For many years I always purchased the Amazon Basics shredder because they are very affordable and reliable. The downfall of the Amazon Basics shredder is that it only shreds paper into continuous strips, which had me worried about privacy. They are also quite heavy and cumbersome when needing to empty the bin. This shredder feels a bit cheaply made, but it has a nice handle on the top which makes disposing the paper much easier. The best feature is that it shreds the paper into small tiny square pieces like confetti. This gives you a great advantage when it comes to privacy and destruction of sensitive information and also means you don’t have to empty the bin as often as traditional strip shredders. My only complaint is that it is incredibly LOUD compared to other shredders I’ve owned throughout the years. I believe the loudness is just simply because of the extra shredding action compared to other shredders. I’ve owned this thing for a few months and so far it’s absolutely awesome and provides top-tier privacy compared to other consumer grade shredders. Wait for a good sale and you can get a good deal on this one. I would be hesitant to purchase it at full price, but all things considered I’m happy with it right now now. Only time will tell how well how long it lasts!

I get a lot of junk mail at work and this works great for the price. Haven't had any issues with it. Never jammed it. So no complaints really.

I would give this 10 stars! My other one had no handle so I kept jamming my fingers and kind of dropping it into the bucket on each empty. This is fabulous to shred so many sheets of paper. I easily used 9 sheets each time. As soon as I received it, I shredded and filled a 13 gallon bag. Not once did it jam (and I stuffed it pretty full each time) nor overheat or shutdown. An absolute joy compared to the one I had. Perfect. It now has about 2 more feet of shredding to go! I did about a foot of shredding in no time at all. I’m so thrilled to finally have a shredder that is reliable and no paper stuck in the assembly. I would have to take needlenose plyers and try and unjam my old one. This is like heaven! Perfect! Now I can bring it all to the recyling center. It’s great. So far, a high recommendation.

I’m so glad that my old shredder’s switch began malfunctioning last week so I could get this one instead! This one is much, much better and it cuts paper into very small pieces. That will make emptying the bin much easier and reduce the amount of garbage bags needed, as well as protecting my privacy much better. It feels more durable than the last one I had purchased from a local office supply store. The switch is much better. And this one allows the use of vegetable oil in place of stinky shredding machine oil if preferred. That’s a major plus because I get sick around the chemical oils. This is at least the fifth brand of shredders I’ve purchased over the past twenty years and I like it better than any others, including the expensive, heavy duty Fellowes brand I fought with regularly. One thing that’s been common with every shredder I’ve owned is that they don’t really do well trying to shred the maximum number of pages. They usually work better and last longer if you only shred two or three pages maximum at once. Trying to keep shredding the maximum amount usually just jams them up and then they start pushing the cut pieces up into the top section where it’s difficult to get the giant clog loose without your fingers getting sliced up by the sharp blades. Needle nose pliers and tweezers are often necessary for that job, but it can usually be avoided by not overworking the machine. It’s also important to carefully follow the manufacturer’s instructions about regular oiling and not running the machine more than the recommended number of minutes. Shredders also need plenty of time to cool down between work loads. This sounds like a pretty powerful machine, but it needs to be treated properly in order to extend its life. I’m planning to treat it with care, so that it can function for years. I noticed that this manufacturer also makes a larger version which can be used for longer periods without a break. That model would be ideal for anyone needing to shred lots of pages in a short time span. For people with time to shred in stages, this machine comes highly recommended. I saw many excellent reviews about this brand from many different websites. I’ve been wanting one for years and was simply waiting for my other one to give out. The timing was perfect because this one was on sale right when I needed it most! Being able to lubricate it with a safer oil also means that the shredded paper will be safe to use for composting. That’s something I had worried about in addition to trying to protect myself from having reactions to the regular machine oil smells from using my old shredder. This new one can remain on my main floor instead of being banished to the attic like my old one because I can be around it safely. It’s perfect for people with chemical sensitivities. I’m really happy that I ordered it.

