Description

All accessories included with the Breville Sous Chef are housed in a convenient plastic container. It can be stored flat or on its side to take up less counter space. Why the Breville Sous Chef Food Processor?Every Breville product begins with a simple moment of brilliance. The Breville Sous Chef began with the observation that the food comes in many different shapes and sizes, making it difficult for one machine to consistently cut all ingredients into the optimal size pieces. So how do you make sure that you get the perfect size for what you’re cooking? The Breville Sous Chef solves this problem with its unique design. Its wide feed chute makes it possible to slice vegetables of all shapes and sizes, while numerous disc and blade options makes it easy to get perfect results, any way you slice it.Combining Convenience and Versatility: The greatest sliced thing since bread.Food processors are supposed to make food prep easier, not more frustrating. The Breville Sous Chef has a 5.5” Super Wide Feed Chute that reduces the need to pre-cut most fruits & veggies, saving you time. The Breville Sous Chef comes with a set of 8 discs and blades for numerous prep options, all housed in a convenient accessory storage. The discs include a variable slicing disc that can be set to 24 different slicing settings so you can customize the thickness of your slices from a paper thin 0.3mm all the way up to a thick 8.0mm. Other discs in the set include a julienne disc, a French fry cutting disc, a whisking disc, and a reversible shredding disc, while the blades include a micro-serrated universal S blade, a dough blade for kneading and combining ingredients, and a mini blade for use with mini-bowl. The Breville Sous Chef includes two bowls, a large 16 cup processing bowl and a 2.5 cup mini processing bowl, for convenient processing no matter what size portions you’re chopping. The 16-cup option allows you to blend up large servings of soup or dough, while the mini processing bowl is perfect for processing small amounts of sauces or nuts.Combining slicing options and two size choices with the convenience of the wide mouth chute, it is no wonder that the Breville Sous Chef was rated the best food processor in 2012 by a leading American reviewer of products.Product FeaturesSmall Food Pusher: for improved processing control of smaller ingredients. It also doubles as a measuring cup for adding/measuring ingredients. The food processor will run continually whether the small pusher is in or outLarge Food Pusher for pushing food down the feed chute. The food processor will not start unless the large pusher is in place correctly.Feed Chute Safety System: prevents the motor from operating unless the bowl, lid and large food pusher are correctly locked in position.Super Wide Feed Chute so large ingredients don’t have to be chopped before being fed into the food processorSilicone Seal: reduces the chance of leakage while processing large volumes of liquid ingredients.Processing Bowl: 16 cup bowl for dry ingredients and 12 cups for liquid (wet ingredients). The processing bowl locks onto the motor base.LCD Display with Count-Up & Count-Down Timer: used to set desired time required for processing. Can count up or down, stopping the processor once the time is reached in count down mode.Solid Die-Cast Metal BaseDirect Drive Motor: with safety braking system.Non-Skid Rubber Feet: for added safety and stability. All parts that come in contact with food are BPA free. • Outstanding performance, amazing customer service!!!
Color: Cranberry Red
I LOVE this food processor. I use it at least one to two times a day. It has tackled every task that I throw at it. Recently, I used the emulsifying disk to make both mayonnaise and whipped cream. The consistency of both was the best I've ever seen. Previously, I had made mayonnaise in my blender, but the Breville whipped the mayo to that light, airy consistency that we love to see, much better than my blender. I have used my KitchenAid mixer to make whipped cream in the past, but again, the Breville whipped it to a lighter, more fluffy and more stable consistency than my KitchenAid mixer did. The storage box is great. I like how they put the items that you use most often in the front of the box. I have my box stored in the cabinet below the food processor, so it is easy to reach in there and pull out just what I need without much hunting. But what I love the most about the storage box is that I don't have a bunch of attachments sitting out on the counter or piled into the food processor, as I have had previously with other processors. The only parts of the processor that sit out on the counter are the base, the small bowl stacked inside the big bowl, the lid and the pusher all attached together. It makes it so easy when I'm ready to use the processor to just pull out what I need without