  • Very Nice for the Price
I was pleasantly surprised upon opening the box with my new chair and assembling it. Very nice for the price. I noticed several people had trouble putting these chairs together so thought I would give some advice. I used the big box that it came in as a work bench to put it together. specifically putting the back and arms on. Just put the seat upside down on the end of the box, attaching the back is easy, because its resting at the right height when sitting on the floor and attaching it to the base plate. Look for crud in the holes before trying to finger thread the bolts into place. If there is crud in the hole, gently pry it out with a tooth pick. The bolts have blue lock tight on them so can be hard to thread in, so finger start them first. Don't tighten the base screws until you have added the arms. Gives you wiggle room when attaching the arms to the back. Now you have the back loosely on and the chair is still upside down on the box, allowing you to easily attach the arms, with the box holding the chair in perfect position. Again look for fabric or crud in the holes before starting the bolts. Attach both arms loosely, again starting each bolt with your fingers, and then tighten all arm bolts, and base plate bolts. Just flip it over and put it on the base jack and your done. Took me longer to unwrap all the parts than it took to assemble it...USING THE BOX TO REST THE CHAIR ON...about 20 minutes. Love the look and love the comfort for my particular needs. But your needs may differ so do the research before buying anything like this on line. I'm using it as a casual computer chair and am leaning forward all the time. The cushion is great and leaning back is also comfortable but it doesn't recline at all. But leans back enough to be comfortable. I almost bought a used office chair off of CC for $150 but decided to spend a little extra and take a chance on this one. Glad I did! ... show more

  • Great Office Chair
I was surprised when I saw the delivered box was made in China. I always prefer to buy US. But I have to say this chair was well packaged, easy to put together, and looks and fits great in my home office. It is well made, sturdy, rocks and swivels, and very happy with. Love the burgundy color. Hope this helps. PS - I will be sure to re-post in 12 months to report how it is holding up. I guess that will be the true test. So far, so good. 2/16/2024 Update: I use this chair everyday and it has held up well so far from when purchased 3+ months ago. You may need to tighten some of the screws underneath the chair. No cracks, tears in seating material. I like the rock and swivel action. 5-star rating, no change. Was a great price for my need. ... show more

  • Excellent (once you get the arms on)
I really like this chair. It's just what I wanted and just what I expected. Then again, I also price-shopped for this chair and in so doing found a ton of reviews for it at another store, where it was selling for a little more. Surprisingly, most of those reviews were glowing ones with a lot of detail on which to base my purchase. I'll now tell you about it in greater detail so you can also know what to expect if you're considering this chair. Some things you might want to know about: - Yes, when you open the box, there is an odor. It appears to have come from the packing materials. It has already dissipated less than an hour after assembly. - This is NOT a reclining chair. In fact, there are warnings about that right on it. Don't try to lean back too far, because it doesn't tilt. Not a deal breaker for me; I prefer to sit up straight and I think it's pretty comfy. - The chair states it is rated for persons weighing no more than 250lbs. - You will not sink into the cushion of this chair. It's sort of a limitation of the style. - This chair is not real leather and as such the materials aren't going to be as durable as real leather. The quality of the fabric is in keeping with other faux-leather furniture I've had. No better or worse. - One star taken off for the notable (though by no means insurmountable) difficulty getting the arms right. Notes on the assembly: I have a lot of experience with flat-pack and 'some assembly required' type furniture. This was far from being the worst assembly I've had (although the arms, as noted in the title, were tricky). I got worried when I opened the box and didn't find a baggie or something with hardware, but as it turns out the hardware is in the chair already. You must remove the screws before you begin. So here's what you're going to need to assemble this chair: a phillips screw driver and some elbow grease. If I had it to do over again, I'd put the arms on first because getting the pieces to align in the order on the instructions went pretty poorly. This is because the seat cushion pushes rather firmly on the wood of the arms. Once it's all put together it's no problem, but I had trouble man-handling this into position while simultaneously turning in the screws. Then again, I built this alone and I'm a person of small stature. If I had a friend, this would have been a breeze. But all said and done, including the time it took me to drag the box up three flights of stairs, it took me about 40 minutes. All in all, I feel I got my money's worth on this chair. You can't beat it for the style at this price point. The details are very nice and unless you're inspecting it up close, it looks like a much more expensive piece. It's very stately in my home office, it rolls smoothly and the arms are in the right place for typing. All in all, I'd buy it again and I'd recommend it, provided that you realize you're buying inexpensive furniture. At under $200 you're not going to get an heirloom piece, but if you know what you're buying and you treat it as such, you won't be disappointed. ... show more

  • Very UNcomfortable seat...but read to the end
Looks great, sits like &^%$@! Another worthless piece of furniture made in China! I'd send it back but I don't want to try taking it apart and getting the pieces back into the box. The very hard seat has what feels like an iron bar that presses up just behind your knees and the back sits straight up, there's not any way to lean back more than a few inches. Would I buy it again? Not on your life. I'll shop around for a comfortable chair made in the USA and chalk this up to experience. (adjustment to review) After trying to suck it up and sit on a pillow, I finally had to throw in the towel as my legs were going to sleep after 15 mins in this torture device. I bought another box and returned it to Amazon. By the way, Amazon, being the class act that they are, gave me a coupon for $5 more than I'd spent on the extra box. That's why I am still shopping for that new desk chair at Amazon, the greatest. ... show more