Let me start by saying that I received a brand-new model with the foam blocks and all. Box looked to be untouched. Some people complained about receiving a used model, not my case. So this is a really nice shredder, especially for the price! I cannot believe that shredders are so expensive.. but security these days is a must! Please don’t throw away your papers as is, invest in a shredder!! First, the appearance. It looks like your everyday office appliance BUT it’s attractive! I know some companies try to set their products apart from others and ‘pop’.. but they’re so ugly! This one is simple and streamline. The shred level window is really useful! Once the paper reaches the top of it, it’s time to empty into a bag! You’d swear it costs WAY more than just 32 bucks! I wouldn’t mind leaving this one out in plain sight although.. someone might steal it! So hide it! Speaking of hiding it.. it’s a nice size. Big enough to shred a lot, small enough to hide it! Second, instructions. Very simple booklet came with the shredder. The Amazon product description says you can shred credit cards, but the booklet says you SHOULD NOT shred credit cards. I shredded a couple of insurance cards, no problem. Just don’t stick anything TOO thick in there. Remember guys, you get what you pay for! Don’t complain if it breaks! Honestly though, it chewed through it like a Toyota Land Cruiser in mud. Smooth. Third, Performance. This thing shreds FAST! It’ll go through a sheet of paper in just 4-5 seconds. The machine comes pre-lubed but make sure you buy some oil and give it the love it needs every 500-800 sheets or 3 months. Remember folks, this is a SIX SHEET shredder, make sure you don’t choke it up! I haven’t had a single slow-down, jam, or overheat and I’m going through a dump load of personal info. I’m talking more than 500 sheets! Also, it does cross cut very well. This one doesn’t have those ejecting blades, rather, the cross cutting is built into the rows of blades in the form of spikes. Talk about reliable design in a compact package! The shredder is not loud, but don’t use it in a quiet place where people might be sleeping. It’s quiet in the day, but loud at night if that makes sense. It’s a shredder! What do you expect! Fourth, safety. The paper insert slit is deep, so your kids’ fingers won’t reach the blades. Still, keep it away from them as when the shredder is lifted, the blades are exposed and can really turn into an ugly situation. Don’t attempt to clean the blades with your fingers, I almost cut myself. Use a brush or gently pick out the excess paper using a spring-loaded needle nose plier. Remember: it’s a machine, NOT a toy!! Fifth: energy savings. If you’re looking for this, go burn your papers. Paper shredders aren’t really that efficient in general. Please do not attempt to make a salad with this machine. It’s not for any kind of organic materials.

I like everything about this shredder, minus one irritation that I didn't feel was worth dropping a whole star for. Because the bottom collection basket doesn't need to be anything more than lightweight plastic, 95% of the device's weight is in the removable top section (where the actual shredder motor and blades are). This top section doesn't attach to the basket below it with any sort of latch or hook, but instead tapers slightly and sits just atop and inside the basket. Because of how top heavy it is, it's easier to tip over than I'd really like it to be. And because the top doesn't latch and is just resting on the lip of the basket, if (...when...) it gets knocked over you'll find yourself spending the next 15 minutes cleaning the fantastically well shredded paper that's now all over your floor. If you have pets that are likely to investigate this (two of the times I've cleaned up shredded paper from the floor) or you're clumsy and prone to tripping over things (the other time I had to clean up shredded paper, lol), I'd suggest tucking it into a corner when not in use, or emptying it each time you finish shredding things. To be clear, I've never felt like this was a problem during normal use, and it's just an annoyance rather than a real "problem". Outside of that, I have absolutely no complaints about this device at all! It shreds incredibly well, handles the amount of paper it claims it can, and isn't even especially loud! (it's not "quiet", but it's much quieter than the shredders I've used in the past). I'm not shredding all that much, just typical household bills and credit card offers, but I've filled the basket 3 times at least and it seems to be holding up just fine, and by not pushing it to shred as much and as fast as possible I've never even seen the overheat warning others have talked about. Overall I like this shredder, just be mindful of where you leave it sitting if you don't plan on cleaning your floors today!
