle, very small and not firm. Fire pit porker of Amazon is better, firm! The threads for the screw in pieces didn’t line up and this will never work in a fire. It is made out of the thin metal of those older style easy ups and maybe some plastic? Do not buy.
