I wanted a modern Android Auto radio with navigation in my truck. With the floating adjustable display, this radio is just right. My RAM had a weird non-rectangular shape. It was mostly rectangular, but had strange half-circle cutouts in the dash for the volume and channel selection knobs. This radio with, special for RAM and Dodge, a Scosche CR1286B installation kit really looks nice! I got a CRUX wiring harness specifically for my RAM to complete the installation. Add to that some Wago inline connectors, and the job was pretty easy. Dislikes: 1. The screen is a little too bright for night use, even at the lowest brightness adjustment. I might get some neutral color photographer's film to put over it, and hope that doesn't affect the touch screen. So far it isn't so bright that I want to return the radio. 2. The microphone so far is very quiet, and people I call can barely hear me. I'll call Boss support about this one. But then talking to other people is a little overrated. 3. Probably not a fault with the radio, but I can't find a wireless remote Steering Control System. With the volume adjustment knob on this radio so handy, I'm not sure I need to add a volume control to my steering wheel, but I'd like to try it. ... show more

Good customer service for the most part, the man who answered the phone had no idea how to connect things. He kept saying “I’ll email you a picture of what the manual says” so that was kind of annoying. BACK UP CAMERA quality is horrible! Like 240p and is so pixelated. The backup camera image is poor. It lacks detail, there is too much contrast which prevents anything in a shadow from being visible, the banner across the top blocks too much of the view, there is a constant wave-like distortion in the image, and the backup guidelines cannot be adjusted enough to be useful. Boss replaced the cable and the camera, but it did not solve the issues. The Blue tooth connection cuts in and out. The handsfree calling does not always work. When I call out, the person can hear me, but I can't hear them. The opposite happens if they call me. The radio works, but the sound quality is mediocre. The programmed station application is quirky. The Android Auto works but loses connection frequently. When my headlights are on, I have to turn the dash light intensity to max to prevent the monitor from flickering on and off. Mounted this in my Crown Victoria, and I couldn't be happier. All of my newer Ford vehicles have car play built in and I was dying to have it in my daily. For a few hundred bucks and a busy night- we are in business. I still plan to reroute the CarPlay usb to an actual port and form it into the dash, but for now- this is a great unit. My ONLY complaint on initial use is the caution "OK" screen that pops up on every start up- drives me crazy. The GUI is to be expected basic at best- no frills in graphics, lower resolution text for menus ect. Value wise, it's a good media unit! ... show more

Bought to put in my teenage daughter’s car as it is older and didn’t have a nice system. The screen is large and the backup camera image is crisp. Great sound and lots of apps. The screen sets out far enough that you can still access anything that may be behind it but not so far as to be in the way.

Just a basic install but the sound quality is great. Smooth screen and menus. Great EQ for audio. Screen could stand to have darker settings but that's about all I can complain about. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good Android auto/applecar play radio.

This stereo was driving me nuts. We are using it with Samsung s21 phones and it was constantly disconnecting from Android Auto. Put the car in reverse with reverse cam on, disconnect and black screen, driving and listening to music- disconnects and black screen... I read all the comments here, changed a ton of settings on both phones and the head unit- no help at all. Finally read a forum piece on another stereo that said Android Auto needs a very high speed usb cable to work. If you don't have that, it will disconnect and act buggy. So, I bought a cable, it was 10 bucks and the stereo works so much better now. Why can't Boss include a 10 dollar USB cable with their 350 dollar stereo? Who knows, it is stupid and a huge waste of my time. So buy a cable when you buy this thing. Here's what we got: Amazon Basics USB Type-C to USB-A Male 3.1 Gen2 Adapter Charger Cable - 3 Feet. UPDATE- the cable helped, but still getting disconnects frequently. One user said the unit does not work with Samsung phones, so maybe that is the issue and is a major disappointment.
