I've had a 12VDC chest freezers before and it lasted about two weeks then quit working. It wasn't made by BougeRV. I was hesitant to buy this one but I needed something as my refrigerator in my RV wasn't large enough. I used it for a solid month while traveling from Washington State to the Arizona desert and back. It worked great. I only had one issue as I would get an error once in a while and I looked it up and it said the power wasn't enough. I was using the 12 volt receptacle that was installed in my trailer so I installed a new one directly connected to my battery with larger wires and I never got the error again. It was super quiet and used very little electric power. It kept everything frozen and would generally keep things within 3 to 5 degrees of the set point. I wish the refrigerator in my trailer worked this good. I would buy again if I needed one but I'm sure this one will last for years as it's made so good. ... show more

I've been using this cooler continuously since purchase in 2020. Never a glitch. While always a possibility, I use it more for freezer overflow and backup. Since losing all freezer contents several years ago, I wanted a backup in the event of a fail or power outage. It works great. I found it comes in handy for Costco runs when broccoli alone could fill the standard freezer. I use it for these types of items and it's very useful. Also comes in handy for defrosting storage. It doesn't keep items as cold as the normal freezer, although the temp stays between 0-3 degrees, but they are frozen. Never a problem and would purchase again in a heartbeat for my use. I have had this freezer/frig for almost 8 months now. Have used it on several week long camping trips and it has not failed me yet. I have had it run on my 12v 100 amp Li iron po4 battery for 4 days(at zero degrees F) and the battery was down to about 29 % charge left. When not using it for camping we use to as an extra freezer and it has been running almost everyday of the last 8 months with no problems. You can hear it running but it is not very loud at all, no problem with sleeping and it in your camper. It cools down pretty fast, but think it would be better to have most items frozen first if you are using it as a freezer. I seldom use it as a frig. but functions fine in that mode. It has a smaller compartment that is frig. only and it stays about 15 degrees or so above the freezer. Items will freeze in that compartment if you leave the item for several days and the freezer at 0 degrees. When I first received the freezer/frig. I had trouble turning it on and adjusting the temperature. I was just pushing down on the "button area" and nothing happened no matter how hard I pushed or where I pushed. I was very upset and sent the company a "heated" email. They answered in a few hours with questions and suggestions, even offering to swap out the control panel-(plug and play I guess) or having me send the unit back to amazon. To make a long story short, they continued to contact me and with ideas for me to try. Finally by accident I pushed my thumb flat on the button and held it there and what do you know it turned off and on and I was able to adjust the temperature. Problem solved-use your thumb, you don't have to push hard and just leave it there till the display starts blinking-read the small owners booklet. We bought the 53L car refrigerator to take it on a 2-week road trip. We left it in upright position for 12 hours before hooking it up at home to the AC power. It comes with 2 long (nice) power cords - AC and DC to connect to the car. When hooked at home it cooled very quickly and was impressed with the cooling and organization basket too. Our display had issues - the power button and the C to F buttons didn’t work. I realized it when we were in the trip and contacted customer service. They were very responsive and helpful. We were given the option of changing out the display board, getting a new refrigerator, getting a refund on the refrigerator from BougeRV while keeping the one we had, or return and refund from amazon. That was very impressive. We worked around the the display issues during the trip, waited till the trip was over and changed out the display panel BougeRV sent. Now the display works fine. Customer service was very prompt, understanding, and responsive. The refrigerator worked well when cooled at home and brought to the car. It would maintain the temperature. But it will not cool from room temperature down to refrigerator/freezer temperature in the car. We had to take it out into the hotel room in the night, hook up to power there and bring back to the car during the day. Make sure to attach the handles sent with the unit. They are helpful since you can’t wheel the unit. I would only get this if you have an AC (2 pin enough) power outlet in the car. Sometimes when hooked to the DC power in the car, it gives E1 error. But works well with the AC power. Overall, it did the job for me and would recommend this to other friends. ... show more

Seven months of use. Love it. Cools very fast. To freezing if you want. Runs great on Eco setting. The basket makes transfer of food and loading easy. The lid is not heavy duty so I’m being careful.
