Easy to use, doesn't take up too much space in the fridge, good value for money.

  • Perfect for the refrigerator
Color: Black Size: 18 Cup Style: Standard Filter Pattern Name: Water Dispenser + 1 Filter
I bought this about 3 years ago and I just love it. All I do is change the filter when recommended and keep filling it up. I just love the clean water and the way it fits perfectly in the refrigerator.

  • Love the capacity...
Color: Gray Size: 27 Cup Style: Standard Filter Pattern Name: Water Dispenser + 4 Filters
Love the capacity and ease of use. No more waiting for unfiltered water to filter before dispensing. Huge boon. I keep this near my cooking area and dog feeding area as I filter his drinking water too. I also put filtered water into a five gallon jug to use with my hot and cold water dispenser. This makes the job far less tedious than using the pitcher. ... show more

  • Review for Dispenser Only
Color: Black Size: 18 Cup Style: Standard Filter Pattern Name: Water Dispenser + 1 Filter
I purchased this after an older one fell while I was refilling it. The plastic around the dispenser cracked and was completely ruined. This happened strictly due to carelessness on my part and not because of shoddy manufacturing. Anyway, I will review only the actual container and not the filtering capabilities, as the latter is not why I purchased it. I have a Big Berkey water filter system, which is kept on a stand in the corner of my kitchen. I like to have cold water, so that is where this Brita dispenser comes in. Since the Big Berkey filters out all contaminants (including fluoride / excluding salt) it would be silly to use the Brita filter in the dispenser, so I use the dispenser without the Brita filter - I simply refill the Brita with the filtered Berkey water. Therefore, I can not attest to the quality of Brita's filters, although if you do not want to spend the money on a Berkey system, I can assure you that ANY filter is better than the water that is coming straight from your tap. As for the actual container, I will say that I am vey pleased with the quality and durability Brita offers. It IS quite large, but if you have the room, and go through as much filtered water as we do (we use it for EVERYTHING - even the dogs get a 50/50 mix of filtered room temperature/chilled water) you might just find yourself needing to refill it before the end of the day. I especially like this black one, as my other one was white. The black matches the exterior of my refrigerator - not a huge deal, but a nice change. Also, the handle for the dispenser is much larger than the previous one I had, which I also like. The unit itself is easy to clean, although the lid is a bit tricky to put back on - you just have to make sure it snaps on all the way around or you'll have a bit of spillage. The final and most important selling point for me, is that the container is BPA-free, which is an absolute must as my Berkey removes BPA's. It would be counterproductive to remove them with the Berkey, only to pour the Berkey water into a container where BPA's would leech back into it. I did try to find a glass dispenser in a shape similar to this (so it would fit until my fridge) but had no luck. I needed something quickly, so I purchased this as I knew it to be a reliable product. I will continue looking for one in glass for home use, and then this unit will be used in our 5th wheel. ... show more

  • A skeptic of everything.
Color: Black Size: 18 Cup Style: Standard Filter Pattern Name: Water Dispenser + 1 Filter
I drink water like a thirsty fish. The tapwater where I live smells like chlorine and tastes like some chemical byproduct - fluoride perhaps as my brain always seemed smaller and permanently damaged after consumption. That needed to change, and fast! I wanted to give this Brita filter a test run and bought 3 extra filters so I had a total of 4 filters at the onset. I was done lugging up gallons of that precious, liquid of life Deer Park water. At $1.39 a gallon, the Brita just made more sense. I followed all instructions, there weren't many and it was simple/straightforward to prep the filter for use. Didn't have any issue with carbon specks like the manual states. What I did personally to get this continual system ready: take 2 empty water gallon jugs and cut the top 2" off. The plastic handle should still be intact and when full the cut top will bow while pouring but no mess if you're careful. Let that stank, chlorine tap water just sit for 24 hours. Small, teensy weensy bubbles form on the inner walls of the jugs - that's your lovely chlorine. When you tap the sides and make the bubbles rise you get a good clear whiff of it. Ultimately you can ignore the bubbles, the main thing is letting the water sit still for 12-24 hours. Pour the gallon into the top of the Brita and watch it go. The water I have now tastes good, maybe not good because water has no taste of its own but it doesn't taste like chemicals nor smell of them and that's a major improvement. With the rotation of two empty gallon jugs, one for pouring/refilling while the other on a 24 hour, anti-chlorine time-out I always have the right water to put into the Brita. At the rate I've been drinking water and using it for cooking or the dog's water dish, the filter which came with the Brita tank around a month ago is still going strong. Sometimes wonder if it would burn out sooner if I skip the 24hr chlorine time-out but I find that to be a crucial step to my methods. ... show more
