Run filter under cold water for 15 seconds 2. Insert filter into pitcher 3. Add cold water to fill pitcher. Pour out the first 3 pitchers full of water. 4. Replace filter every 40 gallons...approximately 2 months. Also consider the Elite Replacement Filter. The Elite claims to remove even more contaminants and should last approximately 6 months before replacement instead of 2 months for the Standard filter. I use these filters in my Brita water pitcher. They do a good job filtering my well water which has a little iron in it. A bit pricey but they do the job. Wished they lasted a little longer than they do before I have to change them.

Okay, I admit I bought a brand other than Brita because they were cheaper. There is a reason they were cheaper - I could see tiny, tiny, black particles in my water container. No Beuno. So, spend a little extra and get what you pay for!

Most of the time these filters are great and do the job they’re meant to do but I’ve had a repetitive issue that’s quite irritating. I just changed this current filter 3 weeks ago and it stopped allowing water to go through, like completely. I have to take the filter out, shake it, bang it against the sink to clear whatever’s going on inside. It works but it is beyond annoying to have to do this multiple times so I just end up switching out the filter well before its time. It doesn’t happen with every filter but again, very annoying to deal with. ... show more
