I used this to change the brakes on my 2012 Odyssey last weekend and found that it worked well. I've got a more expensive spreader, but I like this one better because it is simpler, faster, and easier to use. I observed only a couple of potential issues: - If the plunger is too small for the caliper, you may need to use old brake pad to comfortably press against the piston evenly from all sides - I wish that it was a bit bigger. On my van's calipers, it took quite a bit of force to spread the piston. A modestly larger unit would have made the job easier i like this tool. Nothing fancy, but that's not what you're buying here. It gets the job done and that's good enough for me.

I've been changing my own brakes for years and dad taught me to just use a c-clamp to get the break caliper compressed again. This speeds up that job a bit as you don't have to spin and spin a big c-clamp. It worked fine with my car and should work fine with mose others I think. Easy to use, but took a moment to figure out how to align it. It is made of metal and it seems like it should be durable enough for the job.

This is a great update to the old screw-type brake cylinder press/caliper spreader. When doing a brake pad replacement job this device is an essential part of the work that makes installing new pads remarkably easy. After you’ve pressed the hydraulic cylinder in the caliper back as far as possible, the new pads slip right in around the rotor, and the caliper slips right into place. The device is sturdy and a big time saver that gets the job done!
