It's a legitimate upgrade from my older dometic

I bought a dometic fridge for my camper van some 7 years ago, and it was an absolute work horse. It ran non stop for almost the entire time (almost) without a hitch. My only complaint was that as it got older, it started to glitch out under extremely warm conditions, but I still loved it. So when it finally bit the dust for real, I planned on getting another dometic. But as I looked at their newer offerings, and compared the prices, features, and reviews to these iceco fridges ... I decided to save myself several hundred dollars and take a chance. It's only been two months that I've had the iceco, but I really love this thing and it feels like an upgrade in the following ways: The build quality just feels more solid and better insulated (though it also weighs quite a bit more) This thing seems to use significantly less electricity under similar conditions (maybe because superior insulation?) It's quieter. And finally I feel like it's a lot more spacious inside (which only makes sense because the footprint is slightly larger). Overall I'm thrilled with the iceco so far after running it for a few months straight and expect to get many years of great usage out of it. Glad I took the chance and saved the ~$400 ... show more

I use this for bbqs at the park, long road trips, and get togethers. It’s been fantastic. I recommend getting it to temp of choice at home with the AC outlet before using your battery to power it. My 500wh power generator will keep it running for 15+ hour at the “eco” setting for 32-36 degrees F. Remember it can hold quite a bit of stuff without ice so you don’t necessarily need a bigger one. It’s heavy at 48-50 lbs. Take out the basket with food/drinks before moving the cooler out/into your vehicle; save your back!! I use a wagon cart to move it around when by myself. The thing is well made and solid! Fits just right in my SUV’s trunk, and I’m able to close the trunk cargo security cover. It’s pretty quiet too. Make sure to strap it down with bungee cords. Being able to open the lid several ways is pure genius! :) ... show more

Great cooler, worth the money if you plan to use it

Our go to travel cooler. Solid construction, well-thought-out design. The lid opening from both sides is clutch full removal of the lid is clutch the AC adapter on either side is clutch. Again very well thought out design in my usage opinion. I will plug mine in in the garage a few hours before our trip, and it will get down to refrigerator temperatures by the time we’re ready to leave. Then I plugged in the AC outlet in the back of our suburban and thing keeps cold our entire trip. Decent insulation once the cooler turns off. We haven’t used ours out of the car yet…primarily for car long car, travel, kids to camp, kids to college, Long Beach trips, etc.. ... show more

The VL35 Pro S is by far the best and the quietest portable 12 volt fridge I’ve used. The lid is versatile with its dual opening function. The fridge is built well and has a nice all black industrial look. It has very strong sturdy handles. The fridge also better with metal liner inside verses plastic. Seems to not retain any left over odors. It comes with a wire basket which makes loading the fridge incredibly easy. I mainly run the fridge on 12 volt on an EcoFlow solar generator. It only draws 30-38 watts while the compressor is running. Very low power usage. Overall no complaints about the VL35 Pro S and ICECO customer service is very helpful with their products. 10 out of 10 for customer service support. They go above and beyond to make sure customers are happy with their products. ... show more

If you want/need a mobile fridge or freezer this works very well

We got this for two scenarios, a fridge for road trips, and a freezer for visits to Asian grocery stores. It works well for both. We took a week long trip from up the coast of Maine and the Canadian Maritimes. We kept perishable food and drink with the temperature set to 38F. It allowed us to eat like we do at home, instead of having tot eat junk food sometimes. We like shopping at Asian stores because they have better fish and prepared frozen foods. The problem is that the Asian stores are between one and two hours away, so we couldn't get them home before they thawed. With this we set the temperature to 0F on the way to the store and everything arrives home frozen solid. Like any fridge or freezer, when not in use you need to leave it open. I take the lid off and turn it 90 degrees. If it does get musty you can wash it out and drain it then dry it. ... show more

I bought the VL35 Pro just over a year ago. It has worked great, I have taken it on many overlanding/offroading trips and it has worked great until the most recent trip. On this most recent trip, a bag of burgers leaked blood onto the floor of the fridge. I didn't realize this until the trip was over (3 days and the burgers weren't eaten on the trip). I discovered the leak while removing all the uneaten food. I tried wiping up the blood but this is when I discovered what I believe to be a design flaw: the panel edges aren't sealed and have a seam along the horizontal bottom edges, the vertical side edges and the circle around the drain. No amount of flushing this with soapy water has removed all the blood and now when closed, the fridge smells as one would expect. When I contacted support, they were generally unhelpful. They told me that I didn't need to worry about liquids seeping in the compressor compartment (that was never concern), and they also warned me that I should not let things leak (super unhelpful guidance that any reasonable person wouldn't need to be given, especially after the fact). They told me NOT to seal the edges and around the drain plug, and they provided me no other guidance to resolve my issue. Their attitude was more or less like, "huh, what are ya gonna do? (shrug)". I am extremely disappointed, I don't really know how to fix this. I've attached a photo of it before my dozens of attempts to flush the seams with soapy water, baking soda/water mixture, etc., and compressed air (which eventually stopped producing reddish discharge but hasn't resolved the odor issue). I was really hoping for a better solution by contacting support but it turns out they have no idea how to help. I cannot say I'd recommend this product. Which is a shame because besides this one issue, it's worked well. So while I think on the happy path it could be a 5-star product, the obvious design flaw is a 0-star rating for me. Better than ice.

It works as described, does wonderful, it loses about 2° in a 100° car. That's not bad. I set it thirty 35, and it comes up two degrees warmer in the car. In the house, with the average temperature being about seventy five, it stays right on the money 35
