I chose to use this setup for my baby chicks this year, for the last 6/7 weeks and it held up great! Here are my pros and cons with it! Pros: -Airflow on the sides and top helped cut out the smell tremendously -Heat plate worked as intended, and loved being able to raise and lower it based on chicks -The price of this setup really can't be beat -Fairly spacious until chicks reach that 5-6 week mark -Love that it packs away easily for next year! -Easy to clean, just use a small trash bag and scoop out all the bedding you can, then just use the mat when most of it is out and dump it in the bag. (Some bedding will go under the mat too) Cons: - After the first week or two, you will definitely need to buy a bigger feeder and waterer -When you use the side zipper for running the cord of the heat plate through, somehow every day there would be a small opening in the zipper. So you'd need to rezip it fully so bedding won't go out. -I had 8 chicks in here until fully grown and it started to get really tight at the end. I wouldn't put more then 10 in there. -The mat for the inside is definitely not the best as lots of bedding will find ways under it, but it's not too hard to clean Overall I would recommend this product to anyone whose planning on 10 or less chicks, especially for the price and functionality of it. ... show more

It's great, but be careful taking it out of the little storage case. It about took out half the family members. It was spring loaded and 3 other family members as it shot out. Lol But it's perfect for starting chicks. They should be very comfortable in it.

The media could not be loaded. This is a great sized brooder. Light weight, going to be easy to store, very big. I have six chicks right now and they have ample space to grow before going out to the coop. The heating plate seems to be working well, it’s definitely warm and the chicks are hanging out under it often. My only complaint is the size of the feeder and waterer. They look like something from an American Girl Doll set. They’re like toys. But other than that I’m pleased. ... show more

Caution, it’s cheap!! The zipper isn’t even attached leaving a hole, making it useless for containing chickens. Also, the “removable pad for easy cleaning” is small and doesn’t cover most of the floor. Just spend the money to get something more solid.

I was skeptical, but my husband wanted to try this. Well, I am pleasantly surprised! We have successfully raised 12 Rhode Island Red’s to 4 weeks. I have yet to ‘refold’ it, so I can’t comment there. I placed it on an old bedspread but there were zero leaks. The circular padding piece in the bottom made a perfect ways to gather up (burrito style)wood chips and waste. Word of advise: zip up the lid early as the little buggers jump/fly up onto the waterer and then it’s a mere hop to freedom! Our set up for the heat lamp is primitive, but effective. I’m going to try and get a picture, but I’ve never done it before. Have fun! ... show more