having to move aside a bunch of accessories I don't need at the time. It also keeps the counter more tidy, which is always a bonus. The large chute is another of my favorite features. When I process food, I am always processing a lot of food at once. So I like that I don't have to refill the chute as much with this food processor. This food processor also does a better job at grating cheese than any other I have used. I am used to my other processors having a piece of cheese stuck between the lid and the grating disk. But the Breville grates it all with very little left over. It also does a good job grating vegetables, although there my be a little more waste with them. I like the seal on the lid. I was making ketchup recently and overfilled the bowl. But the seal on the lid did not let one drop of ketchup spill out. I have had it leak a little bit when I have overfilled it with more runny liquids. So I do not recommend overfilling the bowl. But the seal certainly helps when overfilling does happen. I have an easier time cleaning this processor than any other I have had as well. The only area I would complain about is the handle, which seems to be a theme with food processors. The handle to the bowl allows moisture and small bits of food to get into it and there is no way to clean it out. But that is really the only area that I have a hard time cleaning and in comparison to the other processors I have owned, it does not let in as much food as the others. The blades and spindle also can get food under them, so you will need a narrow brush, like a toothbrush, to get up in there and clean it out. I appreciate that the parts are BPA free. I also appreciate the quality of the plastic they used to make the parts. It is durable enough to withstand being dropped on the floor on occasion without chipping off bits of plastic here and there, as has happened with several of my past food processors. I recently damaged my lid and the small S-blade. I'm pretty sure it was my fault, because I did not have the S-blade seated properly before I used it. So I melted part of the lid and have melted plastic on part of the S-blade. I called Breville this morning to get the new parts. My machine is still under warranty, but I was not sure if it would be covered because it was my fault. The person I spoke to was extremely helpful and is sending me new parts for no charge, knowing that I was the one who damaged it. Also, I've been having a little trouble with my S-blades sticking in the bowl. So if the new small S-blade works better and does not stick, they are going to send me a new large S-blade as well. However, even if I had needed to buy a new lid and small S-blade, the lid is less than $20 and the blade is $10. That is such a reasonable price for replacement parts! I have spent much more than that for lower quality parts, so I cannot complain. I considered this purchase a lot before I bought it. $400 is a lot of money to spend on one kitchen appliance. But I have probably spent that much in the last ten years to replace food processors at a rate of once a year, at least! So I knew that I needed a quality appliance in order to meet my needs. This appliance is everything I could have wanted and more. I am very happy that I made this purchase and would highly recommend the Breville Sous Chef Food Processor. Update 06/30/15: How many products get FIVE stars? I just had to come back and extol the virtues of this machine even more. Our Breville has been through two years of daily use and is nowhere near quitting. Two things have stood out to me recently. Breville doesn't cut corners on anything, including the accessories. I love the scrub brush that comes with it. The bristles keep their shape and it's small enough to get into tight places that my Pampered Chef scrub brush is too big for. The spatula that comes with it is also perfect for scraping the sides of the bowl. Breville thought of everything with this machine. A few months ago, my four year old daughter was being helpful and dropped the big bowl on the floor as she was drying dishes. My oldest called me with some trepidation because I had told my kids something to the effect that I love my Breville more than them and they had better be careful with it. Lol! The bowl got chipped and there is a crack up the side, so I thought I would need to replace it. That's not the end of the world, since the replacement parts are so reasonably priced. However, we have continued to use it with the crack in it and it is doing so well, I'm not in a hurry to replace it. Pure liquids run out of it, but I can make batters just fine. Last night, some batter ran out just a bit, but it's not that bad. I cannot imagine any food processor that I have owned in the past performing so very well. This food processor was worth every penny I paid for it. Good job, Breville! Keep it up. ... show more

