Height from ground to top of uncompressed seat cushion, exactly 30". I built this leisurely in under 30 minutes with just the little allen wrench which was provided, but a drill driver/bit could be used for most of it. My wife commented how good it looked. It has only a very slightly distressed black appearance, distressed with just a very, very subtle reddish color. I've already ordered another as this was just a test purchase. We have had these for about 2 years now. We bought 3 to go by the kitchen counter. They weren’t too difficult to put together but weren’t super easy either, but it’s still doable by one person. My husband just got a little frustrated having to do 3 in a row :) They clean easily when wiping them down and surprisingly have no scratches after all this time even with my wild 7 year old constantly in and out of them. Comfort is good to my liking. Decent back support. They are very nice bar stools and look great in our kitchen. Very happy with these. Thanks! ... show more

I bought 2 of the 24" distressed black to match my new dining table and I got them Like New from the Amazon Warehouse. One came in Like New condition but the other one was beat up with the hardware flopping around inside and not all padded so i sent it back. I put the one in good shape together by watching a you tube video (the return didn't have the instructions inside). It went together easily and looks real good once it is all put together. The Barstool is made from real wood and the padding is a little hard but i am sure over time it will wear down. The distressed parts are the edges of the chair. It is a red color and actually looks real nice if you are into the style. The chairs are real heavy and sturdy once put together. Overall I am happy with it and would buy it again in the future ... show more

These bar stools are terrific. Very easy to assemble, with just a short learning curve when putting together the first. The quality of the materials and the construction is top notch. I expect to get years of use. And, best of all, they are really comfortable. Update: We've had the stools for over a month now and they are still terrific. The construction is super and the seat is made of excellent materials. I love these stools. We've watched many football games and movies with no backaches!! ... show more

These counter stools look so nice! But I do have to say that the reviewers that are saying it took only 20 min. to assemble 2 of them must have had their teenage son do it... and I bet the screws are not tightened enough lol. It takes about 20 mins. or more for each stool if you are gonna do it right. And they have shorted me some washers & springs, but no big deal, I figure it should hold together good. Anyway, fast shipping, & they look great & sat on them for a short while (am waiting to move) and they seem good & sturdy and swivel good. ... show more

    • Beautiful stools but buyer beware of origin - chair fell apart

These barstools are beautiful and look more expensive then they were. Word of caution however - I ordered 2 of these and they were slightly different as I noticed the hardware and finish (one was much more distressed) was completely different. Turns out that one was made in China and one was manufactured in Vietnam. They had different instructions and hardware/parts. The China manufactured stool had some flaws (poor workmanship). Boram is sending me replacement parts for that one. Shame on you Boram for not shipping 2 of the same stools when they were ordered together. I could have returned one but by that time I had already unpacked them both. They were easy to assemble even though the language was awkward. Follow up @ 11/12/15: The screws kept on coming loose on one of the stools. I purchased locking washers at Home Depot to fit the screws and now the legs have pulled clear out of the sockets rendering the chair useless unless I come up with a fix (Wood glue likely). I have had these for 17 months now. The chair that was made in Vietnam has held together nicely. Follow up 11/14/16: I was able to glue the chair together and put in L brackets to hold it. This chair has now completely fallen apart. I've had it about 2.5 years. Won;t buy it again and don;t recommend it. ... show more

I purchased 8 of these last year for my lakeside bar and grill. Through two summers of commercial use in an actual bar, they have held up beautifully. They are sturdy, comfortable and attractive. I spent a long time looking for bar stools, knowing I needed something that could bear people of different sizes while they were partying. These had the look I wanted, but because of the reasonable price, I was initially unsure of the quality. I can now say they were a great investment, and I will be buying several more. The most we've had to do is tighten the screws on one or two every couple of months. They are time consuming to assemble, but that results in a very durable product.
