The most difficult by far was the installation to the vehicle. I found that it was easier if you start threading the bolts by four or five full turns and then moving on to the others on the same side, then finish threading and torquing them. This way you can maneuver the side rails into the perfect spots. Take your time and with a little patience it fits really snug. I would definitely buy this again!!

I installed these on my 2006 Honda Odyssey, and let me tell you they look great! The install process was very straightforward. All the hardware is there and all you need for install is a Phillips head screwdriver. they are made at a very high quality material, and are low profile. They also fit nice and snug. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to add crossbars to their roof.

I went into this install thinking that the biggest problem would be getting the end caps off. That was actually the easiest part of the whole install. I just think people are doing it wrong! I took a small phillips head screwdriver, and inserted it into the hole. As I was pushing it in (which releases the locking tab), I took a chisel (but a FIRM putty knife would work as well), and inserted it into the space between the plastic cap, and the rail itself, and gave it a little twist (on the chisel), and it immediately popped out, and was able to be removed...EASY! Trying to slide it out by hand will drive you crazy as many reviewers have stated. For me the biggest challenge was the instructions. There really weren't any. There was a parts list with a nondescript graphic of where things go, and that was about it. I watched the Youtube video for a competing product, and that was little help as well - but better than the directions (Youtube search: "Odyssey Crossbar install"). There were zero tips on where the "holders" were to be positioned on the rail. There are apparently dimples in the rail to indicate where this is - but I was only able to find 1 such dimple out of the 4 anchor points. So, I found a site that said 2.75" from the front (that gap where the plastic cap ends, and the rail begins) and 3.5" from the rear (same gap). The cross threading issue I can see being a valid point. I'll ding the manufacturer for a lack of seamless threads on the bars/holders...you start the bolts in, and after a couple of turns, you can tell they perfectly aren't aligning (but good enough). I ultimately took my driver, and they bolted down into place, and are very solid. Overall, this is a great product with crappy directions and a couple of minor gripes. Don't hesitate though - much less expensive than buying Honda crossbars. I'll let you know if my Yakima Skybox falls off on this upcoming road trip :) Can't imagine it will. This thing is rock solid!

These seem pretty good, I havent examined a OEM pair in person, but they look nearly the same as the OEM crossbars. The hardest part of the installation is getting those plastic endcaps off. I managed to do it but using one hand to press the clip in through the hole and the other hand to wiggle down into the top of the clip where it meets the rail. Once I got it to pop out, I was able to work it out with my hand. It took a few minutes to figure out the first one, but less than a minute to do the other side once I figured it out. On the crossbars themselves, there are 4 screws that go into the bottom, two are designed to be down tight and if you look at the opposite side, they are supposed to slide.These shouldnt be so tight that you cant slide the bar longer/shorter, because you will need to do this to thread the screw in from the top properly. Each of the 4 screws took a little bit of wiggling and adjustment to get lined up, which was tricky because I couldnt see from above. The bars had labels showing which was front and back and what the orientation was, which was helpful. All in all, it took me about an hour to install on my 2007 Odyssey and I had never done anything like this before, so its doable - there are a few good youtube videos out there. It seems sturdy and should hold my Yakima Skybox well.

This was a great value for the money. We've had these cross-bars for a number of years now with no issue and no re-tightening required. This has saved us a ton of space and we can load up the top of the car on our many long trips. The install was easy and instructions were good. You really have to push on the clips on the existing side rails to get them to pop out. That was more of an issue with the car than this product. After the slide rails were available to be used these went on super easy. Years and years of family trips with this product!

The instructions were spot-on and easy to follow. The process went smoothly and before I knew it I was done.