  • This is my ultimate food processor!
Color: Stainless Steel
I bought the Sous Chef 16-cup, the dicing conversion kit, and the dicing extension kit. I love it all. It's so fast and easy to use. Fairly easy to clean, although you have to remember it's not dishwasher safe, so at least rinse it off good right after using so the food doesn't dry on it. The storage boxes that came with the Sous Chef and dicing extension kit are very nice and easy to get what you need out of them without having to dig down to what you need. The storage box that came with the conversion kit, not so much. The food processor is very quick and with a good-sized feeding tube, you have less prep to do before you can process the food. So far, I'm having a lot of fun using it. ... show more

  • Powerful high quality food processor
Color: Stainless Steel
This food processor is admittedly expensive. But in this case you really do get what you pay for. It is much quieter than the one it replaced. I made a large bowlfull of french fries in just minutes. It made really smooth pesto in seconds. Plus cleanup is relatively easy. No weird gaskets that you can't get past to clean above. (I'm lookin at you competing brand name food processor.) So if you want to invest in a quality food processor, this one may be for you ... show more

  • So versatile
Color: Stainless Steel
This product is amazing!! Love all the attachments. Grates cheese in second, 24 slicing thicknesses. Makes amazing humus and does a great job with whipping cream and dates. French fries are awesome. The only down side is that it is heavy. But that must be the powerful motor. Clean up is a breeze although not recommended for the dishwasher. ... show more

  • Beyond thrilled
Color: Stainless Steel
I have had this food processor for about a week now and I am over the moon with how amazing this thing is. I originally had a great food processor, a Kitchenaid that was about 8 years old. I gave it to a friend when I purchased a new Cuisinart food processor with a spiralizer...it turned out to be a piece of garbage that had really cheap parts so it was back to looking for another food processor. My research showed that a lot of the food processors today are made much lighter weight and are made out of less sturdy material. I was not happy with that as they break easily and can sometimes slide around if they're off balance. I was hesitant to spend this much money on a food processor, especially with the varied ratings on Amazon and a few other sites. The good: Right out of the package, you could tell the device was solid. It was heavy, sturdy, and even the plastic bowl was higher quality than the previous ones I had purchased. I am in love with the slicing disc - you can see the difference in thickness of slices. It's great! I can slice incredibly thin or really thick, which is amazing for various dishes and dehydrating! The slices are consistently the same size, no leftover piece thumping around in there after it has sliced the majority of the veggie or fruit. My previous food processors would leave a chunk of food that it would not slice or grate. The sound. This thing is insanely quiet. I did not think there was such a thing as a quiet food processor but this is it. I was not looking for this feature but it's nice. It DOES make noise, just much quieter than the others I've had. I can continue to listen to the audio book or carry a conversation without yelling while using the machine. It's fast. I mean, really fast. Not that all food processors are not efficient but this will slice through the food much quicker than the previous ones I've had. I like the timer. If I need to blend, whisk, or kneed something for a certain amount of time, I can set it. It also tells you how long you've been blending. I like having the option of a large or small bowl but this is not a unique feature to this machine. They do create a leak proof environment so if you want to make something liquid in the top and then move on to chopping something solid in the bottom, you can do that without any issues. The bowls are pretty sturdy. I have not seen gaps that trap food or water that lead to mold/mildew growing. Will update if I find any. The parts to the chute stay in place without any weird twisting to get parts to lock. I love this as my last one was hard to lock the parts together and the small chute would always fall out and thus broke. The small chute can serve as a small measuring cup as well! I really like the storage for the blades. My first one did not have this and it was always tricky to find a place to store them that would be safe and not result in finely sliced finger tips. The variety of discs is also quite nice. The fry blade does thin strips of fries. I have used both of the s blades and they work wonderfully. I have not used the other blades/discs as of yet. There is a brush included to make clean up easy as the device is not dishwasher friendly. The Cons: Size - this is a large device and would not have worked in past apartments where size is a constraint. Be sure to measure before buying! I'm glad I now have a place large enough to store the food processor and attachment box. I would say the price but I have a feeling long term, this device will pay for itself. I did worry about the price and justifying the cost. However, we use the food processor all the time, hoping this will hold up to years of use. Washing - not recommended to put in the dishwasher. This isn't a huge problem, I just hate washing dishes by hand when you have a dishwasher available. However, it's very easy to clean and there is a brush included. There are no other cons as of right now. Other thoughts: I might have to buy the dicing add on as this food processor is amazing to use and would love more control over diced veggies. ... show more
