  • Replaceable Filter Without More Plastic, Great Filtration
These use biodegradable charcoal filters that don't use any more plastic. I love that! The top also has a tester that lets you know when you need to replace that filter making it super simple to ensure you're getting the best quality water. And I did a double blind test on that. I had my girlfriend fill up three identical cups with: tap water, my sink filter water, and the Brita water. I could instantly tell which was the tap water but it was hard to tell the difference between my expensive under sink triple stage filter and the Brita. My under sink filter did win out but it was close. The taste, or more accurately the lack of taste, from the Brita is very impressive for a simple pour water in and wait filter and the sensor in the top is a great extra. ... show more

  • WATER IS ESSENTIAL TO HEALTH - TASTES GREAT...CONSUME MORE.
There is really not a lot I can say in this review other than this. The Brita Refillable Water Filtration System with Large 10 Cup Pitcher has become an essential part of my life. Water tastes good again, and I find myself drinking more than the daily recommended amount. I now find myself taking this water pitcher to the dining table where refillls are very desirable. Water I have discovered once again, is a very proper beverage for meal consumption. I have noted a great improvement in my entire digestive system. I have also put this great ten cup water pitcher to use for coffee and tea making. They are better for you when prepared with good water. There roll as a coverup of bad tasting water is not the same as having a system that removes that which makes them bad tasting. Now even the tea, and coffee taste better when made with water from the Brita.. You will in my opinion be calling on this Brita pitcher as your main and only source of consumable water. The water where I live is some of the worst in the nation. It looks bad at times, even bluish in color and smells like dish detergent. Tests indicate a greater amount of all of the bad chemicals that the human body should avoid. The Brita, by test, reduces these substantially. The pitcher comes with decent instructions, but actually you can look at the pictures provided and you can be off to more pure, good tasting water in just a few minutes. This will happen after the proprietary cleaning or rinsing out, and the three fill and water the plants procedure. You don't have to water the plants but the Brita folks don't want you to waste any precious water. After that, WOW what a remarkable difference this filtration system makes. The Brita comes with one extra filter and you can go online to receive advisories on reordering. I fully recommend this pitcher to anyone that is not drinking enough water do to the obnoxious taste and odor. It will make a difference in the way you feel in so many ways because of your tendency to really want to quench your thirst with refreshing water. The pitcher is large and ten cups makes it a bit heavy. If you don't wish to lift that much weight when putting pitcher in the fridge, you can add less on refill. I keep my pitcher in the refrigerator. Actually, the water tastes great at room temperature. There is a chemically activated green light clearly visible at the pouring spout. It is there to tell you that the filtration is still working. A red light indicates that a filter change is needed. This light process is part of the proprietary setup. Simply follow the instructions and you will open a small control panel complete with reset. I used the reset to activate the monitoring system. Very simple to do, and works like a charm when you begin to pour that first glass of refreshing water. Don't fail to change the filter cartridge promptly in order to continue with the consumption of more healthful water. You might gather that I am a very satisfied user of this water pitcher and that my review sounds more like a promotion. Well, that is probably true.I really want you all to share my experience and benefits of more healthful filtered water. I am giving this wonderful pitcher a GIANT FULL FIVE STAR RATING. For yourself, your family....children...the value of more pure water is in my opinion inestimable. I cannot imagine that anyone would be displeased with this great filtration system and nearly unbreakable water pitcher. To get a pitcher of water going all you have to do is press down of the top of the handle at the proper point and the reservoir opens. Fill quickly from the tap to the tab, then close the port and you are good to go with another ten cups of tasty water in just a minute or so. The action through the filter begins immediately as you fill. ... show more

  • Decent Brita pitcher. replacement filter are more expensive
I loved my old Brita pitcher, but a plastic pitcher can only last for so many years before time catches up and things start to break. Now I see this and the replacement filters are just pouches with the filter media inside - almost no plastic. I thought maybe the replacement filters would be cheaper, but they are actually more expensive at about $7 per filter.. The pitcher itself has nice features. The filling lid flips open easily with just my thumb. The filter tracker is cool; it shows green as I pour water, and I imagine the light will be red when it's time to replace the (expensive) filter. The container is nice and big. I drink 3-4 32ox cups of water every day and a full pitcher will give me a couple refills. Here's what else I don't like: The filter cannister is somehow supposed to fit flush in the upper compartment but I cannot get it to sit that way. I don't want to press too hard for fear of cracking the plastic. I did crack the plastic while trying to completely remove the lid, just a little, but be careful because apparently this pitcher is not as sturdy as the older models. New water runs through the filter at the slowest pace imaginable. If you want a quick drink of water & your pitcher is empty, look elsewhere because it's going to take about 5-10 minutes for the water to be ready to drink. Overall this is a good pitcher. I liked the older models better, but that's probably because now I am old and cranky. ... show more

  • Good
Pretty much what you would expect from Brita, just make sure you replace the filters when they need to be replaced and you're good to go. No real complaints.

  • Just Like Standard Brita
I've had this for a couple months now, giving it a workout alongside our other standard Brita pitcher, and nobody in the family can tell any difference at all. Aside from not quite as easy a filter swap (it's just impossible to beat the plug-and-play of the standard pitcher) it's every bit as good - at least in ways you can test without a lab. If you are concerned about throwing away the plastic contained in a filter shell every couple months, this is definitely a good option for you! Aside from being slightly less easy to swap filters, it still makes great tasting water! ... show more

  • Great for you and for the environment!
I got this because we recently learned that the tap water in our area has quite a bit of impurities that are probably not good for us in the long term, so we wanted something that would let us easily filter the water and store it in our fridge. The water tastes great, there’s no weird tastes or textures. Every part of pitcher is plastic of course but it is incredibly durable, and the filter changes are very easy to do. The replacements are easy to install and it’s great for us that there’s no plastic used in the filters because we try to be as environmentally conscious as we can. Overall we love our Brita and we prefer the taste to our normal tap water, especially with the added bonus of it being safer for us. ... show more
