In my life I've shaved with every contraption, electric, DEs, straight razors, cartridges. You name it and I've tried it. In the past I've found electrics to be the least desirable. That has changed. This new Braun really does give a shave the equal to some of my milder DE razors. I do have to say the original one I got was defective sometimes working and sometimes not. That started within a week of receipt. It was returned to Amazon. I had a Panasonic Arc 6 and this does beat it for shave closeness and comfort. I think the cleaning unit works very well so cleaning is a snap and it's fast taking 1 hr in total. (The Panasonic took 3 hours and what was worse the head only lasted me 6 months and they are $125 to replace). The Braun heads are half that price. I haven't used it wet but I'm sure it's totally water resistant. It is very ergonomic so it's easy to use. It also costs less than the Panasonic and quality wise comparable. ... show more

I use the Braun for shaving my head. Having gone between using the Pitbull head shaver and a safety razor and shaving cream for years, I was hesitant to try the Braun. I liked the Pitbull. It was a novelty, maybe. Shaving my head with a shaver. But I could never use it dry. Way too much irritation. So I still shaved in the shower. It was time consuming with prep and cleanup. Used a lot of water. My safety razor always got my head much cleaner with the closeness of the shave, but it was also time consuming in its own way. I decided to try the Braun because of reviews. I have to say that so far I am very pleased. It takes me probably 10 to 15 minutes to shave my head between prep and clean up. But during that time, I shave my head, my neck, my neck beard line, and trim my beard length and cheek lines. The razor shaves about as close as I could expect. Very slight stubble feeling. Maybe once removed from the bare skin of a safety razor shave. So, it’s smooth. It’s easy to clean. I like the cleaning station. It cleans, disinfects, and dries the razor head in one cycle. You can also store your razor in the cleaning stand for a constant trickle charge. I like being able to dry shave, sweep my head and neck off with my old shaving brush, throw on some witch hazel, and continue on about my day/night without fine hairs making me itch. I like not wet shaving my head. Some tips, if they apply to you: Wash the razor head after each shave to clean it. Brush out the razor itself (not the foils on the head). Do not put it away wet, let it air dry. If you shave daily, use your cleaning station once a week to disinfect and remove oil buildup from the foil head. Re-lubricate with foil oil. Good maintenance will equal a much smoother shave (no bumping and jumping along your head) with a clean, lubed razor head. I was shaving daily but switched to every other or every few days. I get a much closer shave when I have a couple or few day’s growth versus one day of stubble. I think I’ve gone 4 days at longest, and that Braun mowed right thru the stubble. It’s been decades since I’ve tried an electric shaver. They irritated my skin and couldn’t get close to my nose. And while this one isn’t quite as good as a blade, it’s very close. It has some challenges with hair on my neck, but does the overall job well - and I don’t cut myself any more, which I do like a lot. Would recommend. ... show more

I've been using the Braun electric shavers for more than 45 years. During the last 25 years, I always chosen to buy the top of the line shaver, at that time. The previous model I used was the Series 7, starting from its first submodel and ending with the last one before being discontinued. The Series 9 PRO+ is the best Braun shaver I had until now. It gives you a very close and smooth shave, without any irritation. The trimmer is not bad, but I find it difficult to activate/deactivate, and it's in an unusual position on the back of the shaver. The body of the shaver itself is different from the Series 7; it is much lighter, a bit thinner, and I feel it might fall out of my hand. I will probably get used to it in time. The blade is also a little more difficult to hold in your hand during cleaning. The noise level of the shaver is also slightly higher than that of the Series 7, but it's not bothersome. Overall, the shaver is of the highest technological level, a bit expensive, but if it serves me for a long time, then I can say that I made a good deal by buying it. ... show more

The power button broke on my current series 9 pro and despite some strategically placed glue it was perhaps time for an upgrade. I was not disappointed by the 9 pro plus that arrived. It provided an even smoother closer shave than my old reliable Braun. I opted to save money by choosing the matte black version and since it’s not up for public display I’m fine with it. This remains a preeminent electric shaver and it is both easy to use as well as clean with the proprietary cleaning system that uses their replaceable cartridges in its base. Try it for yourself and you’ll be a Braun Fan and never go back to rotary or competitive foil shavers. ... show more

The best electric shaver I ever owned. Great on 5-o-clock shadow or 3 days growth. Impressive in every way: feels good in the hand, wonderful shave and clean up is a breeze. But I do admit struggling with sticker shock. Ultimately, a worthy investment.
