I am enjoying my backyard again! I bought two sets of these and realized I should have gotten three. I bought two sets because I thought I needed two for my patio overhang, but I only needed one and put the second one on one of my two palm trees and they lit up the backyard so nicely that I ordered a third set for the other palm tree. Instead of a dark backyard that my porch ceiling fan lights don't light up very well, I have a lovely backyard that is enjoyable. I played fetch with the dog in the dark and I was able to see everything in the yard from the light from these bulbs strung on my palm trees. Best solar lights I have ever bought. 7 weeks later and one strand has completely gone haywire. Turns on them turns off again. Either won’t charge or there’s a short. Can’t get a blue light on the panel so they are going back. Will wait for a sale to buy replacement because the yard isnt balanced now with one palm tree not lit up. ... show more

Ordered many sets of these lights and they work great to light up dark areas! They are solor powered but can also be plugged in to charge. Most of them have lasted 3 years. We do take them down in the winter as this is our summer place and it gets cold in the winter with lots of snow.

Set length is ideal to go around an 8’ x 12’ shade sail. The previous homeowner left globe lights around the perimeter and this style matches them. I love that they don’t require a plug, remote works great and easy to program- 2 AAA batteries not included. Ample wire slack before the first bulb. Solar panel is larger than most, came charged, they lit up the first day I hung them. Installation- cumbersome only because of where the panel needed to be which caused the clip openings to face away from the sail edge. Ornament hooks worked and I used a jewelry tool to curve the hook into the underside of the sail to take the tension off the pierced point. I’m hopeful this will help stabilize them during our Florida storms too. Recommend! ... show more

    • Pretty/easy to hang, but don't turn on until SUPER dark out

These lights are so easy to hang - everything comes with it and I love that they have clips so they can clip onto the siding under my porch. They're bright if you want them to be, super cozy, stay on long. The only thing I don't like is that you don't really know if they're on or off. I guess the blue light tells you when you hold the power button in, but if the panel is somewhere high, like clamped on a gutter or fence, you can't tell if its on. I think if you leave it on the lights will come on automatically, but there's no clear visual for an on/off button, so sometimes if I click the on/off on the remote, it will turn everything off and the lights won't come up automatically when it gets dark. The other thing I don't like is that it has to be really dark for the lights to come on themselves. It was 8:50 here in PA April 30th and they finally came on. They won't be able to go on until 10pm come summer. I wish they would turn on a little earlier or I wish you could turn them on yourself before it gets super dark. ... show more

We bought these lights three months ago and are very happy with them. We wrapped the lights around a canopy shade on our back deck and clipped the solar panel to the deck railing. We had a freak wind storm and didn’t have time to get the canopy taken down or secured safely. The wind picked up the canopy and threw it across the yard. It would have gone further if not for the wiring and clamp on the solar panel keeping it tethered to our deck. Despite the wind destroying the canopy, the wiring, solar panel, and lightbulbs weren’t damaged at all. Still work as well as the day we got the order. Would not recommend using these to tether patio furniture down, but if you’re looking for inexpensive solar patio lights this is the set to buy. ... show more

We've been wanting lights for our patio for the past few years, but I was hesitant about getting electric-powered lights and having to run ugly cords from our outlets to the lights, and then having to plug/unplug them every night (yes- I could get a timer, but still...ugly cords...). I started exploring solar options because our backyard gets a LOT of afternoon sun in the summer. I looked at several and chose these because of the number of lights on the string versus others of the same length (more lights = more brightness overall). Each light is 1 watt, so you'll get about 25 watts from the entire string; the more strings you hang, the more light you'll have. One string is bright enough for what we wanted; we like to burn candles outside as well, so the lights are more for ambience. When the lights arrived, I cleaned each bulb with rubbing alcohol to make sure there was no dust on them and then made sure they were screwed in tightly as other reviews recommended. I also charged the panel with a USB for the first use. As far as installing them, I did not want to staple or nail holes in our trim since our house is only a few years old, so I decided to try the outdoor Command Strips first. I clipped a strip next to each bulb for extra stability (so every 1 ft instead of the suggested 2 ft on the Command Strip instructions) and then tucked the tab behind the wire. It's been two weeks and they haven't budged despite lots of rain and Oklahoma winds! As far as the solar panel, I set it on our gutter (it nestles perfectly on top without falling in) so you can hardly see it, but it gets tons of sun. Even with the rain we've had lately, we've still had plenty of afternoon sun where they have come on bright as can be every night. It's hard to say how long they stay on since the sun is setting around 9pm right now, but I know they last well past midnight, which should be sufficient for most people. I'll be curious to see if these last through next year, but the price point is good enough in my opinion that I don't mind buying a replacement set next year if I have to. I will say there was one review I read where the person complained that the lights were great in the summer, but did not stay lit as long in the winter. Let's be logical, people- winter days don't get as much sun AND the earth is at a different angle, so don't be surprised if they don't charge as well in the winter. 😉 Seriously- if you're on the fence, just give these a try. I went in with low expectations since they're solar, but have been quite pleased so far. We've definitely been spending more time on the patio since installing them! ... show more
