What should I do? Please slide the switch to REV mode and pull the paper up. Then slide the switch to FWD mode for a few seconds and then to REV mode for a few seconds. Repeat this step for several times and the cutter will be cleaned. Why doesn't the shredder work after plugging in? Please check if the machine is installed corectly. The side with LOGO of the shredder head should be aligned to the side with transparent window of the bin. Why is the number of sheets that can be shredded lower than the maximum number of sheets described? Please check if the paper is damp, contains plastic or too thick. Hello there! I bought this shredder in 2021 as a replacement for my previous one, which lasted about 10 years. After using it for several years, I'm happy to say it has been a solid choice for my home office. The shredder is compact, easy to set up, and shreds documents quickly without jamming *when used within its limits*. One of the main reasons I chose it is because it does cross-cut shredding, which is important for financial and personal documents. The shredded pieces are small enough that I feel comfortable disposing of sensitive paperwork. The 4-gallon bin holds a decent amount of shredded paper before needing to be emptied, making it convenient for regular home use. It also handles old credit cards without any problems. The biggest limitation is that it can overheat during longer shredding sessions. When that happens, it automatically shuts off to protect itself, and you'll need to wait anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes before continuing. If you have large stacks of documents, plan on shredding them in batches. I also recommend buying shredder oil and lubricating the cutting blades from time to time. Regular maintenance helps keep it running smoothly. As with most home shredders, avoid feeding too many sheets at once. If a jam does occur, the reverse function usually helps clear it. For stubborn jams, unplug the unit before attempting to remove any paper. As I was writing this review, I found that my shredder is the previous model and does not include the Convenient Lift-Off Handle. I've attached photos of the top panel and the shredder itself showing that this feature is not present on my unit. All in all, this has been a pretty dependable shredder for light to moderate home office use. It's NOT designed for nonstop heavy-duty shredding, but for everyday documents, bills, and old credit cards, it gets the job done well and has held up nicely over the years. I am thrilled with this purchase! At 65 decibels it is much quieter than my old one and it shreds the paper into teenyweeny crosscut bits. Actually, as the basket fills, the noise level becomes even a bit more muted. There is a convenient handle on the top (mechanical) section and I like the fact that this part will not seat onto the basket unless it is turned the correct way so that the fill window is visible. Best not to overfill the basket. I decided to remove all the staples in advance ( why did I use so many? Jeez! ) and found that I preferred to just shred 6 pages at once. Didn't try with paperclips - I just chucked them out separately. Thin card went through easily. Did not try with a credit card. Eventually, I will probably buy the lubricating sheets to clean the blades & help keep 'em sharp. ( I learned my lesson with the old shredder!) Very happy with this one! ... show more

Received my Bonsen shredder and at first I thought this is so small, I should send it back. But decided to plug it in and give it a go and I was pleasantly surprised at the performance of the shredder. Had one hiccup which was handled professionally by the Bonsen team. I highly recommend this little personal shredder. Does a fantastic job with the crosscuts. It's a good product, lasted me 3 years, mine just took a crap today, plugged it in in several different outlets and it's a no go. First thing that took a crap was the switch button falling, or popping right off. I have been sticking my fingers in and putting it to auto or reverse or off for the last year and half now. It's done it's duty. I wish it would not over heat when I have a lot to shred though. But it does work great for the price I paid for 3 years ago. I do wish they would make these so you can empty them without making another mess on the floor. Would be nice. Or make it so you can without starting a fire out a trash bag of some sort inside to just toss your paper shreds away. ... show more
