The only problem initially was the hose left a black residue on your hands. The residue from the hose wears off after repeated use. Because of the residue it gets 4 stars. The hose is well made. It kinks when inappropriately laid out, like any hose. I was a firefighter and our hose would kink when not laid out properly. It is worth the price. I use it a lot. At the end of the day nothing beats an all NATURAL rubber hose for durability. Not synthetic rubber, not PVC, not even Polyurethane will provide the wear resistance and durability of natural rubber. Why do you think they can offer a lifetime warranty?? Two issues with any rubber hose is that IT WILL KINK and they are heavier than cheaper plastic versions. The kinking can be greatly reduced by the use of a swivel joint at the male hose end. I recommend the EDEN 92285 aluminum swivels found here at Amazon. Be sure to use either plumbers teflon tape (1st choice), anti-seize compound or at minimal petroleum jelly between dissimilar metals to avoid corrosion. As for the hose, as best I can tell, the Briggs hose is the same one that Sears marketed and sold for many years under the CRAFTSMAN brand. Even the packaging looks similar! Both are black hexagonal-shaped 5/8 ID hose rubber, terminated with high-quality nickel-plated fittings. (NOTE: I've NEVER had a failure between the hose and the fitting) Unfortunately, Sears decided to stop selling this hose and opt for a cheaper overseas? version a few years back. I had one of those original green rubber Craftsman hoses for 25+ years before one of my kids somehow managed to puncture it. I currently have six of these hoses in various lengths and for the money, I consider them to be the best overall value in the market. Take my advice and pay-up a few dollars and get a USA-made all rubber hose. If not this one, then you might consider the Continental rubber hose at a similar price. You can thank me later!! I have several of these in varying lengths. Durable. I leave them laying out in the Texas sun with 60 psi connected to my water well. Just don't run over it with your mower and I do drain and put them up in the winter.

These rubber hoses with the real fittings are all I use anymore. I was glad to lose the last of the non-rubber hoses on the property and replace it with this one. This is exactly like a Craftsman hose.

Bought one of these two years ago, and it sits on the west side of the house. It is still flexible, ends don't leak, and has taken the beating of the western sun well. I expect this one to be the same.

I like that it's heavy-duty but it does kink. I'm a senior lady and have a problem keeping it from curling. I bought it because of the Briggs and Stratton name but I should have ordered a lighter weight hose. I'm exchanging hoses with my neighbor.

Who would have thought there could be so much difference between hoses? I have many hoses on this little farm, and eventually they break or wear out and need replacing. From now on, this is the only hose I'll buy. Not kinkless, but close to it. Doesn't get hard in cold weather. Crack fee. Feels good in the hand. Rolls up easily. Just all together an excellent quality hose. I think it will save me money in the long run, and has already removed stress and irritation over lesser hoses. ... show more
