I bought this copier for a very busy medical office that prints close to 200 pages per day. we also scan about 100 pages daily and this is a very reliable machine with good networking qualities and relatively cheap toner (especially if you buy it refurbished). its been on for almost a month now and its working like charm! i need to mention that this is a replacement for the same name brand but the previous model MFC 6800 which lasted for 3 years before everything started to fall apart. i really recommend this machine as a good work horse. ... show more

    • Started squeaking after 6 months. Terrible support.
I bought this machine 9 months ago. It started squeaking after 3 months. I have contacted support. They will replace with a refurbished machine. However, will only warranty it for 30 days. They said that I can drive the machine to a repair shop that's over an hour away with no guarantee.

Brother advertises this product as a commercial printer, so my review is a comparison with a commercial printer machine of another.... My commercial grade printer/copier is a Toshiba e-Studio 5015. It is a MFC that will email, fax, copy, scan, electronically file. It has a "jam proof" dual sided scanner (hopper capacity of 500+ pages) that will scan 250 pages per minute, high resolution, automatic color detection, multiple kinds of PDF formats to store the scans, hardware OCR, and a copy speed of 35 pages per minute. While the copy speed is not great, the print quality is amazing, always. There is never a paper jam. Did i tell that the scanner has never grabbed two pages at once or jammed! The Toshiba e-Studio 5015 cost is approximately $4500. But the cost per page to print is substantially lower than any other solution because the toner is not expensive. The toner easily supports 20,000 pages of printing text. The Toshiba has a file storage for scanned documents and accounts can easily be set up for multiple users. Tons of other features! My Brother MFC-L6900DW copier has a scan speed of 90-ish pages in super low resolution mode with a hoper capacity of 99 pages (in reality maybe 80 pages depending on thickness). If you select a higher resolution or color scan, it will take 7-10 seconds per page to scan. The scanner will quite often grab two pages at the same time and the scanning has to be redone. But the print speed is amazing. It is every bit of 60 pages per minute and possibly much higher depending on the print job. The print quality however is slightly subpar to the Toshiba machine, but not by much. Brother does an amazing job at printing for certain, and they have high capacity toner cartridges that advertise 5500 pages. I have not worked out the cost per page to print yet, but that is easily done with simple math. All in all, I am very pleased with my Brother, but I seriously wish they would upgrade the scanner. The Brother web site lists the printer at $1600US. Crazy. I purchased mine on Amazon for around $625 and a high capacity toner for approximately $120. obviously these prices do not anywhere approach the $4500 price tag from Toshiba commercial printer, but the price per page to print is substantially higher on a Brother because of the toner price. I am not sure how to amortize the cost of the printer in the calculation of cost per page to print. I hope this comparison helps. BTW, i use a Mac for all of my work product and the rest of my office uses Windows PCs on a network. ... show more

    • Broken out of the box
The printer had a "jammed paper" error straight out of the box. It's taken us weeks to get help from Brother as to how we can get it repaired, and we still haven't been able to print a single page.

    • Very Poor quality machine
We have had this now for 3 months and have had several issues with it. We have called Brother 2 times and nothing seems to get resolved. When we scan things there is random lines that come across the scan, we have tried to clean it and that is not the issue. We will try to get it to scan double sided and when you get back to your computer it only scanned one side. Often times it will not connect with our computers even though they are all hard wired. We do scan quite a bit and often times the papers will be pulled in crooked and completely destroy your original copy. On the plus side things seem to print fine and the staff are happy they can fax from their computers with it. Overall, I am regretting my purchase of this all in one. ... show more
