Cast steel is stronger and harder, and it's far less susceptible to rust compared to cast iron. This design provides a safe and easy way to create kindling without any moving blades or sharpened objects passing near your hands.
  • 9" Inside DiaEasily split seasoned wood to ignite your fires! Featuring a 9-inch inside diameter top ring, this kindling splitter can handle larger pieces of wood than other small log splitters. Note: 1. Please avoid splitting wood indoors to prevent damage to the floor surface. 2. We recommend splitting dry wood rather than wet wood.
  • Fast & SmoothSimply place wood in our kindling splitter. The cylinder-shaped wood splitter securely holds the wood in place, allowing you to cut the firewood with an axe or strike it with a hammer. Sharpen the polishing blade before use to enhance firewood cutting efficiency.

  • Perfect for kindling splitting
I bought this to help split the hickory logs down for my smoker and I don’t think I could have found a more perfectly sized setup. I’ve included a few shots a 5 gallon bucket and a gallon jug of windshield washer fluid. It is welded decently well and the spot that was touched up on the paint shows they actually do quality control. That is becoming rare thing. I’m sure this will make the coming smoking season even more enjoyable as the right tools often do. ... show more

  • GREAT FOR KINDLING….
This is a GREAT little invention most well suited for breaking down logs and splits into kindling wood to get a rip roaring fire started. Firstly, the idea is great, it gives even a novice a chance to enjoy splitting up wood without including the inherent dangers in a blade or maul. The rim contains almost all kindling from flying out, with is always a plus when you don’t have to bend down again and again and keep particular concerns for debris hitting your eyes. It is relatively stable, but I would suggest bolting it into a good splitting log for additional stability if you’re going to park it there for a season or two. Construction is high quality, it’s heavy and durable. Takes a little practice getting used to, but by the end of my first session I was splitting wood I didn’t even need for the night because it’s just fun. Again, great little invention based on a simple idea that, when considered, seems obvious. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. ... show more

  • I love this It is easy to move and to use.
This is very nice. It is easy to use and easy to carry around. Much better than using wedges. Honestly, I never cut wood that would not fit in this. I also used a couple of ground pegs firm it into the ground, but not really needed. I will never go back to splitting wedges again. I only had one log stick but It was a piece of elm. If you split wood, you'll know what I mean. It is very sharp and has built in wedges to facilitate an easy split. ... show more

  • Good for light duty wood splitting
This wood splitter is pretty solid. It works for light duty log splitting. However, it would be better if there was something to stabilize it. It tipped over a few times while I was using it. The main problem I have is that it's not nearly big enough to split most of what I have that needs splitting. You have to have much smaller logs than what I have to use this effectively. ... show more

  • Makes making kindling a breeze.
This is nice to have to make kindling. Blade is sharp out of the box and effective, but I always take a stone and make it sharper. The weld on this appear strong and correct, I don’t see them breaking apart at all. It comes with rubber feet but they come off pretty easily. I suppose you could glue them on, but it prevents damage to the surface you have this splitter on. Speaking of, this is much easier to use on concrete, and a heavy mallet, depending how dry your wood is. Overall I like it, the teeth on the sides of the blade prevent wet wood from sticking to it. It’s pretty stable, I have not had it tip over on me, but I also have experience using these mini splitters. I like the powder coating on it, gives it a nice look and will prevent it from rusting. ... show more

  • Splitting is efficient...when it doesn't topple over.
When I found this I was stoked I wouldn't have to swing a sledge hammer into a wood splitting cone over and over again until a few pieces separated and 4 hours later I might have some useable firewood. SPLITTING: Solid. This works well both for kindling and larger logs. I took a straight slat of wood from a pallet and literally split it with my hand by thrusting it down onto this splitter. No hammer/sledge needed (though you'd likely need it when you get to smaller and smaller pieces, for accuracy). That alone is worth a star. I also attempted to split a pre-split log into smaller pieces. Everything else held constant, this worked well. See pictures - within two sledge hits I had split a larger piece of wood into moderate sizes that are a step up from kindling and will help build the fire. STABILITY: Terrible. As you can see from the photos, it took two sledge hits before the thing toppled over. I tried a couple of times after this photo and the same thing happened. If you don't hit it perfectly at a 90* angle you risk the entire contraption toppling over. That gets annoying VERY fast. Adding to the frustration, there are no pre-drilled holes for you to anchor the feet to anything - wider pieces of wood, a workbench, a flat stump, nothing possible. Huge oversight. Makes me wonder if this was even tested outside of a lab. OVERALL: 6/10 would recommend. So much potential, just couldn't reach it. I can only give this 3 stars, as the toppling and lack of stability is a huge issue. If you have the tools to drill through the metal feet in order to create a more stable foundation, this may be of worth the purchase. However, if that's not the case, I would keep looking to find a product that has a stronger foundation or pre-drilled holes for you to stabilize the item before use. ... show more

  • Wood Splitter
This is great for making kindling to get a fore going in your fire pit. Splits wood pretty well, using a small sledge hammer, definitely a good idea to secure the splitter to a table or log to keep it stable. Great gift for your campaign buddy.

  • GREAT tool for making kindling...
The BRIAN & DANY Heavy Duty Wood Splitter has been an absolute game-changer for me processing firewood. This 9" cast iron manual log splitter weighs 8lbs, and is a perfect size to have indoors, by the fireplace. It is a safe and efficient way to split wood into kindling without the dangers associated with swinging an axe. The quality construction ensures longevity, and its size is perfect for creating kindling inside, by the fireplace. It's simple to use: just place a piece of wood on the top and give it a firm hit with a sledge hammer- the wood splits cleanly, saving time and effort! This tool has made the task of splitting firewood into kindling much safer AND quicker! I highly recommended tool for anyone who regularly uses a wood burning stove or fireplace and needs to create kindling. ... show more
