  • Good, with limitations.
Size: 12"- 25 Watts
The pad works OK. Warms nicely but if you're using it for brewing, fermenting or carbonating in the bottle, it really needs a thermostat. My thermostat is made to go in a refrigerator. I used it beneath a cardboard box for fermenting and carbonating but I didn't think it really worked well that way. Still, it heats nicely I think they mention in the descripton that it needs a thermostat. ... show more

  • EZ set-up
Size: 10" Heat Mat + Heating Thermostat
Great product, does what it is supposed to. It keeps our Ginger bug at just the right temp for fermentation to occur. Easy to set up and set the temp. I bought a second one for another project.

  • It's 25 watts !!!!
Size: 12" Heat Mat + Heating Thermostat
This is a nice unit. I've read other reviews where people complain that it does not control their application. The temperature of this unit is 100°F (roughly). If you're trying to keep the temperature of your 6 gallon plastic wine bucket while stored in a garage at 35°F on a cement floor, it will never work. You're losing more heat than this can generate. But if you insulate your container and insulate under the heating pad, it will control very nicely in a room that is cooler than your desired temperature. My house is 72°F, I have my 6 gallon bucket of wine on a piece of plywood on top of a piece of Styrofoam sitting on a cold tile floor. The bucket is wrapped in a towel. This device works great at keeping the wine at 80°F !!!!! ... show more

  • Recommend for sourdough starter and bread proofing.
Size: 10" - 12 Watts (Black)
It’s taken some time to figure out how to keep this from being too hot for my sourdough starter. This is what I do (see picture) and it works very well. Since I wasn’t sure how the pad would work I didn’t get the adjustable thermostat. I think if I were to order again I would do that since this pad gets to its max temp and stays there. I may decide to get it as an add on if the price is right. If you are struggling to get your sourdough starter or bread dough to rise in a cold kitchen this works great. ... show more

  • Great for bread
Size: 12"- 25 Watts
I bought this since I was very uncomfortable when I found out my wife was leaving the oven on for hours so she could make dough rise faster on top of the oven. I find it unsafe, and very energy inefficient. Thankfully she loves this heat pad and says it works better than the top of the oven so she’s not tempted to do that anymore. It’s a much safer and energy efficient alternative for helping dough rise. She now uses it for anything that requires dough to rise. It’s also made everything taste better as a result. This is a great purchase for the kitchen. Some people said it might be too hot for this, but we’ve used it for months now many times and never had issues with it being too hot for our dough. You could always insulate it more by putting a pad or towel between the bowl and the heating pad. We haven’t had to do that though. We just stick our mixing bowl with dough straight onto the pad and it’s been perfect. ... show more

  • Great for sourdough
Size: 10" - 12 Watts (Black)
Purchased this fermentation pad because I was having some difficulties getting my sourdough to rise properly in the colder months but didn’t want to buy a $100 proofing box, and this does exactly what I need it to do. The first time I put my starter on it I think it might have been too much for it though it does stay between 72-78 degrees, it didn’t kill my starter but it might have been a little too warm for it. So I now put a towel below the mat and on top of the mat then put some sort of a bowl (I use a pie plate) and put about an inch of water in the bowl and place the bowl on top of the towel on the mat and put my starter or dough in whatever bowl I’m letting it rise in in the water. I periodically will check the water temp and it’s normally always at 75 degrees. Since I have done this, every starter feed and every bulk rise is textbook perfect. Bubbly starter, airy bread. The other great thing about it is it doesn’t take up a lot of room so if you don’t bake all the time, you can easily store it in a cabinet or drawer. This fermentation pad receives a sourdough stamp of approval from me. ... show more

  • Gets warm but no idea of temp
Size: 10" - 12 Watts (Black)
The only i don't like about this pad is there is no way of knowing how arm it gets. It's either on or off, no controls. Also, the temp strips must be on a completely flat surface and only tell you the temp of the vessel attached to and NOT its contents.
