The locking mechanism and plug were not that accurate for the application so I used some gorilla glue to secure them.

It can be difficult to determine if a product ordered online will be as it is described but you take the chance anyway. I am glad I did with this roof rack. Each rail is heavy but not so heavy you can't lift it. You can tell it isn't flimsy. I reviewed the printed directions and went for it. I used a yoga mat for the roof of my car in case the rail slid off (it didn't). The lock was a little tricky to figure out at first but now I've got it. The lock has a protective piece that slides out of the way when the key gets inserted. The clamps are made of metal and have what looks and feels like durable rubber to protect the roof side rails. Installation wasn't bad. I did it by myself. I found it a bit challenging to tighten the screws that determine the length of each rail, as the screws are under the rail itself. Once I figured out which way to turn the Allen wrench, it was easy. I haven't used it yet and am actually using a different car for my long trip but am happy I have them installed. Now I can buy a kayak or use my new cargo bag in the future. ... show more

Had to use a stepladder to install. Directions could have been better because some steps in the process were missing. I think these look better and are stronger than the Toyota RAV4 OEM Cross Bars. There was no discernible noise from the bars at 65 mph until we opened the sun roof. We have since purchased a Thule Pulse M and it mounts perfectly to the bars. ... show more

Great set of crossbars for Toyota RAV4 XLE 2023 model. Made of durable materials. The best instructions included, PLUS.... each piece is clearly marked with stickers stating which end and which side with center stickers showing which direction the bars face forward. If you mess that up then it is the person installing who isn't bothering to read and look at the stickers. My husband also really liked the way these crossbars were made.
