Think multi speed high performance industrial grinder by a reputable manufacturer but with a random orbital head ... and a random orbital head that will in turbo mode also spin around at grinder speeds ... Like I say in the title, a beast. Nicely balanced, solid dust collection provided you use quality discs, good trigger action (not always the case with Bosch, see my variable speed grinder review), and cool to the touch even when running for extended periods of time. I have all the sanders and all the polishers (except Festool) and this thing is awesome on both wood and metal. Four notes 1. This is not a finish sander... It is a removal sander...think grinder with an orbital head 2. Turbo mode requires two hands and good footing 3. 6" discs can be a little expensive and a little harder to find and this thing will shred the cheap paper backed variety 4. Between this and your shop vac you will need hearing protection And yes, before you ask, you can sand a floor with this monster just take care to keep it moving and level as you go

I can't compare this to a Festool (haven't used one enough, but they are certainly comparable), but coming from other RO sanders, this one is amazing. It lessens the time I spend sanding by at least half. The suction makes sanding nearly dust free. My only complaint is that it is a bit big to fit into smaller areas. I still have my other sanders when I need something smaller and lighter, but I always get frustrated since the other ones don't work nearly as well as this one does. If you are looking for a good sander to keep down dust and speed up sanding, I'd recommend this one unless you want to spend twice as much for a Festool.

I will say it again you need this tool. What a difference in time saving from a 5 inch to a 6inch sander. Like a lot of other folks have said this sander is a beast. My first run for this was sanding a 7ftx4ft ash dining table. Turbo mode with 40 grit sand paper is better than my bosch belt sander with a 36 grit belt. This machine is also a beast to hold for long periods, especially on turbo, but material removal is great. You will be very tired from holding this if used 1/2 a day. I bought the sander and hard pad combo (light blue). The sanding pad that comes with the sander is a medium pad and it is red. Both pads have the same hole pattern, which is a ton of holes, see attached pictures. I did not use a vacuum with this because I was able to sand outside so I can't comment on dust collection. The vacuum port arm is nice and is easily detachable and my hose will connect to it no problem. I did have a lot of vibration in turbo mode (excess vibration like the pad was off balance) when the sander was turned up to 6 which made sanding at that speed difficult, when turned down the excess vibration was minimal. No excess vibration on normal sanding mode. I want to put the original pad back on and try that to see if it goes away. If that doesn't do it I will reach out to customer service and see what can be done. I would highly recommend this. It has replaced 3 sanders for me when doing large project.

This sander hooked to the vacuum hardly threw any dust. Took off hours of sanding on a couple table projects I was doing. Also much easier to keep a flat surface on the project compared to my 5” palm sander
