Oh wow! When this arrived, I was gobsmacked! I thought I might have made a mistake ordering this. Did I really want to spend time fussy over Bonsai Trees? Well, as soon as I opened the package, I was in love. This kit comes with a cute wood container that has a sliding lid. Inside you will find everything you need to get started. There is a set of tool, five seed packets (for gorgeous blooming Bonsai trees, by the way!), five wooden stakes to identify the plant and the date you sowed the seed, five adorable plastic-lined burlap bags with a grommeted hole in the bottom, five soil pods, and a plastic liner for inside the wood planter. Most importantly, there is a set of instructions included to help you along the process from sowing the seeds, to sun and nourishment, re-potting, to trimming. I am not a green thumb, so this will be handy! Once the seedlings are ready to be re-potted into five individual large pots, you can removed the plastic liner from inside the wood planter, and use it as a place to store your tools and various other necessities. The other option is to place the plastic liner on top of the sliding lid, put the burlap seedling sacks in that liner, and store your tools inside the wooden box while waiting for the seedlings to grow and be re-potted. It's just a very useful, attractive, and well-thought-out kit. You could even reuse this kit to plant spices or tiny flowers. i just love the whole kit and can't wait to get started. My husband even liked it, and he's definitely not into this sort of thing. I'll provide some photos so you can get an idea of the quality, and the various ways to use it. When I ordered this item, it was a 4-tree kit, not a 5-tree kit - though it did come with the 5-tree instructions and 5 discs of compressed soil, so that was a little odd. Luckily for me it was my least favorite tree that was excluded! I can only grade it for its contents at the moment, given the plants haven't had time to sprout yet, but I'm hopeful! I followed the instructions as best I could, and still am when it comes to watering. I find the watering instructions a bit vague, but I'm not really a plant person so I just hope I'm doing it right. The tools and wooden box it comes in are of decent but not phenomenal quality, but they more than do the job for such a tiny project. I really only needed the wider shovel, but the kit does come with two shovels, a little rake thing, and some little pruning shears that seem nice and sharp. The burlap bags are lined with plastic so they won't get gross or moldy, and there's a hole at the bottom to drain just in case. I really hope the seeds take. I'll come back and update this review when I start seeing some sprouts, but the instruction pamphlet indicates it could take a while to start to see seedlings. If I get even two plants to grow from this I'm gonna call it five stars, because I do not really have luck with plants, but I've always wanted one of these kits. So excited to see some growth!!!

Quality beginner kit. Get exactly what is expected. I’m not in a climate conditioned for tropical trees. I Followed the instructions exactly and within a week, I had 2 sophora japonica sprouts, and 3 days later a crape Myrtle had sprouted. At14 days and Still patiently waiting to see what else might sprout up.

This is a lovely, all-inclusive kit for any garden hobbyist who would like to give a try at growing bonzai trees from seed! I did some research and realized that sprouting bonzai seeds can take 6 months to a year, so I can't show you that progress here. But the kit comes with everything you need to get started: The attractive wooden box, 5 little grow bags that fit inside, 5 plugs of the growing medium, 5 packets of seeds for different varieties of bonzai trees, 5 wooden plant labels, snippers, a complete set of tools, and instructions. This is definitely a hobby that will require a lot of patience, as the growing process is slow, it takes repeated prunings and training of the main trunk, and it takes years to get anything recognizable as a bonzai tree. But knowing that, you have to start somewhere, and this kit clearly has everything you need to begin the journey and do it attractively! It certainly would make a wonderful gift, as well. If this is a hobby you are looking to try, then this kit gives you a great place to start, and it will look very attractive in your indoor growing space.

A great set with everything you need — perfect for plant enthusiasts and an excellent way for kids to learn about seed germination and plant care. It also teaches a wonderful lesson in patience and perseverance. This makes a cute little gift for just about anyone. The instructions are clear and included in the package, and it’s no rocket science — with a little love and care, your bonsai plants should start sprouting within a few weeks (depending on sunlight, watering, and the weather in your area). Keep in mind, this is a seed germination set, so once the seeds have sprouted and small stems appear, you’ll need to transfer them into proper bonsai planters. Highly recommended — great value for your money in terms of learning, enjoyment, and even emotional satisfaction.
