This is a pretty nice unit and appears to be accurate, but I found it difficult to read. It is smaller than I expected, with postage stamp-sized screen to boot. There's enough room on the screen to make the numbers bigger; I wish they would have. I'm using it for trim carpentry, so I need it to read to 1/32 ". The fractions are particularly hard to read. I'd recommend finding a unit with a larger screen. One of the more expensive Bosch units might be a better choice. ... show more

I technically bought this at Lowes (for the same price as Amazon), but I only review on Amazon. It's great for my purposes. I'm not really a tool guy, and I don't need advanced features like a professional might need. I'm just an average consumer who needs to measure a few rooms without fighting with tape measures, and this does the trick. I find it to be quite accurate (confirmed a few measurements with a tape), and I love how it knows to add its own length to the measurement (also confirmed with a tape measure and/or floor plan specs), measuring from the back end, not the laser emitter. With my limited experience with such tools, but positive experience so far, I give it 5 stars. ... show more

    • Extremely bare bones -- not the same as the other GLM-30!
So there are (at least) two Bosch products called "GLM-30". This one has only one button. The other one has 5 buttons, and far more features. Strangely, the simpler one isn't any smaller, or even cheaper. It's just worse. Why does this exist? The only thing this one can do is add lengths. Why would you want that? I have no idea. It doesn't have a continuous measure mode. It doesn't display the last 3 measurements you made. It will take one measurement, when you click the button. That's all. You can toggle between feet and meters. That is its only feature, and despite what they say, how you do it is pretty unintuitive. The worst part is that in "feet" mode, it doesn't measure feet-inches-fraction, like the other "GLM-30" (or any normal human being). It measures in units of thousandths-of-a-foot. I've never seen anyone ever need or want that. You'll be pulling out your calculator a lot. What's 20.815 feet? Multiply by 12 ... OK, it's about 20' 9 3/4". It's not all bad. It's a great size, and the rubber bumper makes it easy to hold, and it's quick and accurate. The case is nice. I know they can make decent laser measures because I've used their other models, including the other "GLM-30". How could they screw this one up so bad? ... show more
