The past few years I've been going thru 30-40$ toasters that felt and looked cheap, made poor uneven toast, and invariably failed even though they were only used twice a day at most. I really didn't want to spend 150 dollars on a toaster, but I had some reward points that brought it down to 100, and pulled the trigger. I gotta say i am extremely happy with it so far. Not only is the toast very even, but it also doesn't dry out as much as cheaper toasters, which is very important if you like darker toast. It's a little bit bigger than I thought, but looks very good on the counter. I love the dial, the features, being able to switch between what type of bread I'm toasting without tinkering with the dial or feeling I need to watch it. The top does get hot, but like it's a toaster, you need heat to toast. Just keep your grubby little fingers away from the hot metal and you'll be fine. The high lift has never made me feel like I needed to stick my fingers anywhere near where I would get burned. The only cons are for 150 dollars I would like a longer warranty, zwilling toasters for ~100 bucks have a 5 year warranty, this thing only has a 1 year warranty. I'm just suspect of the longevity of products made in china these days, but it's very hard to find a toaster from anywhere else. I'm honestly a bit disappointed that a "premium" appliance maker like Breville doesn't stand behind the quality of their products. The way I see it this 150$ toaster is a 1 star toaster if it only lasts 1 year, and a 5 star toaster if it lasts 5. Hell I just wish they made toasters like they used to that would last 25 years. But then I guess you run out of people to sell toasters to.

I've been looking for a toaster for a while now, tried a few and they just didn't measure up. I finally went to Good Housekeeping reviews and this one had a pretty good review. Besides loving the look of it, it functions very nicely. I picked a pretty champagne color, it matches my Keurig. It was expensive, in my book, but I guess you're going to pay if you want quality. Happy with my choice...finally!

This toaster is like other premium items where you cross your fingers and hope it's worth the extra money when you buy it. They way it's built, looks and functions is a cut above any other toaster I've owned, in ways that didn't matter until I had it on my counter. And every kind of toast that I've thrown at it comes out nicely, literally, with a gentle push up out of the slots. My only small complaint is that I'd like for the "up" position to be a little higher for bread slices that aren't so tall. I'll also suggest that with the multitude of colors that it is sold in, you may find yourself guessing which to buy (I got the Hickory, which is something close to brushed satin nickel in color).

This is a really fun and amazing toaster. I love the features it has and it is a really good looking toaster. And the Toast comes out perfect once you find the setting you like. And it toasts the whole bread - including the edges of the bread. So many toasters do not do that. And the toast tastes wonderful. I like the fact that you can lift the handle and check your toasting. I also like the Little Bit More button. If your toast or whatever you are toasting is not done enough you can hit that button for it to toast a bit more without starting all over. I also llike the various items that you can set your toaster for like Bagels, Waffles, Wheat Bread, White Bread, ect. That is a very interesting feature. While this toaster is expensive I luckily got a great deal from Amazon Warehouse and so I was able to buy the Breville and enjoy an amazing toaster.

UPDATE: Customer service did not communicate much, but they did send a new toaster. Beginning to end, it took about 2 weeks. I believe there is a 12 month warranty period that I was (barely) within. I am satisfied with the resolution, but had it been a few weeks later... _____ At 11.5 months it stopped toasting on the outer elements of both sides. I contacted Breville Customer Support immediately. I will update my review as it progresses. My immediate impression is they are very slow to respond and make it unnecessarily difficult for the customer. I have been asked to provide the same information 3 times. The last correspondence also asked for details on: - type of bread - bread size - bread freshness - images of the toaster elements on toast setting - images of the toaster on bagel setting - images of both sides of my bread after toasting While I appreciate the thorough troubleshooting, it feels a little patronizing. Up until now, I’ve been mostly happy with this expensive toaster. It feels sturdy and well made (not like a $10-20 toaster), so you at least feel you have spent money on something better quality. My main complaint was how long it took to toast, but I was ok with waiting for a good toast. The image shows the toast on a 4 setting (med-high), toasted on one side and only really at the top of the other. To be continued…

Had to replace an old tfal that shot toast across the counter and finally decided to try this brand. Very nice design and so far has toasted reliably. Would have been nice to have slightly longer slots to allow for irregular length fresh bread. Also, blue lovers beware - the finish in blue is not as blue irl - instead it follows this odd trend of adopting a blue that’s so dark that most of the time, it looks black or grey. I really wish designers would consider a blue that actually looks blue most of the time instead.
