    • Best fire pit ever - but read my safety advice before you buy
I bought this last minute when I went camping for the first time in 15 years and there was a burn ban of charcoal and wood fires. To be honest, despite the great video I didn’t have high hopes but I figure it was better than camping without a fire. I was HAPPILY surprised to discover this unit is everything it claims to be. It looked like a real wood fire and put off heat - without smoke. Plus it was convenient to start and stop when we wanted. No staying up late to ensure the fire burned out. Lightweight and portable - the unit is perfect for camping, the beach, etc. The one thing you MUST know is that sometime it takes a few attempts to ignite. Do NOT leave the knob ON for very long if it doesn’t light immediately. Turn it OFF! Or the gas will build and once it does ignite you will have a fireball.     • A great buy!
I don't usually have time to rate my purchases, but this item definitely deserves it, and I'm giving it an excellent review at 5 stars!!! I've used it three times so far and very happy with both the quality and the value for the money. I hooked it up to my natural gas line, using the same connection to my gas BBQ grill. To use the natural gas, I had to purchase a natural gas hose, same hose my BBQ grill uses . I bought a 24' long hose from Amazon for $62 (if you use a propane tank, the hose is included). I suggest buying a longer hose so it can be run away from foot traffic and avoid potential tripping on the hose. I did not make any modifications to use the heater with natural gas and it heats up just fine. I did notice the flame in the video is much higher than mine, probably because propane is higher pressure and more gas is being used. But once the lava rocks heat up, I needed to turn down the gas because there was plenty of heat. I also need to mention that I'm using it under a covered gazebo, open on all sides, so the top covering definitely helps keep the heat from escaping. On the negative side, I don't feel they provide enough lava rocks, but for $8., I bought a bag of red lava rocks from Home Depot (much cheaper than Amazon). Can't add too many because then the locking lid can't close. The locking lid is another plus for the unit, making it super easy to move and store. The lid's handle is plastic, so don't cover it until the lava rocks have cooled. ... show more

    • Nice, leaping, beautiful flames
Initial impression, as it just arrived and I used it once so far: A wonderful, portable, sturdy, easy to use, easy to light firepit. I used it on our covered deck on a small table, then placed it on the deck itself. Both were fine. Heat had dissipated enough anove so the vinyl deck ceiling was unaffected in both cases. Plenty of heat for four people to comfortably sit around without crowding. I didn’t bother using the built-in sparking lighter, as they are often problematic (my gas fireplace!), and this burner is so easily accessed with a gas candle lighter. Was shocked the flames were so large, as my gas fireplace with fake logs only produces a small impressive, unrealistic flame. Very happy with this portable, easy to use, impressive device.     • Great portable firepit! Perfect for RVing!
We have been wanting one for a while. This had great reviews and a locking carry lid, so for the price, it seemed good. Wow! It is on the smaller side (maybe the only negative if that is considered negative) but what a great little firepit! Auto start, with just a turn of the easy to hold knob. Fires right up and keeps a steady blaze for a perfect campfire gathering! We love it! Our friends loved it so much, they just ordered one, too! Lid locks down to easily move it around and the whole thing is lighweight enough and small enough to take it wherever you go! I definitely recommend this! ... show more

Good looking unit, nice bronze/copper hilites showing through paint. Looks decent quality, welds on burner ring look a little thin. Came with plenty of lava rocks, no need to purchase extra. Igniter doesn’t work well at all, mine flamed up on me twice. Works much better using a butane lighter and then turn burner on to light. Throws out lots of heat, looks good burning, propane hose and tank connector decent quality, came put together except for handle on carry lid, very easy to get going. Came with small steel ring to sit propane tank on to steady it. Happy with purchase, would give 5 star if igniter worked. ... show more

    • Nice fire pit
Used the fire pit for the first time on a camping trip to the Oregon coast this summer and it worked great. The weather was cool and damp so it was nice to get warmed up quickly especially in the morning when we didn't want to make a wood fire. Also in the evening when we got back to camp and it was too late to make a wood fire. The fire pit looks nice and has good flames even on low. The gas hose is long enough to have the gas tank at the edge of the camp mostly out of sight. I also got the Outland gas tank cover so you don't notice the tank at all. The only down side is the gas will make a hissing sound when its on high but like I said it has good flames even on low. ... show more

    • Great smaller fire pit.
Easy to setup out of the box. From box opening to a fire being lit, was approximately 5 minutes. The pumice stone that is provided is fairly dusty. I used my blower to get all the dust off the rocks before initial ignition. The amount of heat this little guy puts off is incredible. It would be nicer if the regulator allowed for a lower setting as even on low it’s still a lot of flame and heat. But, that’s the freaking point of a fire pit so I can’t knock them on it. The whole setup is quite lite and would be easy to use camping etc. I have mine in the backyard by our TV so we can spend evenings watching tv/sports while staying warm. Best part is no stink on your clothes from burning carbon and it takes ten seconds to light it up. Great purchase. Very happy. ... show more
