  • A great mattress for the money
I've only had this mattress for a little over a week, but so far it's been extremely comfortable. It's described as medium-firm, and I think that's pretty accurate ( I am using the queen size, solo sleeper). I sleep almost exclusively on my side; there is just enough squishiness on top to feel some decadent softness, but it is fairly firm underneath. One thing that is a bit lacking is edge support, especially at the foot of the bed. I sat at the foot of the bed to pull on socks, and I felt like I might slide off. The sides are a little better, but overall the edge support isn't great. Not really an issue for me as I am have the whole bed to myself, but I suppose it might be different with 2 in the bed. As far as unpacking goes, it was folded in half and rolled upside-down, so that it unfurls with the bottom facing up. It was a bit tricky to flip an 80lb. mattress by myself as it's rapidly inflating, but I think if you are prepared for it, or have another person, it's manageable. Definitely hoist/push it up onto your boxspring/bedframe before undoing the packaging, because it does inflate quickly. I basically unwrapped mine 90% to avoid cutting the bed by accident, and then ripped the plastic at the end. I left it to inflate 24 hours, and to air out, though I didn't notice any strong smells. Overall this bed seems very well-made for what it costs; it has already started to improve the back pain caused by my old mattress, which was long overdue for replacement. I think there is an adjustment time for any new mattress, but my body it adapting to this one very quickly and I'm sleeping much better than before. I will update later down the road when I've had it longer. So far, I'm very happy with this purchase! ... show more

  • Brooklyn Bedding Hybrid Mattress
For context I am a 6'4", 210lb side sleeper. My previous mattress was an older Lucid Brand Memory Foam Mattress I got about 8 years ago and it was great. I tend to sleep okay on most mattresses with a pillow between my legs and proper head/neck support, but I usually have some lower back pain when I wake up. As a side sleeper, I enjoy a medium to medium firm (~7/10) support base and a medium-medium plush (~5/10) topper. This means a thicker mattress without too much give that will support my side/legs without putting too much pressure on my shoulders and hips. I also enjoy the feeling of being cradled by my mattress and dont sleep hot at all. I stretch in the morning and that usually helps a lot, but recently that's been helping less. I noticed the foam was worn out on my 14" Lucid in the middle by pressing my hand there versus places on the mattress that I hardly touch. There was a noticeable difference in speed of return and overall feel of support. So its time for a new mattress. I searched and looked into the Purple mattress as the gel flex grid seemed amazing. I went into a mattress store to try it out and while it felt cool and like it was a pretty good option for comfortable sleep, the price wasn't any better than the mattress that has given me the best sleep of my life - the over engineered hybrid Marriott hotel mattress. Secondly, a significant portion of the support is foam which is the same supportive foam that is no different than any other mattress foam and will wear out in about 5 years. The only foam that will last longer than that is the tempurpedic, which is great, but it's pretty expensive and takes time + warmth to really do its thing. This is why i opted to go for the springs/hybrid mattress instead. Unpacking was easy. There was no 'smell' when i opened it. I placed a mattress cover on it immediately out of the package. My first night on it was definitely better than my last night on my Lucid. I feel like it will last a few years, which is about how long I'll need it. For the price, I am very happy. ... show more

  • Comfy cozy!
This mattress is on the softer side, which is perfect for two side sleepers- us! :) We love it. It’s super comfy and not too hot. We’ve had to move the mattress a couple of times, which was easier to do than we thought. It doesn’t have handles on the side, so be aware of this, but we fared without them. For the money, this is an excellent mattress. I’ve had far more expensive ones that were not nearly as quality of comfortable. We do have ours on thin boxed springs, but you probably don’t need them. We are very tall and wanted our bed to be a bit on the high side. This mattress is plenty tall for most. Just be sure to bout the deep pocket sheets and you are good to go. Enjoy! ... show more

  • Very soft, bouncy and sinks in the middle
UPDATE: I tried sleeping on this bed for two weeks. I'm convinced now that there must be some manufacturing defect on this one. It sinks SO much in the middle. The best thing I can compare this to would be 19th century rope beds that were loose and not tightened and maybe covered in hay. This bed just feels so flimsy and squishy. It sinks SO much in the middle it has ruined by back for the past couple of weeks. Dropping review from two on star. Still waiting weeks later on details on my return. I had higher hopes for this bed, having read about the quality of Brooklyn Bedding beds and knowing that the Signature version of this mattress has some solid reviews. I am a side sleeper with some back issues so I had hoped this hybrid bed would provide some level of support while also not pressing on my painpoints. Unfortunately I found this bed WAY to squishy and it sinks toward the center. There seemed to be some decent side-support and I ended up sleeping on the edges rather than the middle which hurt my back. I have requested a return and Brooklyn Bedding has approved it but they are now asking me to ship them this entire mattress back. I am currently working through issue resolution with Amazon. Needless to say I do not recommend this mattress nor would I recommend purchasing a Brooklyn Bedding bed through Amazon. It's probably best to buy direclty from them. ... show more
