  • Simple and Solid
The media could not be loaded. Bought it for a backup power source if we have power failures. Assembly is so easy to install wheels and handles. Comes with Oil and a funnel. No need elbow grease because it comes with a battery for push start. Let see for the long run for durability and reliability.

  • Exceeded expectations
This was purchased as an emergency generator for power outages. It is set up to run a 15000 BTU window unit A/C, a chest freezer, the 22 cu ft refrigerator, the fan and control board on a propane furnace, the ISP modem and it's associated router/gear, a 55" Smart TV, a couple of LED lamps and, most importantly, an oxygen concentrator, Though this may seem like a long list for a relatively small generator, I had calculated all of the power requirements and they fit within the 3650 watt run duty specs for this unit. Fortunately, the rewiring issue for my install was relatively simple as virtually all the wiring was in same, close area. A 50', 30 amp generator cord, two heavy duty plug-in strips and some wiring changes were all that were needed to get hooked up. During the text run of 4 hours, the little generator ran perfectly, powering all that was needed. Though everything was not on all the time, the generator didn't struggle when everything was on. I had originally intended this unit to be only a stopgap measure and had planned to replace it with a 9KW open frame generator that were not available at this time of purchase. This did so well, I have, at least for now, canceled plans to upsize and will stay with this as my go-to emergency generator. It is surprisingly quiet for an open frame unit and started immediately with the elec start feature. During the 4 hour test, I used slightly less than 2 gal of gas so it should manage 9 to 10 hours cycles under my approx. ¾ load average. Very pleased with the purchase. ... show more

  • Solid equipment, good price
I've not yet used it for a power outage (fortunately!) but, after a month, am happy with it. It arrived damaged. The breaker switch was sheared off in shipping. I called Great Lakes Tool and they immediately sent a new one out which was pretty easy to install. On arrival, the battery did not have enough charge to start it but it fired up on the first pull with the rope. I've also marked on my calendar to start it up once a month and let it run. Also, a good practice is, after 3 months or so, to empty that gas out. With an earlier generator and chainsaws, the additives to unleaded gas will dissolve any plastic parts in the gas line. It would also be nice if the battery had an easier disconnect so I could put it on the workbench for constant trickle charge -- it's too far away from any power source to do so. Overall, though, a seemingly solid piece of equipment but, like any gas engine, you have to take care of it -- don't just leave it gassed in shed for a year and expect it to work at need. Update 9/19: Upping it from 4 to 5 stars. Three years and maybe 10 power failures and it's doing great. Has always started easily though rarely from the included battery start -- over time, that just loses its charge so either have to charge it separately or run for maybe 2 hours to charge. Pull rope, though, has worked on at least 2nd pull every time (hint: as with all 2 cycle engines, do 4 slow pulls before attempting start.) Also, as above, I'm pretty good and starting it up at least once a month and running for 20 minutes or so. ... show more

  • So far so good
Fairly easy to assemble, fairly heavy unit. Some of the maintenance directions didn’t really match up with the unit. For example to drain the carburetor it says to use a screwdriver but that’s not what you need with this unit. You need a 10 mm socket. Connecting the battery for the first time, didn’t quite match up what it said in the directions, it comes with plastic insulator clips over the terminals and there’s no mention of that in the directions doesn’t really give clear directions on how to connect the battery but other than that things went pretty well I used to pull start for the first time and it started up with one pull I found better set up and maintenance directions watching YouTube videos but other than that it seems to be a very nice powerful unit and a good price will see how it holds up the first time I actually need it for an emergency. ... show more

  • Well made and good design
I spent about a year looking for the perfect price/quality ratio, and I think this fits the bill perfectly. This was purchased as an emergency backup, so I have not had cause to put it through the paces yet, but I did go through the full process of prepping it properly. So, for those who have never had one before, it's pretty simple. 1. Assemble the unit 2. Make sure you add the oil to the unit. 3. Add about 1/3 tank of gas 4. Run the unit for 4 hours. 5. Drain the oil and add fresh oil 6. Run the unit for about 2 hours each month to keep it ready. Make sure you clear the carb before storing. ... show more

  • Seems well built
First one received was junk...not because the product was bad but because along the way there was a small fist sized hole in the box...the box otherwise looked fine...on opening it was apparent a fork lift tine had speared the box...bent frame, destroyed carburetor, air cleaner, igniter and plug and took a chunk out of the engine block...wow. UPS said they dont use forklifts. Amazon replaced it...the replacement is perfect...easy to assemble...easy start...low noise compared to the one I had from 2011. Ready for Winter and Spring. ... show more

  • Saved the Day
Finally got to use it due to severe weather and not the ice storm I expected. Too easy to operate and started right up. Came with a tool kit, oil, funnel and large clear instructions that did not need a magnifying glass to read. Exploited views on just about every part. Only had to get a grounding rod/wire. Nice wheel kit and tow handle with all the screws. Could only handle three things or four small things at A time. Super bargain for the price. I liked it so much I got another WEN so I can run my Dryer next time with a 240V. This model is ONLY 120v so it can supplement a larger generator. Confident my generators will get it done WEN the next storm hits. ... show more
