I wanted a modern Android Auto radio with navigation in my truck. With the floating adjustable display, this radio is just right. My RAM had a weird non-rectangular shape. It was mostly rectangular, but had strange half-circle cutouts in the dash for the volume and channel selection knobs. This radio with, special for RAM and Dodge, a Scosche CR1286B installation kit really looks nice! I got a CRUX wiring harness specifically for my RAM to complete the installation. Add to that some Wago inline connectors, and the job was pretty easy. Dislikes: 1. The screen is a little too bright for night use, even at the lowest brightness adjustment. I might get some neutral color photographer's film to put over it, and hope that doesn't affect the touch screen. So far it isn't so bright that I want to return the radio. 2. The microphone so far is very quiet, and people I call can barely hear me. I'll call Boss support about this one. But then talking to other people is a little overrated. 3. Probably not a fault with the radio, but I can't find a wireless remote Steering Control System. With the volume adjustment knob on this radio so handy, I'm not sure I need to add a volume control to my steering wheel, but I'd like to try it. ... show more

I installed this setup myself in a 1990 Vw Vanagon . The install was fairly straightforward with good instructions provided . This was a huge upgrade from the old school CD player that it replace . Apple CarPlay works flawlessly, I haven’t been able to connect to the Android Auto on my wife’s phone but I haven’t given it much time as I primarily drive this vehicle. Navigate the interface is fairly straightforward even for a non tech person such as myself . For the price I paid ( I bought a certified refurbished unit ) I think it’s extremely good value . I especially like that it has a volume knob as most stereo’s of this style don’t . Some have complained about the brightness at night but I don’t think it’s that big of a deal since you can push on the time in the corner of the screen and it blacks out the screen. It is a well thought out design. One of the best elements is the adjustability of the screen. It allows for easy adjustment and stays in place after its adjusted. The ball and socket mount is a great idea and allows easy viewing angle no matter which way the sun is entering the car windows. The volume knob stops you from searching for it while driving, that is a nice feature as well. It doesn't have some of the features as other units which cost more but what it does have actually works. Android auto works like it should, back-up camera view is clear and makes it easy to see what's behind you. The only thing I wish is that you could dim the daytime screen more. The backup camera image is poor. It lacks detail, there is too much contrast which prevents anything in a shadow from being visible, the banner across the top blocks too much of the view, there is a constant wave-like distortion in the image, and the backup guidelines cannot be adjusted enough to be useful. Boss replaced the cable and the camera, but it did not solve the issues. The Blue tooth connection cuts in and out. The handsfree calling does not always work. When I call out, the person can hear me, but I can't hear them. The opposite happens if they call me. The radio works, but the sound quality is mediocre. The programmed station application is quirky. The Android Auto works but loses connection frequently. When my headlights are on, I have to turn the dash light intensity to max to prevent the monitor from flickering on and off. If you looking for a great single din but big screen, this will do the job, has lots of pros and not soo many cons. Only that you cant turn off the screen but it comes handy when apple play, also your phone doesn't turn on when notifications arrive while on apple play. Still great device over alll 💯

I bought it for my semi truck. It's a pretty good unit overall but it does have some drawbacks. Sometimes it disconnects from my Bluetooth while I'm listening to something. Other times it disconnects when I step out and when I come back in it won't connect. I have to shut the engine off and restart the truck. Also, when I go to my sleeper area, I here static at times like if the bluetooth won't reach. I really wish there was a way to play videos on it from my phone for when I'm parked. ... show more

I used this System to replace a single DIN Sony that came in my new Forest River Class C RV. The "stock" (installed in a Ford E450 Cutaway at the RV manufacturer) had no Navigation and tiny buttons that were confusing to operate while tooling down the road in a 32' vehicle. The Boss system has a beautiful large touch screen and very easy to switch between functions. The Apple CarPlay feature gives me Navigation, SiriusXM, Spotify, and multiple other capabilities. I purchased a double USB extender for the dash and now I have easy access to plug in my phone and music USB's at the same time. The sound is very good for a lower priced system.
