This ventilation fan fit nicely where the old one had been. My whole ceiling needed replaced so wet tore out the housing and replaced the whole fan. The old one didn’t have a light in it, so it was an upgrade. It works great pulling all the moisture out and is pretty quiet and looks nice. Very reasonable price and the customer service was excellent. I wasn’t sure what to get to replace the old one, but they got me set up with the right one and talked me through how to pull out the replaceable part from the housing successfully. It turned out that the tabs were jammed and I never would have been able to get it out without knowing how it was designed. I am very pleased with the whole experience. ... show more

This was just what we needed, it works as expected, totally vents all of the humidity out of our bathroom during a hot shower (no more foggy mirror!), and the noise level is as expected (not whisper quiet, but not overbearing). So it does everything we wanted. However, even though the metal housing looks like it may be prepped for use with an installation kit, there is no installation kit included. THE DESCRIPTION REALLY SHOULD SAY THIS! This fan seems to be intended for new construction, where it's nailed/screwed to a rafter before the ceiling sheetrock is installed. In our case, we replaced a simple light fixture with this lighted vent fan. It was very simple, very straightforward, and came out perfectly, BUT it required crawling around in the attic to mark and cut a square hole in the ceiling sheetrock and to attach the unit to a rafter (and to install a roof vent, since we didn't previously have one). NOTE: This unit assumes your ceiling rafters are 2x6 or larger. THE DESCRIPTION SHOULD SAY THIS! Our rafters are 2x4, so I added a hard yellow pine 2x2 to the top of the rafter to accommodate this unit. Our bathroom is approximately 86 square feet and this fan vents ALL of the humidity out. Even after a very long, very hot shower, we step out to a completely fog-free mirror. I like the fact that this unit uses a common household light bulb that can be easily replaced, and not some funky non-replaceable built-in LED light. I would have given a 5-star rating except the description was lacking the important details that I noted in CAPS. ... show more

Good for what it promises to be. Sound level - very good for the sones written on the box. Ease of installation - as it should be reasonably expected - you have to connect something, after all. The bulb is easy to change and you are not trapped by a sealed LED of not your choice of brightness and color. And reasonably priced. So, if the specifications are what you need - power etc. you get what is promised and it looks as on the picture - this is a good value. ... show more

We installed this unit in a small bathroom to replace a smaller unit that wasn't doing any good. This unit is quieter and works much better. The walls are no longer wet after long, hot showers. In fact, the mirrors don't usually fog up either. This was definitely a great purchase. It wasn't easy to install because of the low slope in the attic above where it sits. ... show more

Old fan motor froze up so replaced with this. Easy enough to install with no problems, not whisper quiet but I prefer than when I'm using the bathroom. Been 6 months and no problems.

    • Good budget exhaust fan - No easy install though

I am not sure why Broan advertises this as an easy install. If you have an attic above the exhaust fan, you will certainly need to get up there to install this. The fan doesn't really have an option to mount between ceiling joists, as it was intended to nail / screw directly to a joist. My existing fan was mounted directly between two joists, so I needed to frame in a box in order to get a stud next to the unit. This required many trips to the attic, which is a little challenging in my house. Also, where the fan was located, it was a very light space. I knew this buying the unit what was required. Broan should just strike the "easy install" advertisement they have all over the page. Unless you are installing this in new construction, it will probably take 2-4 hours for someone with a decent level of experience. It took me 3.5 hours which an hour or so of that was framing in a new box. The fan itself works great though. Moves a ton of air and is relatively quiet. Great value! ... show more
