Engine came in new condition and was delivered very quickly. I put this engine on a walk behind mower that was not setup for electric start. I got everything wired and hit the start button and it started right up. It has plenty of power for my 4 ft walk behind mower. The engine that was replaced was a Kawasaki FB460V which was 12.5 horsepower. Besides the wiring it was a direct replacement. Bolt holes line up and the throttle cable is almost in the exact spot.     • the need to tap for bolts. or shopping for some .
item was delivered 2 days early so was nice. All 4 mounting holes are not threaded so you will need to tap them or buy bolts and nuts to install. I used old bolts after tapping at 3/8 .Engine install was very straight forward making it a simple swap, engine has a preinstalled muffler which i left but i can still decide at some time to use factory one still in good shape. once all connections were done oiled it gassed it she started right up . bad engine was 21hp, but this one has plenty of power to run and get the job done. P.S no manual or instructions ... show more

Good deal for the money. Easy to install. Direct replacment for Kohler Courage. I've got about 10 hours on it, starts every time, runs good. Will it last? Ask me in 2 years.

    • Straight Forward Swap even for a 73 year old
I have been using this motor for several months with no issues. The swap was straight forward but, since I used all hand tools it took a little muscle power. Everything hooked up easily to my Craftman YTS3000 mower. I did need to modify the hood to accommodate the side muffler. Sine I am 73 years old and was successful in swapping engines out, I feel this can be performed by anyone with a little mechanical knowledge. Purchased this to replace a blown motor in a 2006 JD 115. Fit perfectly in place of the blown motor. It did take awhile to get the mounting bolts to bite into the aluminum and tighten up. The rest was very fast. Its not cheap, but way cheaper than buying a brand new low end JD mower that are going for around $2.5K. ... show more
