We had an old lamp like this one that had a halogen bulb that had worked for 30 years, but finally was falling apart and no longer usable. We were happy to see this one on Amazon with the same type of metal, bowl-shaped fixture that would direct all the light upward so no direct light was visible. When it arrived, I was happy to see how easy it went together. You just have to be very careful when screwing the pieces of the pole together - if you cross thread it and damage the threads, it's going to be a problem. Just take your time and be very careful about getting the threads meshed before you tighten it down. Follow directions and do it exactly in the way they say, and it will go easily. Once together, we plugged it in and turned it on, and loved the range of light and softness of it. I had seen some that had cold temperature bulbs, but neither of us like that as the light is too harsh. This one is great- nice, soft light, and the dimmer works great - from very dim to quite bright. Way more of a range than we really need, but that's much better than not enough. And this LED light will use much less electricity than the old halogen one we had. I had read reviews from some who said the switch was too rinky-dink, and that could be true. We're just very gentle with turning it on and off and adjusting brightness, and hopefully that will never be a problem. Very happy! If any problems arise, this will be updated. ... show more

Nice and bright. The pole and control knob are not super high quality but for the price they are completely acceptable. This lamp really helped raise the light levels in our living room. Significantly brighter than a lot of the other options I looked into.

I bought this for my elderly father who is vision impaired and very light sensitive. This lights up the room nicely with indirect light reflected from the ceiling without the bright glare that bothers him. He loves it. It was fairly easy to assemble and appears to be well made. It's too soon to tell how long it will last. Update: This lamp deserves a 5 star rating however I changed it to 4 stars due to an issue that could be easily fixed. The knob on the switch is quit flimsy and only lasted a month before it stripped out and fell off. I'll eather need to glue it on with epoxy or find a knob at the hardware store that will work. Okay, maybe they changed this product somewhere along the way, but I can't see how this would have ever worked with a smart switch or a smart plug. It has a freakin' power adapter that expects to see 120V line-in and steps down to its own voltage! I have a Lutron Diva Smart Dimmer switch on my wall that absolutely freaks out with this light plugged in, and then I tried a TP-Link Tapo P135 smart plug dimmer which is able to turn the light on and off, but the dimmer functionality does not work at all. So, long story short: Do not buy this lamp if you want it to dim via voice commands/smart switches. It only dims via its own dimmer knob (which has changed and looks nothing like the photos in the product description). Very disappointed in this lamp. It has the right looks, puts out the right amount of light, etc, but I bought this specifically because it said it would work with my wall switches and it absolutely in no way, no how, is able to do so. ... show more
