    • It's a nice toaster oven
This Breville toaster oven is okay. Nothing exceptional about it. For making toast it does a decent job on the top of the bread. The underside always comes out much lighter than the top side. But I don't do regular toast very often. I bought a loaf of bread to test out this toaster oven. I usually use English muffins and it does a good job of heating up the English muffin until it's slightly crispy and the muffin is nice and hot. It doesn't really brown much at all. The main thing for me is to get the muffin hot. It bakes biscuits a couple of minutes faster than my regular oven and it does a good job. I most likely won't use it for broiling meat. I will use this toaster oven mainly for English muffins, biscuits, brownies and hashbrown patties. The crumb tray is very easy to take out and clean. I just spray it with water for cleaning and that's it. If Breville doesn't want to build an automatic sliding grate mechanism when opening the door. They should at least make a silicone attachment that will allow pulling of the grate out to help prevent burning of the fingers when pulling the grate out to pick up food products. The grate gets hot enough to burn your fingers if you don't react quick enough to the heat. ... show more

I did not end up using this, because I have several pans that I like to cook on in my toaster oven and neither of them fit in this oven. Although I do think you can get a 12-in pizza in it, I use a special pan and it did not fit. There is a bump out at the back so I think if you're just putting the pizza on the rack it would work. Overall I think this is a beautiful machine made very well and is good quality. It's also one of the models that's rated very high by consumer reports. In the end I decided to send this one back because I did not feel it was big enough. For most people it will probably be fine and I think it will do a great job based on the brand and the quality of the build.     • As Toaster Ovens Go, Pretty Darn Good.
I needed a toaster oven for important yet small things, like reheating a slice of pizza and cooking a small baked potato. For that it shines. I still think that my old, top slot, push down toaster does a better job on bread and bagels, but this is still new to me, so I am learning. Other than that, we have tried the more expensive, big name brands, and this little unit has surpassed all of them. I would recommend it, and I will post further once I have a better grasp on the whole toasted bread/bagel thing. ... show more

    • Nice looking, but ...
This is our 3rd Breville Smart oven. The first one was BOV800XL which stopped working a few years ago and the only way to repair it, we were told, was to send it to their California location for over $100. We put that one in the trash. Then we bought a BOV650XL (a smaller unit) which still works. The only negative has been the lack of integrated tray pull feature once you open the oven door. We then decided to buy this unit, the BOV670BSS, because it has the convection feature which the BOV650XL did not. This unit has no tray pull feature either. Also, the online manual of BOV670BSS states “Your Breville appliance comes with a unique Assist Plug™, conveniently designed with a finger hole in the power plug for easy and safe removal from the wall outlet". Well, it doesn’t (both BOV800XL and BOV650XL came with Assist Plugs). The installed plug on BOV670BSS is not the "Assist Plug. The new plug also has the cord attached not aligned with the ground prong, where the cord hangs vertically from the plug, but at a bizarre 67.5 degrees angle from the top, making it impossible to plug in if the outlet is near the corner between two walls. And, this unit also has no tray pull mechanism built into it!!! Come on Breville, what’s the saving of not providing this simple but a safety mechanism to avoid burned hands. With the BOV800XL we had you open the door and the door pulls the tray with it. With these other two models you open the door and then you need to pull the hot tray out of the oven by hand. Lastly, their phone support is very poor in the knowledge of their own products. ... show more

After spending money on cheaper models l decided to upgrade. Very pleased that I did. Goods everything to perfection. I’ve made chicken, fish, baked potato and toast. Not a problem with any of them. Highly recommend

I am entirely satisfied with this little oven. You dial what you need. And then just push a button. The instructions are very clear. Everything is of strong and of good quality.
